Chapter 405 Wanda and Jessica, Eight Parties Join Forces

Outside the electromagnetic field, a slender figure had been standing for a long time.

Wanda Maximov, Quicksilver's twin sister, is closer to this electromagnetic field than she has been in months.

Her hands trembled slightly, her fingertips glowing with a faint crimson light—a sign of chaotic magic stirring beneath her skin.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and felt the faint, familiar presence within the electromagnetic field.

She was certain that Pietro was still alive, but had been moved to one of the most unusual areas on Earth today.

After her brother went missing during a mission targeting Father Shen Jue, Wanda dared not make any rash moves.

Her intuition and abilities kept reminding her that if she tried to rescue Pietro, she would fall into the same predicament as him.

This is also why she never tried to rescue Quicksilver Pietro immediately.

Given that Father Shen Jue's reputation on Earth was so good that Wanda wasn't particularly worried about Quicksilver's life being threatened.

For months, Wanda has been searching every day for a way to break into the electromagnetic field and rescue Pietro.

The once-famous Blackwatch Tower is now deserted, with most of Blackwatch members having moved into the mountain-like black building.

Only members of the Blackwatch and some Stark Industries employees are allowed free access to this force field.

This is part of the intelligence Wanda obtained through her investigation.

She tried going around it, tried sneaking underground, tried tearing a rift open with chaos magic.

The electromagnetic field remained completely still.

Every attempt felt like trying to scrape a steel mountain with your fingernail.

But today is different.

Today she felt a fluctuation in the force field, a subtle, brief, fleeting gap.

Wanda didn't know what it was, nor did she care what it was; all she knew was that she had finally gotten her chance.

A crimson light spread from her fingertips to her wrist, and then from her wrist to her entire arm. The air began to distort, and reality cracked slightly under her will.

She raised her hand and aimed it at the surface of the electromagnetic field.

"Wait for me, Pietro."

Just as her chaotic magic was about to touch the electromagnetic field, a hand reached out from the side and firmly gripped her wrist.

The crimson light vanished abruptly, like a candle flame being extinguished.

Wanda turned her head sharply, and standing next to her was a beautiful woman wearing a dark leather jacket, jeans, and her hair tied in a single ponytail.

The woman looked energetic, with a faint smile on her face.

"Jessica?" Wanda's voice was filled with disbelief. "You, how did you get here?"

Jessica Jones released her wrist, put her hands back in her jacket pockets, and whistled.

"This isn't a difficult question."

"Your brother is inside, right?"

Wanda paused for a moment, then nodded.

"I can feel him; he's still alive."

Jessica sighed and looked up at the towering black buildings.

"Have you ever wondered why he's still alive?"

Wanda was stunned.

"The Blackwatch cyborgs have reduced the crime rate in all of New York to zero," Jessica said with a touch of playfulness.

"Relying on powerful artificial intelligence, they built a 10,000-meter-high metal mountain in just a few months."

"It is also highly likely that they will reverse engineer and dismantle the alien technology of those damned aliens."

"Do you think it would take them months to kill someone?"

Wanda nodded, agreeing with Jessica's words.

The two women met after Wanda and Quicksilver broke free from Hydra's control.

At the time, the alcoholic Jessica spent some time helping the two of them completely shake off Hydra's pursuit.

Jessica took a cigarette out of her pocket, put it in her mouth, but didn't light it.

"I don't know much about Father Shen Jue, but I do know one thing."

"He never kills easily."

"None of the mercenaries who attacked Father Shen Jue with your brother died."

"Now most of them have become cyborgs in the Blackwatch security force."

"Your brother might be the same."

Wanda clenched her fists: "But my brother has never shown up. I can't just leave him like this!"

"You can't what?" Jessica interrupted her. "Break in? Try to smash your mutant abilities into Father Shen Jue's face? And then what?"

"You escaped this planet with your younger brother, whose form has been transformed into who knows what?"

"I don't think you can get very far."

"Based on the intelligence I've gathered during this period, that damned artificial intelligence might be hiding an entire fleet of space battleships."

Wanda's eyes reddened, and a crimson light flickered deep within her pupils.

"Jessica, what exactly are you trying to say?"

Jessica took the unlit cigarette out of her mouth and pointed deep into the electromagnetic field.

"I'm here because I received a message."

"Shen Jue has reappeared on Earth."

"If you really want to see your brother, the best way is not to barge in."

"Instead, go inside."

"As a guest."

"If you'd like, it would be better if you were a member of Blackwatch."

Wanda fell silent, looking at the black, silent complex of buildings that seemed to devour all light, and then looking down at her own hands.

"How can you make me believe you?" Wanda whispered.

Jessica shrugged and said, "You don't have to believe me."

"Then continue standing here for a few more months until Blackwatch transforms Pietro into something you won't recognize."

"Or you could unleash chaos magic right now and blast a hole in this force field."

"Then you were taken away and reformed by Father Shen Jue who suddenly appeared, and that's when you'll be able to see your brother."

"You choose."

Wanda closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, the crimson in her pupils had faded.

She looked at Jessica, her voice hoarse: "You're also from Blackwatch?"

Jessica put the cigarette back in her pocket, the corners of her mouth curving into a slightly wider smile.

"Me? Not yet."

"But I want to join this organization."

"On Earth, it's hard for me to find a safe place to live."

"Blackwatch definitely counts."

At this point, Jessica recalled that crazy night she spent with Shen Jue.

After parting ways with Shen Jue that night, Jessica spent a lot of time getting herself ready. She quit drinking and even smoked very little cigarettes.

A one-eyed, bald man appeared and gave her a large sum of money, allowing her to relax for a few days and emerge from the shadows of the past.

Jessica genuinely wants to join Blackwatch.

In her view, even being a security guard in the Blackwatch security team would be much better than continuing to work under the American flag.

Wanda withdrew her hand, but the electromagnetic field remained silently standing before her.

"A smart choice. With our combined abilities, we still have a chance to try and join Blackwatch."

Jessica laughed and said, "Don't worry, Wanda."

"Your brother is absolutely unharmed."

"Yes, he's fine, he didn't even have any skin injuries," Shen Jue nodded and said.

Jessica and Wanda both froze.

None of them noticed when Shen Jue appeared; he stood silently beside them, as if he had been there from the very beginning.

Jessica reacted the fastest and most dramatically. She bounced up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, her dark leather jacket flying through the air and her single ponytail swinging in an arc.

"Wait f*** you!"

She flew too high and too fast, completely forgetting that she had super strength, and crashed headfirst into a nearby street lamp.

The metal lamppost emitted a piercing metallic groan, bent at its base, and the lampshade flew off, grazing her shoulder before bouncing twice on the ground.

Jessica herself was hanging from a bent lamppost, her limbs outstretched.

Wanda reacted just as violently, leaping back a step and instinctively raising her hands. Crimson light exploded from her fingertips, and chaotic magic wove a distorted force field in the air.

Her pupils shrank to pinpoints, her breathing became rapid, and she almost unleashed the energy that was powerful enough to tear reality apart.

"No, no, no!" Shen Jue quickly raised her hands, a helpless smile on her face.

"It's me, Father Shen Jue!"

As he spoke, he stretched his hand towards the sky, his fingers loosely clenched, activating gravity manipulation.

Jessica felt an invisible force wrap around her waist and pull her off the bent lamppost.

She landed lightly on the ground, staggering a couple of steps as she touched the ground.

"Father Shen Jue! Can't you just show up normally?!" Jessica covered the back of her head, glaring at Shen Jue with a grimace.

Shen Jue smiled slightly, ignored her, and instead turned around and walked to the crooked street lamp, reaching out to grasp the bent lamp post.

With a gentle stroke of his hand, the iron pillar that had been bent into a right angle was bent back into place like a noodle, without even leaving a crease on the metal surface.

Wanda's chaotic magic slowly dissipated. She stared at Shen Jue's hand, then at the perfectly intact street lamp, and the wariness in her pupils gradually turned into a complex expression.

"Father Shen Jue." Her voice was soft, but it carried emotions that had been suppressed for months.

Where is my brother?

Shen Jue turned on the streetlight, patted the dust off his hands, turned around to look at Wanda, and his expression softened considerably.

"Pietro is very good."

"He's much better than you think."

"It's exactly the same as it was a few months ago."
