Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 19 This time, someone called her.

Qu Yun touched the door frame beside her.

Those unbearable images from the past uncontrollably flooded into her mind.

The intense fear even rendered her unable to move.

Qu Yun trembled uncontrollably, a chill ran down her neck and down her spine, and her stomach churned violently.

After a bout of dryness in her throat, she gagged.

Mo Xuxing helped her up, saying, "Your motion sickness is really bad."

The three ladies in the private room all looked towards the door.

Mother Mo chuckled and joked, "I almost thought I was going to be a grandmother."

"Xiao Xing, quickly pour some water for that girl."

Qu Yun drank some warm water and felt a little better.

Mo Xuxing greeted each of the elders in turn, and was especially sweet-talking to Yan Suling.

Qu Yun glanced at him and said softly, "I'm leaving now."

She didn't want to stay.

Yan Suling suddenly curled her lips into a smile, slowly setting down her teacup. Her gaze, as condescending as it had been seven years ago, was full of disdain: "Miss Qu, are you afraid we'll eat you alive?"

The two ladies sitting next to her were somewhat surprised and asked her how they knew each other.

Yan Suling said calmly, "If you live a long life, you'll see all sorts of people, from the lowest to the highest classes."

Her smile didn't reach her eyes; it was full of disdain: "There are always some girls who are quick-witted and restless, single-mindedly thinking about climbing the social ladder, fantasizing about becoming a phoenix on a branch. They think that by relying on a moment of romance, they can squeeze into a circle that doesn't belong to them and rise to the top in one step."

Mother Mo's expression changed slightly as she looked at her son, wanting to ask him where he had brought this woman back from.

Another noblewoman, who was a complete stranger to Qu Yun, also didn't have a good impression of her after hearing these words.

After all, they're all in the same circle, and the Lu family holds the highest position and most power.

Which of them with sons hasn't seen a woman like Qu Yun who has lost her dignity?

Qu Yun lowered her head.

She loved him wholeheartedly, but in the eyes of these noble people, she was just greedy for fame and fortune.

In the past, she respected this woman because she was Lu Junhe's mother. She endured her suppression, sarcasm, and even disrespect because she didn't want to make things difficult for Lu Junhe.

But why is she still so afraid now?

Yan Suling took a sip of her tea, shook her head, and sighed softly, "It's a pity that one's background and mindset are ingrained in their bones and stay with them for life."

"You failed back then, and after so many years, you still have the nerve to flaunt your position in front of me. You really have a thick skin."

She said she was tired and had said enough.

These words bound Qu Yun to the label of shamelessness, intending to severely humiliate her and then make her leave on her own.

Apart from Mo Xuxing, the three people in the private room were all looking at Qu Yun.

They all thought Qu Yun would walk out with her head down, but instead she pulled out a chair and sat down directly.

Yan Suling was so angry that her eyelids twitched.

Qu Yun slightly raised her eyes, neither dodging nor avoiding them: "Madam Lu, you must have misunderstood. My feelings for you before were genuine. I never coveted a single penny from the Lu family, nor did I ever think of using anyone to climb the social ladder."

"One's background is never a standard for judging a person. Living a law-abiding and honest life is far more dignified than looking down on others based on a sense of superiority from one's family background."

Qu Yun's voice grew more resolute, "Seven years have passed. I've long since moved on and no longer care about the people and events of that time. But you, after all these years, are still clinging to the past and judging others with prejudice. That's beneath you."

Mo Xuxing, who had been watching the show the whole time, smiled almost imperceptibly.

The waiter came in to serve the food, interrupting everything.

Qu Yun was originally going to leave after she finished speaking, but she was particularly annoyed. Since the man surnamed Yan had disgusted her, she would continue to sit here and disgust him as well.

Another woman, worried that Yan Suling might lose face, started a new conversation, "I heard your grandson is in first grade this year?"

Qu Yun was taken aback when Lu Jinxing was suddenly mentioned.

Sitting opposite, Yan Suling seemed to have noticed something and nodded with a smile, "Yes, this child is extremely attached to his mother. No wonder he was breastfed from a young age."

"Your daughter-in-law is that daughter of the Tang family, right? Her name is Tang something..."

"Tang Bingqing".

Qu Yun swallowed the cucumber slices that she had already chewed until they had no taste.

So it really was Tang Bingqing...

She shouldn't be so surprised; she should have expected it.

"By the way, my Bingqing's company is nearby." Yan Suling's harsh expression had completely disappeared, and even her tone had softened unconsciously. "Why don't we ask her to come over and talk to us?"

Qu Yun felt she had no reason to stay any longer, so she got up and politely left the private room.

She wanted to turn things around, but in the end, she only brought shame upon herself.

Lu Junhe's personal assistant had been keeping a close eye on the contact between Tang Bingqing and Yan Suling. When Tang Bingqing left for the restaurant, he reported the situation to Lu Junhe.

At that moment, Lu Junhe didn't even lift his eyelids.

After a moment's hesitation, the assistant truthfully replied, "Miss Qu... is also in that place."

Lu Junhe: "Why is she there?"

Before his assistant could speak, Lu Junhe had already grabbed his car keys and left.

"You had a grudge against the Lu family before?" Mo Xuxing accompanied Qu Yun outside the restaurant. He put his hands in his pockets, quite enjoying the show he had just witnessed.

"To be honest, rich people are pretty hard to deal with, right? Ordinary families have to build up their wealth over several generations just to barely gain a foothold, but the Lu family has been high-ranking officials and nobles for generations."

Qu Yun didn't say anything, but how could she not know?

When I first met Lu Junhe, I saw that he was generous, lived in a nice house, and drove a good car, so I just assumed that he was a rich second-generation with a little money in his family.

Until she accompanied this man to a temporary group dinner.

The people sitting at that table were the city's top leader, the chairman of a leading local enterprise that had been deeply rooted in the area for decades, and the head of a long-established family business.

People who are usually high and mighty in the news and business circles, and who are not even qualified to speak to ordinary people, all gathered at one table and bowed and scraped to the young Lu Junhe.

She simply sat next to Lu Junhe, and everyone treated her with utmost respect.

Qu Yun suddenly realized the truth.

The food that day was just as bad as the cucumber slices today.

The relationship between her and Lu Junhe was never simply a matter of wealth disparity.

It is an insurmountable class, one class after another.

It's higher than the sky.

She was just too young then, and thought that true love could conquer all.

The intersection in front of the restaurant is busy with traffic.

Qu Yun replied to Mo Xuxing, "Aren't you a rich person too?"

She said sincerely, "Please consider our hotel. As your VIP account manager, I will do my best to serve you."

Mo Xuxing insisted on seeing her off.

Qu Yun shook her head, telling him to hurry back and be with his mother.

"Alright, anyway, thank you for the airport matter," Mo Xuxing said, looking at the last three seconds of the red light countdown.

Qu Yun stood in front of the zebra crossing, waved her hand with her back to him, and didn't even want to turn her head back.

When the green light came on, she started walking forward.

Tang Bingqing's car was in the first row before the stop line.

She saw Qu Yun, and also saw a semi-trailer truck speeding towards her from the opposite direction, trying to run a red light.

Tang Bingqing narrowed her eyes and gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands.

Qu Yun heard a screeching sound of brakes not far away and then looked up to find the direction from which the sound came.

She saw a red truck rushing straight towards her; the driver was sweating profusely but couldn't brake in time.

The car accident seven years ago seemed to be similar.

Qu Yun stood blankly on the white line, wanting to move her legs but lacking the strength.

She closed her eyes in fear.

This time, however, someone shouted behind her, "Qu Yun!"
