Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 20 She Doesn't Want It Anymore

The massive truck cab hurtled straight toward them, accompanied by a gust of wind.

Qu Yun desperately wanted to move, even just to crawl forward a little to avoid the car, but she couldn't. It was as if countless hands were reaching out from the ground, holding her tightly.

The scene of the accident seven years ago kept flashing through her mind, and she closed her eyes in pain and despair.

Just as the truck was about to hit her, a sharp and swift black shadow rushed up from behind.

The man pulled her tightly into his arms, resting his chin on her head and enveloping her completely.

The truck driver realized he was about to hit two people and desperately swerved the steering wheel.

A screeching sound of brakes followed by a violent crash exploded outwards. The truck barely grazed the two people on the zebra crossing before slamming heavily into a thick stone pillar by the roadside.

Stone chips flew everywhere, the front of the car was dented and deformed, and the loud noise shook the entire street.

Lu Junhe opened his eyes and immediately comforted the woman in his arms, "It's alright, it's alright."

He was stunned for a moment when he saw two lines of clear tears streaming down Qu Yun's face.

Qu Yun grasped his hand and placed it on her flat stomach. The fear in her eyes had not completely faded. She cried out, "Save the baby..."

"Lu Junhe, save our baby... Please, you must save it."

Lu Junhe's throat tightened, and a sharp, aching feeling filled his heart.

It turns out that seven years ago, Qu Yun was so afraid.

He slowly tightened his arms, bent down, and held Qu Yun in his arms, his hoarse voice trembling slightly: "I'm here, don't be afraid."

Qu Yun gradually stopped struggling and lost consciousness.

Lu Junhe picked her up in a princess carry.

Tang Bingqing sat in the car, glanced at the wrecked semi-trailer not far away, and then looked back at Lu Junhe who had suddenly appeared. Seeing that he wanted to leave with Qu Yun in his arms, she hurriedly opened the door and got out of the car.

"I've already called 120, the ambulance will be here soon."

As she spoke, Tang Bingqing stepped forward and reached out to pull Lu Junhe's arm away, her tone forceful: "Junhe, let go of her first. Don't hold her like that, or someone will take pictures and it will be on the news."

"Do you want to see the company's stock plummet tomorrow?"

Lu Junhe did not relax in the slightest, and the pressure around him intensified.

Seeing that he remained unmoved, Tang Bingqing simply stood in front of him, a mocking smile playing on her lips. "Lu Junhe, don't be fooled by this woman. There's a perfectly good intersection with a crosswalk and traffic lights, yet she's the one standing frozen in the middle of the road. It's too much of a coincidence."

"Maybe she orchestrated all of this herself, trying to gain your sympathy through this self-inflicted suffering, and deliberately plotting against you."

All the tenderness in Lu Junhe's eyes vanished. He raised his eyes, his gaze cold and terrifying. "Get out of here."

The smell of disinfectant filled my nostrils.

Qu Yun's eyelashes trembled slightly as she laboriously lifted her heavy eyelids.

A white ceiling came into view, and her gaze slowly moved down until she could see that she was lying on a hospital bed with an IV drip on her wrist, feeling weak and sore all over.

Turning her head, she was caught off guard by a gaze that was inches away.

Lu Junhe sat on a single chair by the hospital bed, his posture upright. He had shed his usual coldness and aloofness, and his eyes were filled with an inescapable weariness.

Seeing her open her eyes, he asked, "Awake?"

"Is anything bothering you? Does your head still hurt?"

Qu Yun sat up in bed and gently shook her head.

The two looked at each other and remained silent for a while.

Lu Junhe subconsciously leaned forward, raised his hand, and wanted to check Qu Yun's forehead temperature, afraid that she would get a fever as usual when she was frightened.

However, before his hand could even touch her, Qu Yun, like a frightened kitten, backed away, her eyelashes trembling.

His hand froze in mid-air.

It cannot be taken back.

The doctor said that Qu Yun suffered too much trauma back then, leaving her with psychological issues. So when she encounters similar situations again, her body is unable to make the right judgment, and she may even fall into a coma.

This is actually a way for her to protect herself.

Although it's more dangerous now.

The doctor picked up two pens from the table as a metaphor: one pen moved forward, and the other remained stationary.

"As time goes by, Ms. Qu's life will inevitably move forward, but in fact, she has left a part of herself forever in that moment."

No one can help her; she has to overcome her inner demons on her own.

What if we can't win?

Lu Junhe asked twice.

The doctor simply put down his pen.

Sensing a slight awkwardness, Qu Yun pursed her lips and said, "Thank you for today..."

Almost simultaneously, Lu Junhe said, "I'm sorry."

He lowered his eyes, his voice tinged with suppressed pain: "You were in a lot of pain back then, weren't you?"

Qu Yun was still a little weak, but upon hearing this, she gave a slight smile and said, "It's all in the past now."

"I'm sorry too... I forgot that it was once your child as well."

The pain of losing a child.

No matter who has been through it, it's hard to let go easily.

She was actually quite happy, at least not everyone was sad.

Some people have already started a brand new life.

Qu Yun smiled faintly: "Lu Junhe."

Let's forget about it.

Compared to her hatred, her resentment, and her loud arguments.

This time, Lu Junhe truly felt that Qu Yun was letting go.

His eyes welled up with tears.

The phone rang in the quiet hospital room, vibrating incessantly even though it was off silent.

Qu Yun pointed to the ward door, indicating that the man in front of her could go out to answer the phone.

After Lu Junhe left, she looked blankly at the closed door.

Letting go like this should be the right thing to do, right?

Yan Suling showed no concern on the phone, only giving a curt warning to Lu Junhe not to act recklessly.

He can have his son acknowledge his mother if he wants.

Let's see if Qu Yun has the ability to take this child away from the Lu family.

Lu Junhe leaned against the window with one hand, and for some reason, he suddenly laughed.

The laughter was soft, one after another, low and suppressed, carrying a sense of helpless absurdity.

This made Yan Suling frown, which was unusual for her.

The next second, she heard her son's voice as hoarse as it had been seven years ago.

"Don't worry, she won't want that child. She doesn't even want your son anymore."

Yan Suling felt a sudden pang in her heart, a genuine sense of heartache quietly settling over her.

She had poured her heart and soul into raising her son for so many years, yet he also had such a vulnerable side.

That feeling of heartache was quickly suppressed.

Yan Suling's tone was completely uncompromising: "That's for the best."

"As long as I live, that woman will never set foot in the Lu family."

Lu Junhe's smile faded, and his voice betrayed neither a joke nor his true feelings.

He said, "Mom, maybe I shouldn't come to the Lu family anymore."

"She doesn't want me, but I want her."
