Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 3 is about my mother.

As soon as Qu Yun arrived at the hotel, she started drinking water like crazy.

It's all that chubby boy's fault for asking her at least thirty times if she would pick him up on time after school.

Inside the staff changing room, Qu Yun looked down and straightened her uniform, then caught a glimpse of a furtive figure in the mirror.

She turned around, and her colleague said, seemingly very nervously, "Sister Qu Yun, the VIP guest in room 8888 complained about you last night."

"They said... they said the condoms were too small."

Qu Yun raised an eyebrow and asked, "Male or female?"

"Male."

Two hundred yuan will be deducted for each complaint, which can be considered as missing out on taking Cheng Chongchong out for barbecue.

Qu Yun thought to herself that she didn't intend to deal with it.

Seeing her lukewarm reaction, her colleague kindly reminded her, "Sister, the performance evaluation rules were changed at the end of last year. VIP complaints are now linked to the performance of the entire front desk team. If you don't handle customer complaints, everyone will have their pay docked."

Qu Yun took a deep breath.

I want to slap myself for what I did last night.

There will be a high-level meeting at noon.

Afterwards, Qu Yun remained alone in the conference room, as she still had some things to discuss with the hotel owner.

While waiting, Qu Yun couldn't help but reminisce about the past.

After her miscarriage, she used all the cash she had to buy a ticket for the nearest international flight.

That was Vancouver, with its long, humid rainy season.

She applied for a job as a hotel waitress in a sorry state, serving dishes, tidying up rooms, and dealing with all sorts of guests. She was even nearly raped, but luckily she met Lady Windsor.

The old lady came from an old European aristocratic family. Her husband and only son passed away one after another in their early years. The hotel was her husband's life's work, but the property rights were held by a distant relative.

Qu Yun returned to China to help regain control of the business.

The large screen in the conference room froze for a moment before the video call was connected.

Lady Windsor, seated in her wheelchair, exuded elegance with her full head of white hair: "According to my lawyer, the shareholders want to cash out at a high acquisition price, and I've heard that some domestic groups have already made strong bids."

"Qu, we need to speed things up."

Qu Yun nodded. "Okay, I'll find out which group it is first."

This hotel was not only important to Mrs. Windsor, but it was also the first real business asset in her life.

No matter the cost, she was determined to succeed.

Qu Yun kept sneezing during her afternoon shift at work.

Cheng Chongchong must be missing her at school.

She also missed that chubby boy.

As it was almost time for school to end, Qu Yun received a call from her teacher: "Hello, are you Cheng Chong's mother? I'm his homeroom teacher. Cheng Chong got into a fight with a classmate at school, and I need you to come over."

Qu Yun's face darkened instantly.

On her way to school, she specifically searched for it on her phone.

Great, hitting children isn't illegal in China!

Cheng Chongchong stood angrily on the left side of the blackboard, occasionally glaring at Lu Jinxing who was standing on the right.

He hates his deskmate!

This annoying deskmate not only ignored him, but when he helped him wipe the dirt off his homework, he got angry and even tried to snatch the teddy bear hanging on his backpack.

That was crocheted for him by Qu Yun herself.

Doesn't this classmate have a mother?

"Hmph, I'll teach you a lesson when my mom gets here!" Cheng Chongchong got angrier and angrier, and made a big face at Lu Jinxing.

Qu Yun arrived at school breathlessly and first learned what had happened from her homeroom teacher.

Perhaps because she hadn't encountered such an authentic "demon pill" in a long time, the female teacher even lost a few strands of hair. "Cheng Chong's mother, today Cheng Chong gave his deskmate a nickname, calling him Lu Buxing."

"Then he got his deskmate's notebook dirty... The two kids got into a fight over a small toy hanging on their backpacks. The other kid's parents haven't arrived yet, so you can go to the classroom to find your son."

Qu Yun was determined to teach Cheng Chong a lesson.

It's one thing to cause trouble, but how can you bully your classmates?

However, when she got to the classroom and saw the red patch on the chubby baby's neck, she was instantly heartbroken.

"Mom! That's my mom outside!" Cheng Chongchong danced with joy when she saw Qu Yunlai.

Lu Jinxing lowered his head, not wanting to look or speak.

Qu Yun squatted down, checked Cheng Chongchong's neck, and tried to hide her emotions, but her nose still stung with tears: "Does it hurt?"

The chubby boy scratched his head shyly and replied, "Hehe, Mom, there were mosquitoes in the classroom, so I scratched myself."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Qu Yun grabbed his ear.

Qu Yun glared at her and said, "Then let's settle your score. Why did you give your classmate a nickname?"

"Because...because I don't recognize the middle character of his name!"

Cheng Chongchong felt extremely wronged. After all, he had finished his self-introduction, but his deskmate hadn't said a word.

Besides, isn't the name Lu Buxing (鲁不行) quite nice?

The name his own father chose wasn't as good as the one he chose!

"What about the time you dirtied your classmate's homework?" Qu Yun asked, barely containing her anger.

Cheng Chongchong felt even more aggrieved.

In the afternoon, he was distributing snacks to his classmates. There were so many people surrounding him that his elbow accidentally bumped into his deskmate, causing his pencil to draw a long line on his notebook.

As a responsible and good child, Cheng Chongchong readily took out her new eraser to help him erase... Little did she know that the eraser was a gummy candy that Qu Yun had bought, and it looked very similar.

Qu Yun's brow twitched. "I'll deal with you later."

She walked up to the little boy standing on the right side of the classroom, looking at his cold expression with deep apology: "Little boy, I'm so sorry, it's all Cheng Chongchong's fault. Auntie will definitely teach him a lesson, and I'll replace the notebook he dirtied with a new one, okay?"

Perhaps it was because the woman's voice was too gentle, Lu Jinxing raised his face.

He was startled, and instinctively called out, "Mom..."

"What?" Qu Yun was also stunned for a moment before she could see the boy's face clearly.

Although he is still young, he has deep and handsome features, and possesses a coldness and numbness that should not be present at his age.

Upon closer inspection, it even feels somewhat familiar.

Lu Jinxing realized he had said the wrong thing, lowered his head again, and said in a deep voice, "My mother will be here soon too."

He told the first lie of his life.

Qu Yun covered her suddenly racing heart, nodded, and replied, "Okay, Auntie will wait here for your mother to come and apologize to her as well."

Lu Junhe received the call from the driver two hours later.

The driver sounded troubled: "The young master was called to school today. The old lady thinks he caused trouble on his first day of school and was very disobedient... so she hasn't allowed any of us to pick him up yet."

After all, he's only a seven-year-old child. No matter how mature he is, he'll still be scared, right?

Lu Junhe rubbed his tired temples, closed the acquisition documents in his hand, and said in a low voice, "Understood."

"I'll go pick him up."
