Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 4 Falling in Love with Others

As darkness fell, the sky gradually darkened.

Cheng Chongchong's stomach growled several times, and even his homeroom teacher couldn't bear to hear it and told him to go home with his mother first.

As for Lu Jinxing, since no parents have come to pick him up yet, he can only wait.

Under the moonlight, the shadows, one large and one small, were closely connected.

Cheng Chong suddenly squeezed Qu Yun's hand tightly, and said thoughtfully, "Mom, my deskmate only ate a little bit of rice at lunch. Does he have a small appetite?"

In just one second, Qu Yun understood what her good son was thinking.

She smiled and said, "We haven't cooked at home either, how about we invite your classmates to grab a bite nearby?"

Cheng Chongchong wiggled her hips, her back seemingly saying, "Qu Yun, you're the one who told me to call him!"

Lu Jinxing was unwilling to go, but Qu Yun persuaded him and asked for his parents' phone number. After sending a text message to inform them, he nodded at the pretty aunt.

For some reason, he always felt a sense of closeness to this aunt.

If he also had a mother... would it be like this?

Cheng Chongchong was clamoring for crayfish that were almost out of season, so Qu Yun turned around and asked the quiet boy following behind her, "Can you eat spicy food?"

Lu Jinxing shook his head and then nodded, somewhat embarrassed, and said, "I've never eaten it before."

His grandmother arranged all his meals. He had never eaten out, nor had anyone taken him out to eat.

"Hey, is your family really poor?" Cheng Chongchong asked bluntly, pushing the bowl and chopsticks that Qu Yun had scalded with boiling water in front of Lu Jinxing.

Qu Yun clicked her tongue.

Although I know that the chubby baby didn't mean any harm, those words were still too harsh.

She was peeling shrimp for her two children when she saw Lu Jinxing obediently say "thank you" to her, and her heart suddenly ached.

It must be because of that unfilial son, Cheng Chongchong!

Qu Yun then turned to chat with Lu Jinxing, learning that he had grown up here, that his family members were all very busy, and that he was a year older than Cheng Chongchong.

He was a genuine seven-year-old starting first grade.

The phone finally received a reply from Lu Jinxing's parents.

Qu Yun stood up and took off her greasy gloves: "I'll go to the door to meet you. You two can eat slowly."

The wind is always strong at night in Beijing.

Qu Yun stood at the shop entrance, shivering from the cold. She lowered her head and wrapped her coat tighter around herself. A pair of shiny black leather shoes suddenly appeared in front of her.

The other party must be Lu Jinxing's parents.

Qu Yun looked up to greet him, but froze when she saw the man's face.

How could the person who came be... Lu Junhe?

—He has a child.

At the same time, the man also caught a glimpse of a child standing out in the store.

Seven years later, for the first time, their unspoken understanding was evident in their simultaneous question: "Your son?"

Lu Junhe glanced at the direction inside the store again.

That kid looks a bit chubby. He gets soy sauce all over his mouth and clothes when he eats. I wonder who he took after. Maybe he has some kind of intellectual problem.

Lu Junhe casually put his hands in his pockets and said dismissively, "Your son doesn't look like you."

Qu Yun retorted, not to be outdone: "Your son doesn't look like you either."

As soon as she finished speaking, the man's eyes deepened, his gaze fixing on her intently.

After a long pause, Lu Junhe finally said sarcastically, "Yes, just like his heartless mother."

Qu Yun didn't know who the man was talking about, nor did she want to guess.

It could be Tang Bingqing, whom I met at the hotel yesterday, or it could be some other woman.

She suddenly remembered that a long time ago, when she was feverish, she grabbed Lu Junhe's hand and asked, "What if you fall in love with someone else in the future?"

The man stood by the bed, touched her forehead with his large, calloused hand, and said softly, "Then I won't mistreat you, as long as you're under my watchful eye."

"I will guarantee you a life of wealth and honor."

Qu Yun, not wanting to be taken advantage of, said in a daze, "Okay, then I'll use the money you give me to find a man who loves me, and then use your money to give him and his child the best material life."

A fleeting smile crossed Lu Junhe's eyes. He leaned down, bit her ear, and whispered, "You little rascal."

"You just won't suffer even the slightest loss from me."

In the middle of the night, Qu Yun's eyes were dry and burning from a fever, and everything looked blurry.

She only realized now that those were tears.

Lu Jinxing would look up every now and then.

My father seems to be... smiling?

He felt that his father and this beautiful aunt were a perfect match.

Beside him, Cheng Chongchong was enjoying a plate of peanuts that the landlady had given him.

Lu Jinxing thought to himself, if he could have a mother like Qu Yun, he would accept having an extra mentally challenged younger brother.

Just as Lu Junhe was about to walk into the store, a slender, white hand landed on his arm.

He glanced at Qu Yun, who had called out to him, with great interest.

Let her speak.

Qu Yun quickly withdrew her hand, took a deep breath, and said in a polite and apologetic tone, "Mr. Lu, I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience at our hotel last night."

"I hope you will withdraw your complaint, and I will do everything I can to make it up to you."

She didn't want to drag her colleagues down because of her mistakes.

Lu Junhe's lips curled up slightly. "I need a reason."

"Your reason for deliberately sending the wrong size."

The smallest size, it's amazing she even dared to show it off.

Qu Yun pursed her lips.

The next second, the man reached out and pinned her against the wall. His familiar, cold aura washed over her, and his voice carried a hint of mockery: "I think you should be the one who knows best."

After all, they've done quite a bit.

Except for the first time when neither of them was familiar with each other, Qu Yun would cry every time. It took him three whole weeks to coax her until she was willing to relax and to serve her comfortably.

Later, if he got impatient and accidentally hurt her, she would bite back or scratch him from behind.

My brother once saw his back covered in red welts at the gym and almost called a domestic violence hotline for him.

They say he's only in his twenties, so how come he ended up raising such a wild and unruly little cat?

He smiled and thought Qu Yun's fierce and unruly personality was quite cute.

Now, Lu Junhe also had a hint of coaxing in his voice, wanting Qu Yun to say it.

They say she did it on purpose.

That's right, it's jealousy.

The bright orange streetlights illuminated the road and also revealed Qu Yun's expressionless face.

Lu Junhe watched as Qu Yun lowered her head and bowed deeply at a ninety-degree angle in front of him, saying in the most unfamiliar tone, "Mr. Lu, I'm really sorry."

"Please be magnanimous and give our hotel another chance."

For a moment, Lu Junhe was so angry that his heart ached.

That's really great.

A sudden commotion erupted inside the crayfish restaurant. "Whose child is having trouble breathing? Come quick!"

"Should we call 120? We don't want anyone to die!"

Qu Yun and Lu Junhe rushed into the store together.

Lu Jinxing lay on the ground struggling, one hand tightly gripping his throat, his face flushed red as if he were about to explode.

Lu Junhe picked him up and calmly assessed the situation, saying, "It's a peanut allergy."

He drove directly to the hospital with his son.

Qu Yun stood there dumbfounded.

Looking at the plate of peanuts that had been accidentally spilled on the ground.

She realized that she was also severely allergic to peanuts.
