Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 9 Confession

Lu Junhe was stunned.

What did Qu Yun just say?

—That child wasn't her biological child.

Saving lives was the priority right now, and Lu Junhe didn't have time to think further. He whispered, "Take my blood. We have the same blood type."

He followed the nurse into the blood collection room.

The young nurse was quite nervous. Although she didn't know who the man in front of her was, the hospital director not only called to give her instructions as soon as he entered the hospital, but even came over in person.

It should be positioned with high weight.

The thin needle pierced the blood vessel, and blood began to flow out.

As Lu Junhe leaned against the hospital bed, he couldn't help but laugh when he thought about how Qu Yun had no children, no husband, and hadn't started a new family.

That's how despicable he is.

I can't stand that a woman I've loved day and night can so easily fall in love with another man.

The nurse looked terrified.

Did she manage to avoid hitting a nerve with the needle?

After the blood was drawn, Lu Junhe pressed a cotton ball against the bleeding spot on his arm and walked back to the operating room.

Qu Yun remained standing there, uneasy.

He stood behind her, watching silently.

As soon as the surgeon came out of the operating room and said that the child was fine and all that was left was to wait for the anesthesia to wear off, Qu Yun felt all her strength drain away and was about to collapse to the ground.

A lean, strong arm caught her steadily.

Qu Yun looked up and saw that it was Lu Junhe. She stood up and bowed her head deeply, expressing her heartfelt gratitude: "Thank you for being willing to donate blood to save my son."

"Thank you, thank you so much, I will definitely repay you..."

Lu Junhe opened his mouth, but then stopped himself from speaking.

Seeing the little girl's red eyes without shedding a single tear, he sincerely said, "You've become stronger."

It's true, things have changed.

Seven years ago, Qu Yun cried very easily. She would cry if she picked up an injured kitten on the street, or if the kitten ran out and was hit and killed because the maid didn't close the door properly. When she got home, she cried even more when she saw the maid blaming herself for the incident.

Lu Junhe didn't understand at the time. He said, "It's just a cat. I'll buy you a purebred one."

She tilted her head back, her crying shifting from sadness to anger, "That's different."

Lu Junhe could only hug her, resting his chin on the top of her fluffy head, stroking her hair with one hand: "Okay, okay, it's different."

"I just want to relieve your pain."

If Qu Yun cries because of an elderly man selling vegetables on the street, he will hire someone to buy all the vegetables every day. If he cries because of a hunchbacked scavenger collecting plastic bottles, he will establish a charitable foundation to provide free meals and lodging.

No matter how much it costs, we must stop her tears.

But in the end, she cried and said that all her suffering was caused by him, begging him to let go.

But he was powerless to do anything about it.

Lu Junhe felt a tightness in his chest.

Qu Yun shook her head, her bloodless lips pressed into a thin line.

Her phone rang at an inopportune moment.

Lu Junhe didn't intend to peek, but the words "Tongzhou" on the screen were really glaring.

Qu Yun walked to the window not far away to answer the phone.

The wind kept seeping into the open crack. Qu Yun tugged at the strand of hair she had just put in her mouth. After hearing a familiar "feed," her carefully maintained composure completely collapsed.

She covered her face, her sobbing echoing in the wind.

Lu Junhe only understood at this moment.

Qu Yun had simply stopped showing him her vulnerability.

On the phone, Cheng Tongzhou's voice was gentle: "It's good that Chongchong is alright now. How about you? Is anything wrong?"

Qu Yun's tears fell to the ground like beads from a broken string. "I'm fine. I'm sorry, Tongzhou. It's all my fault. I brought Chongchong with me, but I didn't take good care of him..."

Cheng Tongzhou felt even more guilty: "Ayun, it's my fault."

"I should be by your side and the child's side."

Before Cheng Chongchong woke up from the anesthesia, Qu Yun wanted to go home first to bring him some personal items such as underwear and a water cup.

"Let me get it for you." Lu Junhe's voice had become hoarse at some point. He turned to the side and blocked Qu Yun's way of leaving.

Qu Yun shook her head again, but after crying, she felt a little stronger: "No need, you don't know where those things are kept."

She seemed unwilling to say more. She prepared to call a taxi on her phone. After typing in the four characters "Mingzhu Garden", she said, "I'll take a taxi and come back quickly."

The neighborhood is decades old, so the streetlights are very dim, and today even the lights in the stairwells are off.

Qu Yun climbed up to the third floor in one breath and opened the door with her key.

"Pat-pat, pat-pat."

I pressed the light switch by the door twice, but the lights inside still wouldn't turn on.

It's most likely a power outage.

Qu Yun didn't think much of it, after all, her elderly neighbor had mentioned not long ago that there were frequent power outages, probably because the building was old and the circuit breaker was broken.

She took out her phone and turned on the flashlight.

As soon as the light came on, a dark shadow suddenly flashed past Qu Yun.

Immediately afterwards, her phone was knocked away with a "smack," and the screen shattered.

In the darkness, a heavy breathing sound grew closer.

Qu Yun didn't dare to cry out, but suddenly took a step back, her back hitting the cold wall.

She remained calm and said, "Take whatever you want. I didn't see your face. I won't call anyone or the police. My child is still waiting for me in the hospital."

Hopefully, this thief will only steal money and not kill.

There was no response from the other party. Qu Yun remembered that there was a newly bought fruit knife on the cabinet in the entryway. No matter what, she had to protect herself, so she slowly reached out to take it.

However, even after stretching his arm back for a long time, he still couldn't touch the cabinet.

The cabinet should be against the wall!

When Qu Yun realized what was happening, a fine layer of cold sweat appeared on her forehead.

She didn't bump her back against the wall, but against another thief!

"Tie her up," the man behind her said.

The melody paused for a moment.

She could see nothing but danger lurking nearby.

*

An announcement suddenly came over the loudspeaker at the hospital's emergency room.

"Attention security department, ambulance is about to pick up a trauma patient at Mingzhu Garden. Suspected burglary and assault."

Qu Yun used to live at this address when she was in school.

She didn't apply for accommodation so she could work part-time at a convenience store in the evenings.

Lu Junhe's face instantly darkened.

He grabbed the car keys and ran out without even checking.

There is even a one in ten thousand chance that it is a melody.

He then had no way to gamble.

The car sped along the road like a madman.

Lu Junhe stared into the darkness ahead and dialed a new number that he knew by heart but had never dialed before.

The repetitive mechanical tone of waiting for the call to connect was incredibly annoying.

The voice would only repeat: "The number you dialed is currently switched off. You will be redirected to voicemail in three seconds..."

The carriage was quiet for a moment.

Lu Junhe took a deep breath, his eyes dark: "Qu Yun."

"You must take good care of yourself; be careful, you are our child."

"It's our biological child."
