Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 98 Being kicked out

The sky outside the French windows was dark and gloomy, as if another heavy rain was about to fall.

The male secretary stood bowing in front of the desk, waiting for a reply.

Lu Junhe didn't turn around, and replied in a cold voice, "Refuse it."

"Just say I'm busy."

The secretary nodded and was about to leave the office when Yan Suling, sitting on the sofa next to her, looked up, a hint of displeasure between her brows: "So you're just using being busy as an excuse to brush me off?"

"If there are no rules or regulations, anyone with the will can easily get a meeting by waiting downstairs. Over time, all sorts of irrelevant people will take turns coming to harass us. How can the company's daily operations proceed?"

Yan Suling's implication was quite clear.

—She wanted to drive Qu Yun away directly.

It's best to do things in the most embarrassing way possible.

The secretary looked troubled, not daring to disobey the noblewoman's orders.

Lu Junhe merely glanced at his mother without offering any rebuttal.

He seemed to tacitly approve of this decision.

Only then did the secretary dare to hurriedly go downstairs.

Yan Suling picked up the teacup on the table again, lowered her eyes, and took a small sip.

The tea had gotten a little cold, but her tone softened, probably satisfied with how the little incident had been handled. "Let's get back to business. Your wedding with Tang Bingqing has been postponed for a few more days. When do you plan to set a new wedding date?"

Lu Junhe remained silent for a long time.

"In any case, Tang Bingqing is impeccable in character and family background. After she enters the family, she will be the perfect candidate to manage household affairs or help you build your network."

Yan Suling leaned back on the sofa and said slowly, "The most important thing is that you don't love her."

"She is the best choice for your marriage."

Lu Junhe lowered his head and gave a cold laugh.

I never expected the wedding to turn out like that, and his mother didn't seem to care about the embarrassment at all.

The Tang family didn't even agree to annul the engagement.

Tang Bingqing was a pawn in his mother's game.

He was the same.

Suppressing all the sarcasm in his heart, Lu Junhe showed no sign of resistance on his face. He said calmly, "I understand. Let's reschedule for next month."

His plan can continue.

We shouldn't have taken any chances in the first place.

Yan Suling did not refute, her tense features relaxed, "Next month is fine."

"Only after it's all done can both families feel at ease."

Qu Yun sat on the guest sofa, legs together, waiting anxiously.

After quite a while, Lu Junhe's secretary finally arrived.

He said in a low voice, "Manager Qu, I'm so sorry, President Lu has an urgent matter to attend to and can't make it to see you today. Please go back first."

"It's alright." Qu Yun had expected this, her fingertips gripping the edge of the sofa tightly. "I can wait here until he's finished."

A hint of unease flashed across the secretary's eyes. As instructed by Ms. Yan, this woman was not allowed to linger in the company under any circumstances.

After several attempts to persuade him to no avail, he had no choice but to call security to handle the situation.

Two uniformed security guards arrived quickly, grabbed Qu Yun's arms from both sides, and dragged her out of the revolving door as if she were a troublemaker.

Qu Yun's elbow slammed heavily against a metal pillar, the pain bringing tears to her eyes.

Dark, heavy clouds hung overhead.

The older security guard advised with a hint of helplessness, "Young lady, it's about to rain. Don't linger here, go home soon."

After saying that, the two of them turned around and went back into the building.

Qu Yun raised her hand and rubbed her reddened elbow, waiting patiently in place.

She needs to explain things clearly to Lu Junhe.

The phone in my bag suddenly rang.

When Qu Yun saw that the caller ID was Aunt Qiu Hong, she thought something had happened to her mother.

Aunt Qiu Hong asked her over the phone to find a well-known criminal lawyer in Beijing.

She said she had found the murderer who pushed Wang Bing into the river.

Qu Yun was startled and asked in a trembling voice, "Who is it?"

"Remember when I told you that Wang Bing raped a girl from the next village? That girl..."

That night, Wang Bing was walking down the street drunk when he encountered this girl who was returning home late because she was working in town.

Fueled by alcohol, he tried to grope her again, saying that at worst they could get engaged, and that the girl's parents would agree because they were worried about her reputation.

The girl bit her lip tightly. Just as Wang Bing's hand touched her chest, all those terrible memories from the past flooded back to her. She subconsciously pushed Wang Bing away.

He stepped on a stone, slipped, and fell into the river.

Because he was too drunk, he couldn't muster the strength to swim, even though he knew how.

The police have now come to the door and taken the girl away.

Her parents didn't know anyone in the big city, and they were really driven to desperation, so they asked Qu Yun for help.

Qu Yun did not refuse, and agreed to help, and even paid the high lawyer fees in advance.

Regardless, an innocent girl's life should not be ruined like this.

The moment the call ended, a pale white flash of lightning erupted on the horizon, followed by a deafening clap of thunder.

Large raindrops poured down from the sky, and Qu Yun quickly took shelter under the eaves of a nearby house. However, the narrow eaves could not shield her from the fierce wind, and the rain poured down, constantly soaking her shoulders and trouser legs.

Her elbow, which had just been bumped, was wet with icy rainwater, and a stinging pain came in waves. Most of her body was soaked, and the cold seeped into her bones through her limbs.

Qu Yun looked up at the dark sky.

This is probably God's punishment for her.

After signing the last document on the table, Lu Junhe rubbed his throbbing temples. Even though he had already finished all the other tasks, he kept flipping through irrelevant reports, wasting time.

Outside the window, the rain was pouring down; Qu Yun probably couldn't take it anymore and left long ago.

Lu Junhe got up, straightened his suit, and took the elevator directly to the first floor.

The spacious lobby was brightly lit, and the waiting area was empty, with not a soul in sight.

After the driver came over with an umbrella, Lu Junhe did not hesitate and bent down to get into the car.

After getting in the car, the driver folded his umbrella and said politely, "This rain is really heavy."

"Mr. Lu, shall I take you directly back to your villa?"

Lu Junhe closed his eyes and gave a faint "hmm".

It was as if nothing concerned him anymore.

The driver stepped on the gas and started the car.

Suddenly, a thin, dark figure rushed out from the roadside. He quickly slammed on the brakes, and the tires screeched as they rolled over the puddles.

The immense inertia caused Lu Junhe to lean forward, his forehead nearly hitting the back of the seat in front of him.

"Maybe...maybe some small animal like a stray cat has run out." The driver gripped the steering wheel tightly, still shaken. "Mr. Lu, just to be safe, I'll go check it out."

Lu Junhe remained silent and closed his eyes again.

The car door opened and closed again.

The driver's voice rang out clearly from outside the car: "What's wrong with you, woman? It's so dangerous to rush onto the road in this heavy rain."

"Are you out of your mind?!"

Lu Junhe suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze piercing through the curtain of rain, and saw Qu Yun, who was soaked to the bone and in a terrible state.

She looked over at the same time, just across the glass.
