The entertainment empire began with Liu Yifei's premarital pregnancy.

Right after "Love is Not Blind" broke 2485 million in box office revenue in a single day, a group of reporters blocked Chen Kaige at his doorstep.

"Has director Chen Kaige seen 'Love is Not Blind'?"

"Just yesterday, 'Love is Not Blind' broke the single-day box office record set by 'The Promise'. What are your thoughts on this?"

The reporters excitedly shoved their microphones at Chen Kaige.

Before the release of "Love is Not Blind", the record for the highest single-day box office in mainland China was 2200 million yuan, set by "The Promise".

"Director Chen Kaige, 'The Promise' is now grossing less than a million yuan a day, and its reputation isn't as good as 'Love is Not Blind.' What are your thoughts on this?"

Clearly, these reporters love a good story; the bigger the story, the better.

"First of all, I haven't seen the movie 'Love is Not Blind'."

Chen Kaige originally didn't want to be interviewed, but the reporters kept trying to mess with his mindset by bringing up "The Promise".

"All I want to say is that 'The Promise' is a film with artistic aspirations. Its current poor reputation does not represent its future. I dare say that in ten years, everyone will regard 'The Promise' as a classic."

Only Chen Kaige himself would dare to say and believe such a thing.

"According to Director Chen, does that mean Director Lin's 'Love is Not Blind' is inferior to your 'The Promise'?"

The reporters didn't care what Chen Kaige meant; they just wanted to interpret his answer according to their own ideas.

"Director Chen Kaige, are you implying that 'Love is Not Blind' lacks artistry and is a terrible film even worse than 'The Promise'?"

Chen Kaige originally wanted to explain that he didn't mean it that way, but when he heard the other party say that "The Promise" was a bad movie, he couldn't hold back anymore and exploded.

"I'll reiterate once again, 'The Promise' is not a bad movie!"

After saying that, Chen Kaige stormed off angrily.

Compared to the furious Chen Kaige, the reporters present all looked happy.

Soon, a news article titled "[Chen Kaige angrily denounces 'Love is Not Blind' as a terrible movie]" quickly appeared on major websites.

As soon as Chen Kaige returned home, he saw Chen Hong sitting on the sofa with a bitter expression on her face.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

Chen Kaige looked at Chen Hong with a puzzled expression.

"Old Chen, I know you've been in a bad mood lately because of 'The Promise,' but you can't just talk nonsense," Chen Hong said, looking at Chen Kaige with a headache.

"Nonsense, what nonsense am I talking about?"

Chen Kaige was completely confused.

"Look, everyone online is saying that you're criticizing 'Love is Not Blind' as a terrible movie."

As Chen Hong spoke, she opened a webpage and pointed it out to Chen Kaige, then looked at him and said, "Even if you really think that way, you can't just say it to others."

"Love is Not Blind" just broke the single-day box office record set by "The Promise", and then Chen Kaige made this statement.

Not only did he offend Lin Bufan, but he also gave the outside world the impression of being a sore loser.

Lin Bufan is no longer an unknown figure.

Previously, he was just a directing student in the 02 class of Beijing Film Academy who had not yet graduated. But now, he has not only established a company and produced commercial films such as "Love is Not Blind," but also directed "Manchester by the Sea" in Hollywood and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

It can be said that Lin Bufan is now enjoying both fame and fortune. Offending the other party now would be extremely unwise, as there is no conflict of interest involved.

"No, I didn't!"

Chen Kaige immediately denied everything, explaining to Chen Hong what had just happened.

"So that means those reporters were just making things up, and it wasn't your true intention?"

Chen Hong looked at Chen Kaige with a puzzled expression.

"Of course."

Chen Kaige nodded seriously.

He's not stupid. He has no conflict or contradiction with Lin Bufan right now, so why would he offend him for no reason?

"In that case, leave this matter to me."

"good!"

……

"Boss, Ms. Chen Hong said that those news stories online are all made up by reporters..."

After hanging up the phone, Bai Bing turned on her computer, found the news, and showed it to Lin Bufan.

"These reporters really seem to thrive on chaos."

Lin Bufan shook his head slightly; things are different now than in later generations.

In later generations, as long as you own a mobile phone, you can call yourself a blogger and freely express your opinions online; it's the era of everyone being a self-media creator.

But things are different now. The power of discourse is in the hands of journalists; otherwise, there wouldn't be the saying that journalists are the uncrowned kings.

"Boss, Miss Chen Hong said she has booked the Mei family banquet at 8 pm tonight and wants to personally apologize to you."

Bai Bing looked at Lin Bufan.

Tell her I'll be there promptly before eight o'clock.

After considering it for a moment, Lin Bufan agreed immediately.

Whether or not he apologizes is not important to Lin Bufan; what matters is Chen Kaige.

Undeniably, Chen Kaige is a very talented person.

The failure of "The Promise" was because he indulged himself too much, trying to film everything, resulting in a hodgepodge where nothing was filmed well.

If you want Chen Kaige to tell a good story, you need to give him a fixed framework and let him play within that framework.

Comparing "Farewell My Concubine" and "The Promise", the former is far superior to "The Promise" not only in terms of storytelling and coherence, but also in the actors.

The cast of "Farewell My Concubine" was huge, including big names like Leslie Cheung, Gong Li, Zhang Fengyi, and Ge You. In contrast, the difference in "The Promise" is enormous.

Of course, the most important thing is the storyline. The storyline of "The Promise" is too melodramatic, and Chen Kaige is a bit too self-indulgent.

Just like the movie "A Bloodbath Caused by a Steamed Bun" that's currently trending online, the plot is ridiculous and doesn't hold up to scrutiny, and the dialogue is outrageous. How could such a movie possibly be good?

……

At 8 p.m., in the private room of the Mei family banquet, Lin Bufan was with Bai Bing, and the other party was Chen Kaige and Chen Hong, a married couple.

"Director Lin, welcome!"

Chen Hong stood at the door of the private room, welcoming Lin Bufan.

"Madam Chen, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."

Lin Bufan looked at Chen Hong in front of him and couldn't help but feel emotional.

As expected of the former number one beauty in mainland China, Chen Hong, born in 68, is already 38 years old this year.

Time never defeats a beauty, indeed.

At 38, Chen Hong is still radiant and beautiful; it has to be said that Chen Kaige is eating very well.

"Director Lin, what happened today was due to my husband, Mr. Chen, speaking carelessly. I apologize to you here."

Inside the private room, Chen Hong picked up her wine glass, finished speaking, and drank it all in one gulp.

The fact that Chen Hong was able to snatch Chen Kaige from Ni Ping's hands, and that there are rumors that Chen Hong firmly controls the family's finances, shows that her shrewdness and methods are definitely extraordinary.

Normally, Lin Bufan has only just begun to make a name for himself, so she doesn't need to lower herself like this.
