The entertainment empire began with Liu Yifei's premarital pregnancy.

Before the Oscar banquet was over, Lin Bufan brought Yang Mi and Casey Affleck to Extraordinary Pictures.

The main reason for bringing Casey Affleck over was to sign him. Lin Bufan had already discussed the male lead role in "Night at the Museum" with Casey Affleck.

"Night at the Museum" boasts a big-budget cast and an investment of over $100 million. In Hollywood as a whole, there aren't many projects that invest over $100 million a year, and almost 90% of them are controlled by the Big Eight studios.

With such great resources, Casey Affleck naturally had no choice but to accept them.

Even if he wins the Oscar for Best Actor now, resources won't come immediately, and investors will have to observe whether he can handle the box office.

As for his salary, after starring in "Manchester by the Sea," his salary was only a few hundred thousand US dollars. Now that he has won the Oscar for Best Director, his salary has directly increased to three million US dollars.

Ultimately, at Casey Affleck's request, he only accepted a million-dollar salary.

The production and distribution company for "Manchester by the Sea" was Extraordinary Pictures. In return for his kindness, he only accepted a one million dollar salary, simply to repay the favor.

"Carter, when will filming for 'Final Destination' begin?"

After Casey Affleck left, Lin Bufan looked at Carter and asked him directly.

"Boss, according to the plan, we expect to start filming within a week," Carter said seriously.

The company has been preparing for the "Final Destination" project for a long time. From the director to the crew to the actors, everything is in place. As long as Lin Bufan gives the word, filming can begin within a week.

"Send someone to take good care of Mimi."

Lin Bufan looked at Carter with a serious expression and gave him his instructions.

He was the only one in China who truly understood the yearning for Hollywood and how xenophobic and discriminatory Hollywood was towards Chinese actors.

"Final Destination" is a movie produced by his own company. How could he allow those white and black people to bully the woman he had chosen?

"clear!"

Carter nodded with a serious expression.

Don't assume that Westerners don't understand human relationships. The clever Carter knew very well that this woman named Yang Mi had a special relationship with his boss.

A woman's influence from her pillow can be very powerful.

Carter didn't want to fall into this trap one day. Even if Lin Bufan hadn't told him, he had already decided to send someone to take good care of Yang Mi's food, clothing, accommodation, and transportation in Hollywood.

Seeing Carter's serious expression, Lin Bufan nodded in relief.

Extraordinary Pictures has been established for more than half a year, and Lin Bufan still trusts Carter to handle things.

Just like this public relations Oscar for Best Director, Carter handled everything, and Lin Bufan was very satisfied with the final result. Moreover, it didn't cost much money. The initial budget was 20 million US dollars, but Carter only used 12 million US dollars to achieve it.

"Bufan, when are you planning to return to China?"

After Carter left, only Lin Bufan and Yang Mi remained in the office, the latter looking at him somewhat uneasily.

With Lin Bufan around, Yang Mi wasn't nervous at all, even in a foreign country where she was completely unfamiliar with the place.

However, Lin Bufan was about to return to China, and this was Yang Mi's first time going abroad. It was impossible for her not to be nervous.

"The film crew is still waiting for me, maybe the day after tomorrow..."

Lin Bufan thought for a moment and looked at Yang Mi.

He understood Yang Mi's anxiety, but the crew of "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" in China was still waiting for him, and he couldn't stay here for too long; the day after tomorrow was his limit.

"I'll send someone to handle things at the domestic studio for you."

What Lin Bufan was referring to was Zeng Jia's question.

Yang Mi is unable to return to China for the time being due to filming commitments, so Lin Bufan has to help handle matters related to her studio.

Zeng Jia definitely needs to be replaced, and the sooner the better.

"I……"

Yang Mi's gaze was somewhat complicated. She used to trust Zeng Jia very much, but recently, even if Lin Bufan didn't say anything, she could vaguely sense that something was wrong with the things Zeng Jia had done.

In fact, during occasional conversations, she could sense that Zeng Jia treated her as a tool to make money, rather than a business partner.

Whenever the topic of the studio's future plans comes up, Zeng Jia always tells Yang Mi in the same tone that all she needs to do is focus on filming, and she doesn't need to worry about other things like company matters.

At first glance, these words seem to be for her benefit, but upon closer examination, they are actually marginalizing her.

All of that was fine until some recent events involved Lin Bufan, which finally made Yang Mi decide to agree to Lin Bufan replacing Zeng Jia.

"Boss, something's happened back home..."

Before Yang Mi could finish speaking, Bai Bing knocked on the door and came in with a serious expression.

"What happened back home?"

Lin Bufan frowned slightly as he looked at Bai Bing.

Bai Bing had been with him for several months, and he knew her personality very well. If something really important hadn't happened, she definitely wouldn't have been so rash as to come in without even knocking.

"Domestic media have exposed the news that Ms. Liu Yifei had a child out of wedlock with her boss."

Bai Bing's tone was heavy.

Having spent several months by Lin Bufan's side, she had seen a lot about what was happening in the entertainment industry.

After this news was released, Lin Bufan's situation was secondary; the main harm was to Liu Yifei.

"Boss, what do we do now? Should we respond to the media?"

Seeing Lin Bufan's serious expression and furrowed brows, Bai Bing had no idea what his boss was thinking.

When is the next flight back to China?

Lin Bufan looked at Bai Bing, his tone serious.

"An hour later."

"Book a flight home!"

"Yes, boss!"

After Bai Bing left, Lin Bufan turned to Yang Mi and said, "Mi Mi, I'm sorry, I have to go back to China now."

He had just promised Yang Mi that he would spend two days with her in Los Angeles.

"Domestic matters are more important."

Yang Mi shook her head slightly.

How could she not feel disappointed? But she knew what she should and shouldn't do.

At this time, Liu Yifei in China needs him the most.

"I'll make it up to you next time."

Lin Bufan nodded, said a few words, and turned to leave.

Watching Lin Bufan leave in a hurry, Yang Mi felt both gratified and somewhat disappointed.

Thankfully, he is indeed the man I chose; he has never let me down in crucial moments.

What disappointed her was that she wasn't the female lead.

……

"Boss, we've found out. The news was initially leaked to entertainment reporters by Chen Jinfei's secretary."

On the plane back to China, Bai Bing told Lin Bufan the latest news she had found.

Clearly, Chen Jinfei did not deliberately hide anything, which is why Bai Bing was able to find out the information so quickly and easily.

"Chen Jinfei..."

Lin Bufan's expression turned cold.

Chen Jinfei was clearly telling him that he was seeking revenge.
