Today is July 1st, 2005. It's also the day Lin Bufan arrived in Los Angeles.

"It's actually the script for this movie."

Lin Bufan's heart stirred slightly upon hearing the voice.

In the blink of an eye, a week has passed.

"BOSS!"

Carter Dennis knocked on the door and entered the office.

"Carter, you've come at the right time. Help me find an actor. His name is Casey Affleck."

Lin Bufan greeted Carter when he saw him enter.

Within a week, Lin Bufan established a film company in Los Angeles, which is called Extraordinary Film Company.

Carter is the general manager of Extraordinary Pictures.

"Okay, BOSS."

Cardi nodded, turned and left.

To be on the safe side, Lin Bufan decided to use the original cast for the film "Manchester by the Sea," partly to keep costs down.

Compared to Casey in 16, it's only 05 now, so Casey's salary is definitely not high.

Just as Lin Bufan had predicted, Carter brought Cassie to Lin Bufan the next day.

"Boss, the person has been brought!"

"Hello!"

Cassie stood somewhat awkwardly in front of Lin Bufan.

Compared to later generations, Casey at this time was not even considered a third-rate actor in Hollywood, and was equivalent to a featured extra in China.

"This is part of the script. I'll give you an hour. If you pass the audition, the role is yours."

Looking at the slightly reserved Cassie in front of him, Lin Bufan frowned slightly. It was certain that Cassie's salary was low at this time, but his acting skills were definitely not as good as those of later generations, after all, there was a difference of more than ten years.

Just to be on the safe side, Lin Bufan decided to let the other party give it a try. If it really didn't work, he wouldn't use Cassie no matter how cheap it was.

An hour later, Cassie put down the script and looked at Lin Bufan with a serious expression.

This opportunity was incredibly precious to him.

Let's begin!

Lin Bufan nodded to Cassie.

Lin Bufan asked Cassie to audition for a scene where the protagonist accidentally burns his three children to death and then breaks down and commits suicide in the police station.

The role of Lee Chandler seems to be a role that Casey was destined for.

"Congratulations, this role is yours."

After Cassie finished her performance, Lin Bufan clapped applause with approval.

……

"Cut, Cassie, you should be a little more subtle in expressing your emotions..."

Lin Bufan, sitting behind the monitor, called out.

"OK!"

Cassie nodded.

"Action!"

Patrick looked at Lee Chandler and asked, "Why can't you stay?"

Lee Chandler looked at his 16-year-old nephew, shook his head slightly, as if talking about something completely unrelated to himself, and said, "I can't beat it."

"Passed!"

As the crew became more and more harmonious, the filming progress finally accelerated considerably.

What annoyed Lin Bufan the most was that filming had to stop after get off work and he couldn't work overtime, otherwise he would have to pay exorbitant overtime pay.

Lin Bufan originally expected the film to be completed in about two months, but it was not until October 8th that the film was finally finished.

"I now announce that filming for 'Manchester by the Sea' has wrapped!"

Lin Bufan shouted, and the entire crew cheered.

Manchester by the Sea is such a heavy story that even though it's not finished yet, as filming progresses, the crew members already know the general plot.

"Director Lin!"

Cassie walked over, her expression somewhat grave.

"Cassie, are you alright?"

Lin Bufan looked at Cassie, whose expression was unusual, and asked with concern.

"It's alright, you just need to go back and rest."

After saying goodbye to Lin Bufan, Cassie left.

Watching the other person leave, Lin Bufan knew that Cassie was too immersed in the role, and there was nothing he could do about it except let him come out of it on his own.

Undeniably, Casillas' acting skills at this time were certainly not as good as they would be more than a decade later. But precisely because of this, Casillas immersed himself in the role in order to play it well.

While the acting has some minor flaws, it makes the performance feel more authentic.

After filming wrapped on "Manchester by the Sea," Lin Bufan returned to the editing room of his Los Angeles company with the footage he had shot to begin editing the film.

With a complete script and storyboard, Lin Bufan completed the editing in just one week.

"BOSS..."

When the movie ended, Carter, who was over forty years old, cried like a child.

"Carter, the rest is up to you!"

Lin Bufan looked at Carter with slightly red eyes.

"Yes, Boss!"

Carter replied with a serious expression.

This movie was Lin Bufan's way of aiming for an Oscar; the rest of the operational work was left to Carter.

After leaving the company and returning to his rented apartment in Los Angeles, Lin Bufan took a bath and then had a good night's sleep.

……

The next day, Lin Bufan came to the company and called Carter over.

"The infiltration can be initiated."

As Lin Bufan spoke, he tossed the script for "Lurking 1" to Carter.

这个剧本，是林不凡10月1号那天签到获得的，除此之外还有8月9月签到的《博物馆奇妙夜1》和《我是传奇》这两部电影。

"Yes, Boss!"

Carter took the script.

The Insidious series consists of five films, with the first one, in particular, costing only $1.5 million to make but grossing a staggering $1.67 million worldwide.

Originally, the film was directed by James Wan, but now that Lin Bufan has provided the script, including the storyboard, all that's needed is to find a qualified director.

In just over three months, Lin Bufan earned more than 100 million yuan in cash through signing in, which is only a little over 10 million US dollars. "Night at the Museum" and "I Am Legend" are big investments, so their launch had to be postponed.

……

"I'm back!"

Lin Bufan stepped off the plane.

Today is October 21st. Lin Bufan's trip to Hollywood lasted nearly four months.

After returning to the capital, Lin Bufan took a taxi home. He had just finished washing up when he heard a knock on the door.

Lin Bufan was drying his hair with a bath towel when he opened the door and saw Yang Mi standing prettily at the door.

"Lin Bufan, you bastard, you're finally back!"

Yang Mi looked at Lin Bufan in front of her, her emotions fluctuating wildly.

Lin Bufan disappeared without a word, without telling her beforehand. Yang Mi only found out later when she called Lin Bufan that this scoundrel had gone to Hollywood without a word.
