Chapter 22 Constantine, the Conscientious Seller

"Vampires?" Jessica Jones raised an eyebrow. "I thought they only existed in legends."

"But now the truth is right before your eyes..." Constantine's gaze swept across the alley. "Damn it, all that's left is ashes."

Matt frowned. "Are they contagious? It seems they were human at some point in their lives."

"Of course, getting bitten by them could turn you into a blood slave," Constantine chuckled. "You guys don't have any scratches or bites on you, do you?"

"Damn it," Matt said immediately, his voice trembling with anxiety. "There might still be blood slaves in the sewers. If they spread, the whole of New York will fall."

"I can help you," Jessica Jones said. Although the purple man had left Jessica Jones with a lifelong psychological trauma, Jessica still sincerely wanted to be a good person.

It is precisely because of this that the Purple Man was able to exploit Jessica's kindness and escape from her clutches time and time again.

Otherwise, let alone Jessica, even the Goose Counterterrorism Bureau could have killed the Purple Man.

As everyone knows, the Goose Counterterrorism Bureau doesn't care about hostages!

"Thanks, I came here specifically to invite you," Matt said. "Besides you, Luke Cage is next. Please, Constantine, work with us for now. I've contacted Coulson to settle your payment."

Constantine nodded and smiled. "You can tell Coulson how difficult these blood slaves are to kill, and I happen to have a batch of weapons that can take care of them. Buy them quickly."

Upon hearing this, Matt's face lit up with joy. Jessica used enough force to smash a person into mincemeat before she could beat a blood slave into submission.

Such a formidable opponent, and unfortunately, once bitten or scratched, can lead to infection.

If there were a way to easily kill the blood slaves, it would be good news for the entire Ariaken.

He immediately nodded and said, "If it's true, that would be wonderful. You can let us try it out first. S.H.I.E.L.D. will cover the cost!"

"Of course." Constantine nodded readily, pulling a one-pound bag from his trench coat. "This is a trial sample of Holy Light Crystals. Just sprinkle it on the blood slaves and they will suffer unbearable pain."

Matt frowned slightly, untied his pocket, felt around, and said, "Why does this feel like rice to me?"

Jessica Jones leaned over and took a closer look: "It's rice."

Constantine shook his finger and laughed, "No, this is no ordinary rice! It's divine rice that I recited the Bible under the image of God, sang hymns with the Pope, and was blessed by the four exorcists! It's the crystallization of the hope of the Vatican!"

If I told you that ordinary rice bought in Chinatown could deal with the blood slaves, would you believe me? This bag of rice… Holy Rice is priceless! It's worth at least three million!

"Three million?" Matt exclaimed. "Didn't you say it would be free?"

Constantine shook his head and said, "Considering we're all outsourced workers for S.H.I.E.L.D., I'll give you a rock-bottom price, a painful sell-off. How much do you have on you?"

Matt began, "I only have two hundred thousand in operational funds."

"Two hundred thousand?" Constantine sighed, looking pained. "If I give you all of it, your next move will be difficult, but losing one hundred thousand would be such a loss for me..."

"I still have 20,000 dollars." Jessica Jones thought it over again and again, but for the greater good and for the safety of the citizens of New York, Jessica Jones still emptied her small wallet.

Constantine, looking deeply moved, said, "I can see that you two are both willing to make sacrifices. Let's make it 120,000!"

Before long, Constantine left the alley with a check for 100,000 dollars and 20,000 dollars in loose change, humming a little tune.

After walking around a few corners, I saw Ah You sitting on the curb. Ah You looked at me and said irritably, "What were you doing? It took you so long to buy fireworks?"

"Oh, I ran into two foreigners while buying cigarettes, so I tried to scam them out of some money."

……

Matt, carrying sticky rice, and Jessica Jones walked through Hell's Kitchen.

"We need to find a place to test it out," Matt said.

Jessica Jones nodded: "Should we go to the sewers to look for the blood slaves?"

"No, I heard the sound of an attack not far away."

Matt frowned slightly, listened carefully, and accurately analyzed the sound amidst the myriad noises.

A strong, powerful heartbeat battles a group of monsters with no heartbeats, only growls.

The person sounded like they were wearing armor, which immediately reminded Matt of the information S.H.I.E.L.D. had given him.

Like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage is a superhuman, possessing the same indestructible body and strength as the third brother of the Calabash Brothers.

"It's over there, let's go now," Matt said, leading Jessica Jones, who possesses superhuman strength, on a parkour adventure through Hell's Kitchen, where countless roofs risk leaking as a result.

Fortunately, Luke Cage was not far away.

"This is it." Matt kicked open the door and led Jessica Jones inside.

Jessica Jones frowned. "There's nobody here."

Matt walked without hesitation: "It's right behind the house."

Jessica Jones followed and saw a burly black man fighting with several blood slaves behind the house.

The blood slave was covered in wounds, with bones piercing through his skin and protruding from his body.

The scene was extremely bloody for a moment, but fortunately Luke Cage had incredibly tough skin, so even gunfire couldn't penetrate it.

Not to mention the blood slaves right in front of us.

However, the blood slaves are too resilient and too difficult to deal with.

In his panic, Luke Cage saw someone enter, but instead of feeling relieved, he shouted, "Run!"

He had been fighting these monsters for hours and was already exhausted, knowing all too well just how difficult they were to deal with.

It's not something an ordinary person can handle.

However, Luke Cage's warning came too late. Blood slaves had already spotted Matt and Jessica Jones and immediately abandoned Luke Cage, whom they couldn't chew, and launched an attack on Matt and Jessica Jones instead.

"Matt!" Jessica Jones exclaimed immediately.

Matt moved even faster, untying the bag with one hand and tossing a handful of glutinous rice at the blood slaves running towards him.

Because he was worried about the effect, Matt splashed a lot of it this time.

Jessica saw Matt scatter a patch of glutinous rice, which immediately crackled and popped on the blood slaves who were hit, like a series of firecrackers.

There were even sparks flying, and the blood slave immediately collapsed to the ground as if he had been electrocuted.

"The effect is actually that good?" Jessica Jones exclaimed in surprise.

"It seems Constantine is a fair seller; he only asked for 120,000." Matt was filled with gratitude. "I must thank him properly next time we meet!"

Luke Cage stared wide-eyed in disbelief. He had almost twisted the heads off the "zombies," yet they hadn't lost their ability to move.

They were instantly defeated?
