Chapter 23 Prelude to a Major Event? Yan Shuangying Reappears

"Do you recognize these monsters?" Luke Cage asked, having regained some of his strength.

Matt replied, "These monsters are called Blood Slaves, they're transformed from vampires. What I have in my hand is blessed... rice."

Matt hesitated for a moment, but ultimately couldn't bring himself to say the name "Crystal of Light".

"On the bright side, at least they don't have to go to work anymore," Jessica Jones joked. "Judging from their clothes, they probably didn't work in any decent jobs before."

Luke Cage smiled. "You sound a bit cynical. Are you guys specifically targeting blood slaves?"

"I'm here to invite you to join us," Matt began, recounting the recent events that had transpired.

Luke Cage frowned. "Listen, I don't want trouble. I just want to run my bar properly."

"But you live in this city. Once blood slaves become rampant, will there be any place for you in this city? Only we can save this world."

Matt spoke up, and as a lawyer, Matt's eloquence was exceptional; he persuaded Luke Cage in just a few words.

"Okay, you've convinced me. I agree to join you. With that thing, dealing with those blood slaves should be pretty easy, right?" Luke Cage smiled.

"We need more," Matt laughed. "But don't worry, I have connections."

……

"This is our last member. He's somewhat anti-government and acts in extreme ways." Matt stopped in front of an abandoned warehouse.

The area is filled with flashing infrared surveillance cameras.

"Really? How do we get in?" Luke Cage scratched his head.

Jessica Jones clenched her fist and laughed, "Of course, we break down the door and go in..."

"No need to bang on the door..."

A voice that sounded like it was full of stories rang out, and the door immediately emitted a sickeningly loud grinding sound.

The door revealed a dark, gaping interior, like the open mouth of a wild beast.

"There's no danger inside." Matt sensed the danger for a moment, then stepped inside.

Luke Cage quickly followed, asking, "Aren't you blind? How do you see?"

Matt didn't say anything, but just gave Luke Cage the middle finger.

Enter the building.

All I could see was Frank, wearing a hoodie, looking disheveled with a full beard, drinking beer.

Seeing the crowd, Frank smiled and said, "I know you've been looking for me." As he spoke, Frank turned the chair behind him around, revealing a blood slave who was tightly bound and struggling.

"Don't worry, he's safe." Frank finished his beer and neatly placed it on the table.

"I knocked out all his teeth and pulled out all his nails, but the conditions here are not good enough to carry out the next step of the experiment."

"You captured one alive?" Matt exclaimed in astonishment.

"With the help of a friend," Frank smiled.

"Long time no see, Matt." A man in a black trench coat slowly walked out from the darkness.

"Yan Shuangying?!" Matt's face lit up with joy. He hadn't expected to see an old friend in a place like this. "I thought you and Xiao Zizai had already left New York."

Yan Shuangying laughed and said, "After all, I am a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., and it's not easy to do things under their noses."

"So, are these blood slaves also related to the time rift?"

Yan Shuangying shook his head: "I don't know about that. I only helped Frank because I needed him to do something for me."

"Here's the information you requested." Frank handed Yan Shuangying a file folder. "The last one."

"Thank you." Yan Shuangying smiled as he took the documents, but his brows furrowed more and more as he read them.

"What's wrong?" Frank asked.

Yan Shuangying put away the documents: "This confirms my suspicions. Zhao Guizhen really did come to New York. He returned while we were dealing with Ren Woxing with Xiao Zizai."

"Is this the guy you mentioned before, the one who's even more dangerous than Ren Woxing?" Matt asked nervously.

Yan Shuangying shook his head: "To be precise, it's not that he's dangerous, but the other person he's with is more dangerous."

Frank frowned. "How dangerous?"

"She wants to become an immortal! And she's almost there!" Yan Shuangying said solemnly.

……

"Gods? How can a human become a god?" Luke Cage muttered.

Jessica Jones chuckled, "Even among humans, there are different classes; it's just that the stronger humans..."

"Even the lowest-ranking immortal is still an immortal," Yan Shuangying sighed softly. "Things have become a bit troublesome. I don't know how far things have progressed, so I can only contact the authorities back home first. I apologize, I need to leave for a while."

As Yan Shuangying walked away, everyone fell silent.

Matt sighed softly and gave a wry smile: "I thought things would be much easier after we got rid of the vampires who made the blood slaves."

"Who was that guy just now?" Jessica Jones asked. "He looked arrogant."

"He's an agent from the S.H.I.E.L.D. in the East, and he's even stronger than me," Matt said.

Frank agreed, "His marksmanship is no less than mine."

Luke Cage quickly said, "The Sniper Agency will naturally consider the matter of Shealy, so let's think about how to deal with the Blood Slaves."

Matt nodded, returning to the main storyline as Luke Cage continued, "Fortunately, Frank caught one alive. We'll bring him back to S.H.I.E.L.D., and we should be able to get a lot of information from him."

Frank hurriedly loaded the walker into the car and sped off to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Matt had previously contacted Nick Fury and successfully delivered the walkers to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Matt finally "met" Nick Fury for the first time.

"Welcome, everyone. Things have been getting increasingly complicated lately. Thank you all for your help." Nick Fury crossed his arms, adopting the expression of Commander Ikari. "Matt, I've heard you mention that you obtained a tool from Constantine that can be used to deal with the Blood Slaves."

"Not bad." Matt placed the sticky rice on the table.

Nick Fury fell into deep thought. Since the Hell's Kitchen massacre, New York City had changed every single day.

Restless vampires, and occasionally, superpowered individuals originating from the East.

These issues were causing Nick Fury a great deal of trouble, as he was extremely eager to find talented individuals.

"Constantine has value in bringing S.H.I.E.L.D. in," Nick Fury said. "Natasha, go and invite Constantine to join S.H.I.E.L.D., and do everything you can to establish a cooperative relationship with him."

Natasha nodded slightly and sighed.

If Constantine was willing to join S.H.I.E.L.D., why wait until now? He should have joined after resolving Stark's problems.

But Natasha had no choice but to obey her superiors' orders.
