Chapter 42 First Dream Encounter: Gwen Stacy's Shock

The reason for choosing Gwen Stacy is simply because Gwen Stacy has a Spider-Man counterpart in other universes.

Leon wanted to test whether he could influence the universe and create a Gwen version of Spider-Man, even though Peter Parker had already become Spider-Man.

According to the established rules, there is only one spider in each world.

After acquiring Osborn Industries, Li Ang immediately transferred people from Umbrella Corporation to take full control of all of Osborn Industries' assets, including all the mutated spiders.

One of them has been lost, and with Peter Parker's Destiny Points suddenly doubling, Li Ang deduces that Peter Parker has become Spider-Man and is currently having the Shadow Legion monitor him.

Leon stared thoughtfully at the mutated spider in the bottle. His nightmare ability, stemming from Freddy's powers, allowed him to detect that Gwen Stacy was already asleep.

"Now it's my turn."

Li Ang closed his eyes and entered the dream. He didn't directly enter Gwen Stacy's dream, but first turned his own dream into nothingness. Although Gwen Stacy was just a high school student, he still needed to put in a lot of effort to win her over.

Li Ang donned a yellow robe, his figure suddenly growing larger. Beneath his feet lay a smooth, mirror-like surface of water, yet upon closer inspection, countless stars twinkled on the water's surface.

"Alright, now I can invite my guests."

Li Ang, modeled after Hastur, the Yellow King from the Cthulhu Mythos, altered his appearance, raised his hand, and snapped his fingers.

Gwen was suddenly awakened from her sleep. She rubbed her eyes, stood up, and found herself standing on a calm lake surface shimmering with thousands of stars. Her eyes widened instantly.

"What is this?" Gwen asked curiously as she crouched down, scooped up the lake water at her feet, and watched as twinkling stars slipped through her fingers.

She scooped up a handful of lake water with both hands, stared at it closely, and exclaimed in amazement, "It's just like a slideshow of the universe that our teacher showed us in class."

She carefully patted the ground to make sure she wouldn't sink, then breathed a sigh of relief before she had the energy to observe her surroundings.

Looking up, one immediately notices the only anomaly in the area—a tall, yellow-robed figure, about 10 meters high, stands on the flat lake surface.

It looked like a person, yet inspired fear in those who beheld it. The yellow robe moved without wind, yet nothing could be seen hidden beneath it.

It seems that the characters that haven't been unlocked are just a blank space.

Gwen Stacy found the scene somewhat eerie and observed it carefully for a while before daring to approach. However, the next second, the man in the yellow robe spoke in a gentle voice: "Gwen Stacy, what a beautiful name."

Gwen Stacy's eyes widened instantly: "You know me?"

"I don't know you. In fact, this is our first meeting." The man in the yellow robe raised his hand. "Come here."

Gwen Stacy instinctively took two steps back, but in an instant, she was standing right in front of the man in the yellow robe. Gwen Stacy trembled with fear: "What do you want? Who are you?"

"Who am I?" The voice in the yellow robe was tinged with confusion. "I have long forgotten my name. You may call me the Nameless One, the Lord of the Deep Space Star Sea, or the King of the Wilderness."

As the man in yellow robes chanted his name, the lake began to ripple slightly, and cracks appeared in the sky, reflecting nebulae that flowed like mist. It was as if the stars and all things were responding to the man in yellow robes.

The scene that unfolded astonished Gwen Stacy. She suddenly recalled the sight she had seen above the Osborne Tower—a giant eyeball emitting golden light that shattered the clouds.

That's not me.

Gwen Stacy's eyes widened. "You can hear me? Who are you? Why am I here?"

The yellow robes fluttered without wind, and the voice was still as gentle as a spring breeze: "The barrier between the blessed land and the mortal world has been broken, and fate seems unchangeable, but you are my small attempt to change fate."

The King in Yellow extended a pale, slender finger: "Now I present destiny to you. Are you willing to accept it?"

Gwen Stacy looked puzzled: "What destiny?"

"This world is destined for destruction, and all resistance is futile. Perhaps your fate can slightly deflect what is bound to happen." The King in Yellow's hand remained suspended in mid-air.

Recalling what she had seen atop Osborne Tower, Gwen clenched her fists: "So you want to give me the power to fight the guys who escaped from the blessed land?"

Gwen Stacy walked hesitantly to the King in Yellow's palm and slowly raised her hand. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her hand, and Gwen couldn't help but groan in pain. At that moment, everything shattered and disappeared.

The intense feeling of weightlessness woke Gwen from her dream, and she sat up in terror.

"What a strange dream." Gwen raised her hand and rubbed her hair.

"Ouch, that hurts!"

Gwen quickly looked at her palm and saw two small cuts on the web of her hand, like insect bites. Gwen was stunned: "That wasn't a dream, it was real!"

She quickly got up, intending to go to the bathroom, but instinctively kicked a large hole in her cute slippers. Reaching for her phone, the electrical pulse from her fingertips instantly surged into the phone's charging port, and with a loud bang, sparks and smoke erupted from the battery on the back of the phone.

"Fuck!" Gwen couldn't help but curse, stumbling as she ran to the bathroom.

Everything around her seemed to be magnified; she could hear her own heartbeat and feel the traces of mosquitoes flying.

"What did he give me?" Gwen Stacy reached out and turned on the faucet, but with so much force that she ripped the faucet off completely.

Gwen Stacy was momentarily at a loss as she watched the gushing tap water, completely unaware that a small black blob had silently disappeared in the shadows.

Li Ang opened his eyes and thought to himself: It seems my acting skills are pretty good.

He stretched out his hand, and in his palm lay a dying spider—the very same one that had bitten Gwen.

In the dream, Leon used Freddy's abilities to hide the spider.

As the Shadow Eaters relayed the information to Li Ang, Li Ang thought to himself: It seems they succeeded. Judging from Gwen's abilities, it appears to be the spider that bit Miles.

"Very good," Li Ang nodded in satisfaction, but it wasn't enough. Currently, only Gwen had been invited into the dream world. As Li Ang's name became more widely known, he could invite even more people into the dream world.

Li Ang looked at the names of the various organizations and pointed to Wolverine's name: "Looks like I need to speed up the expansion of Li Ang Restaurant."
