Dragon Raja: Oh no! Lu Mingfei has been diagnosed with depression!
Chapter 2 I'm not sick, I just suddenly have a clear understanding
"Two patients suffered moderate concussions, one was lucky and only had a mild one... As for the most serious one, he suffered a skull fracture and subarachnoid hemorrhage, and is currently in the ICU. We cannot rule out the possibility of other problems."
The young police officers in charge of investigating the situation became increasingly alarmed as they listened. When they arrived, they only saw a group of thugs lying in blood on the ground, which startled them. They thought that someone had actually died in their jurisdiction.
Even though no one died, things weren't much better. He couldn't help but think of the thin boy lying in the hospital bed. This guy probably didn't even know what he had done. It was hard to imagine that a lion lived in that frail body.
"These guys are pretty lucky."
The doctor had no sympathy for the thugs who robbed students on the street, and he casually put the medical records on the table with a sigh.
"Doctor, please watch your words!"
The young policeman reminded them with a dark expression. He also felt that those thugs were not good people, but one of them was a policeman and the other was a doctor, so they could only keep these thoughts to themselves.
"No, they were really lucky. You're not a doctor, so you don't know what the situation is like."
The doctor turned to look at him. "That kid probably hasn't trained much, so even though he put all his strength into it, he didn't have much power... I've examined the thugs' injuries; they were all caused by blunt force trauma to the skull, right here..."
The doctor patted the back of his head and continued:
"Actually, our brains are very fragile. If it had been another student who had been trained, and the weapon and the location of the attack had remained the same, there would be more than just one person in the ICU... So they were really lucky. They only angered a child who didn't have much strength. What can a child do to retaliate, no matter how angry he is? He can only jump up and hit someone's knee."
The doctor told a nonsensical, lame joke, but the young policeman didn't find it funny at all; his mind was in turmoil.
"The surveillance footage has been retrieved. Those guys were robbing people with weapons. The kid was at most guilty of excessive self-defense."
A colleague poked his head out from the doorway and said, "Both guardians have arrived. The boss wants us to go over and explain the situation to them."
"Okay, I'm coming now."
The young policeman nodded, looked at the doctor, and hesitated before speaking.
"Go ahead, go ahead. I've already called my colleagues from the psychology department to conduct a psychiatric evaluation on that child. According to his female classmate, he's always been quite well-behaved at school, usually very timid and submissive. Logically speaking, he wouldn't do something like this."
The doctor immediately understood.
The young policeman breathed a sigh of relief, nodded his thanks to the doctor, and then left the office with his colleague.
"They're all a group of young people with a strong sense of justice."
The doctor watched the young policeman's departing figure, picked up his thermos, took a sip of hot tea, and sighed with emotion.
All irrelevant people in the ward were asked to leave, including the little fairy.
Su Xiaoqiang was furious when she was asked to leave the ward. She shouted, "I am that guy's classmate. He is the victim. Why are you interrogating my classmate instead of going after those bastards? Just how much power do those bastards have that allows you to violate your professional ethics?"
I don't care who's behind those bastards. My name is Su Xiaoqiang. Let them come and cause me trouble if they dare. What's the point of bullying an ordinary person?
When the little fairy spoke these words, she was as domineering as an empress, exuding a tremendous aura, but when she stood in front of Lu Mingfei, she was like a mother hen protecting her chicks.
Even at this moment, she didn't forget to turn around and comfort Lu Mingfei, saying, "Don't worry, you know my dad owns many mines, right? Many of his businesses are in cooperation with the government. As long as I'm here, they can't touch you."
When it comes to who has the best father, I've never lost!
The police and doctors who entered were stunned by the scene and it took them a while to react.
The police officer thought to himself, "Young man, do you know that those bastards you're talking about are still lying in bed unable to get up? The culprit is that kid behind you. We're not here to cause him any trouble. We also don't like those bastards; we're in the same boat. But we're police officers, so we can't openly show favoritism to anyone. That's why we brought a psychiatrist here to give him a mental evaluation."
"I'm fine."
Lu Mingfei, lying on the hospital bed, grasped Xiaotiannv's wrist and shook his head at her. He knew Su Xiaoqiang was worried about him facing these guys alone, afraid that he might say something wrong if he wasn't careful.
But this was his business. Su Xiaoqiang had already done everything she could to help him. She called an ambulance for him, accompanied him all the way to the hospital, and even paid his hospital deposit.
Their relationship in class wasn't actually that good; they were more like enemies. Enemies are supposed to kick each other when they're down and rub salt into each other's wounds.
If the little fairy were willing to step forward, he would have been extremely grateful and would have wanted to immediately acknowledge her as his godfather... no, I mean godmother.
But he has come to terms with it. This is his own business, so he has to face it alone. There are some things that won't always have someone stepping forward to help.
Lu Mingfei had already seen Xiaotiannv's driver standing at the door for a long time, trying to come in several times but being glared back by Xiaotiannv. In fact, she should have been home long ago by now.
Her wrist was grabbed, and Xiaotiannu stiffened, but she was quickly angered by Lu Mingfei's words.
She's a proud person, and she was talking until her throat was dry, but her teammates simply raised their hands and surrendered, which made her feel a little disappointed.
"Whatever! I don't care anymore!"
The little fairy glared at Lu Mingfei, pulled her hand away, grabbed her bag, and walked out.
But her ruthlessness couldn't last more than a few minutes. She regretted it as soon as she stepped out of the ward. Turning her head to look at Lu Mingfei lying expressionlessly on the hospital bed, a huge wave of sadness and loneliness, like the sea, suddenly welled up in her heart.
"Uncle Ma, can you help me find a lawyer?"
Su Xiaoqiang thought for a moment, then added, "The best kind."
"Okay, I'll contact the company's legal team later... The mine isn't exactly peaceful; fights and robberies happen frequently. They'll be very adept at handling these kinds of cases."
The driver took the bag from Su Xiaoqiang's hand without asking why she would go to such lengths for a classmate with whom she wasn't actually that close; he simply nodded in agreement.
He watched Su Xiaoqiang grow up, and he knew better than anyone what kind of stubbornness was hidden beneath this girl's beautiful appearance.
The driver turned around, wanting to take one last look at just how special this boy was that the young lady cared so much about, but he just happened to meet Lu Mingfei's gaze.
He suddenly felt a chill; those eyes were as still as a stagnant pool, yet beneath the calm surface lay deadly undercurrents.
Countless pale hands reached out from beneath the water, trying to drag his soul to the bottom. He suddenly couldn't breathe and tried to call for help, but it was as if dozens of liters of ice water had been poured into his throat, and he couldn't make a sound. He could only watch helplessly as he got closer and closer to the surface.
"Uncle Ma?"
Su Xiaoqiang's voice startled him awake. He quickly looked away, not daring to meet the boy's gaze again.
"Let's go. The boss has called me several times already, asking why we haven't gone back yet."
"Oh, I'll explain it to him."
Su Xiaoqiang said indifferently.
Lu Mingfei looked away. The doctor in the white coat pulled up a chair and sat down in front of him with a warm smile on his face. The police officers left the room on their own.
"Hello, Lu Mingfei, there are only the two of us in this ward right now."
The doctor placed the notebook he was holding on the bed and showed Lu Mingfei his empty hands:
"Don't be so nervous. Actually, I'm still a little shy. You've been staring at me like that, which makes me a little embarrassed... I just wanted to come over and chat with you. No one else will know what we talk about."
"What would you like to talk about?"
"We can talk about many things, such as hobbies and interests, or your dreams..."
The doctor smiled mysteriously. "But those cliché topics are too outdated. Let's talk about something different today. Was that young girl your classmate?"
Lu Mingfei nodded.
"It must be a wonderful thing to have such a beautiful girl as your classmate, right? Because only at this age will they show you their truest side, and you will see her most youthful and beautiful appearance earlier than others... In a few years, you will never meet a girl like this again."
The doctor remarked, pulling a small box of chewing gum from his pocket. "Want some?"
Lu Mingfei took the chewing gum the doctor offered him, but didn't eat it; he just held it in his hand.
The doctor raised an eyebrow; the situation was worse than he had imagined. On the surface, Lu Mingfei seemed to accept his words without any resistance and even nodded in agreement, but deep down, he revealed a distance between them.
In this situation, a normal person would either say no directly or accept it out of politeness, even if they don't want to eat it, they would still put it in their mouth and chew it a couple of times.
But what about someone like Lu Mingfei? He won't choose to accept or refuse. If you hand it to him, he'll take it. If you don't share with him, he won't object. He'll just stare at you, making you feel uneasy.
The doctor was having a headache, unsure of how to break down Lu Mingfei's psychological defenses.
"Actually, you can just ask whatever you want to ask. You don't have to go through such a big detour. I know better than anyone what I've done."
Lu Mingfei suddenly said, throwing the chewing gum in his hand into the water glass on the bedside table, watching the round candy bubbles sink to the bottom of the water.
The doctor was taken aback and wanted to explain, but when he looked up, he saw Lu Mingfei's eyes.
In fact, Lu Mingfei had been looking at the water glass the whole time and hadn't looked at him at all, but the doctor always felt that those eyes were looking at him, as if they were looking directly into his soul through his flesh and blood.
He was silent for a few seconds, sighed, and picked up the notebook from the bed.
"The situation with those thugs is complicated. The police have reviewed the surveillance footage and can determine that you acted in self-defense. However, one of them is currently in the ICU and his guardian is causing a scene in the conference room, saying that you should be convicted of intentional homicide."
The doctor said softly, "Of course, they can't just decide this kind of thing as they please, but if they insist, you'll most likely be considered to have acted in excessive self-defense."
"so what?"
Lu Mingfei's reaction was much calmer than the doctor had expected. He kept staring at the water glass while speaking, as if someone were asking him what he wanted to eat for dinner.
"You're a smart person; you should know what I mean."
The doctor said, "Many people want to save you... including me. Someone suggested that we do a mental evaluation for you. If we can prove that you were not in a clear mental state at the time, we will have enough grounds to shut up what others have to say... Although this may cause you a little trouble in your future life, it is better than having a criminal record."
"Do you think this is fair to me?"
Lu Mingfei turned his head and stared at him.
The doctor was silent for a few seconds, then shook his head:
"That's unfair."
It's really unfair. Lu Mingfei is the real victim. Those thugs threatened him with knives first, and he was just forced to fight back.
The doctor had seen Lu Mingfei's file from the police. The file said that his parents were working in archaeology abroad and had not returned to China for many years.
Lu Mingfei was raised by his uncle and aunt from a young age. Life as a dependent was already difficult, not to mention that he also had a cousin in the family.
In this family, Lu Mingfei is the only outsider. Everyone revolves around his cousin, so he can only attract attention by doing silly things.
Isn't this just a child who lacks love? He has tried his best to make himself more harmless. The world is so big, but the space left for him is so small, so he can only find a place to stay by tucking his hands and feet in.
Everyone knows it's unfair, which is why they try every means to save this child.
But just when everyone thought they were being incredibly righteous and came up with the idea of labeling an innocent child as "mentally ill" to save him, they didn't even consider whether this was the kind of justice the child really needed.
A heavy sigh echoed in the ward. The doctor was suddenly awakened. He looked up and around, but did not find a third person in the ward. The sigh was like an echo in an empty valley, fleeting and gone in an instant.
"I will issue you a certificate proving that you did not have a clear understanding of your actions at the time, which is why you did that."
The doctor stood up; he no longer wanted to stay in the ward, for the longer he stayed, the more grief and anger he would feel.
In fact, they didn't need to be presumptuous. After their conversation and observation, he was certain that Lu Mingfei did have mental or psychological problems. More professional evaluation would be needed to determine the specifics, but he didn't want to continue.
Don't overthink it, you're just sick.
The doctor offered Lu Mingfei a final word of comfort and was about to leave the ward when Lu Mingfei suddenly called out to him.
"I'm not sick, I just suddenly understand."
Lu Mingfei and the doctor made eye contact.
