Wizard: I Have a Nightmare World
Chapter 9 The Deal, Harvey's Investment
On the second floor of the pharmacy, in an elegantly decorated reception room.
A full-length carpet with intricate patterns was laid on the dark red wooden floor.
On the wall hung several unidentified oil paintings, all of which were still life sketches of various herbs and medicine bottles.
Below the oil painting, there was a shelf against the wall, filled with various medicine bottles, the liquid inside shimmering with iridescent colors in the light from the window.
Lynn sat on a soft leather sofa, holding a steaming cup of black tea.
Harvey sat opposite him, his obese body almost filling the entire armchair, but his posture was quite elegant, even the fingers holding the teacup were curled into a delicate, orchid-like gesture.
"Lynn, have a taste of this tea."
"These are tender buds picked from the Blood-Veined Tea Tree deep in the northern mountains. They are made through three rounds of roasting and four rounds of fermentation. Even a small handful costs five gold coins."
"It has a good effect on restoring mental strength."
Harvey smiled and pushed a cup of black tea toward Lynn.
Lynn picked up her teacup and took a sip.
The tea was slightly bitter at first sip, but it quickly spread across the tongue, and a warm sensation slid down the throat into the abdomen.
Immediately afterwards, a cool sensation rushed to the top of my head, and I felt refreshed.
It's really a good product!
"Excellent tea!"
After taking another small sip, Lynn placed the teacup on the table and looked at Harvey.
"Manager Harvey specifically invited me up here; it couldn't have been just for tea, could it?"
Harvey laughed heartily, downed the tea in his cup in one gulp, and patted his round belly with his fat hand.
"Lynn is indeed a straightforward guy!"
"Then I won't beat around the bush."
Harvey's smile faded, and his chubby face became serious and earnest.
"Mr. Lynn, I, Harvey, as the manager of the apothecary and the vice president of the herbalist association, would like to discuss a deal with you."
Lynn narrowed his eyes, sat up straight on the sofa, and stared at Harvey, waiting for his next words.
"As someone capable of concocting perfect potions, your skill in this area is beyond question."
"Therefore, I want to establish a long-term partnership by sponsoring you."
As Harvey spoke, his gaze fell on the brand-new herbalist badge on Lynn's chest, a glint of light flashing in his eyes.
Lynn didn't respond, but simply picked up her teacup and took another sip, signaling Harvey to continue.
Harvey didn't beat around the bush and went straight to the point:
"I would like to give you the ownership of the Thirteenth Incubation Room, where you are located, and the apothecary will fund its expansion to add an independent personal studio, equipped with a full set of high-quality pharmaceutical equipment."
"At the same time, Mr. Lynn, all the potions you concoct in the future will be sold through my personal channels, Harvey."
"You take 60%, I take 30%, and the remaining 10% is used to cultivate relationships with other departments."
"This support will continue until you become a full-fledged wizard."
Upon hearing Harvey's description, Lynn's face showed surprise.
This offer is far too generous.
Although the Thirteenth Breeding Room wasn't large, once it came into Lynn's personal possession, it meant he would have a base that was entirely his own.
With independent work and high-quality equipment, he can focus on researching advanced drug formulas without having to piece everything together like when preparing hemostatic drugs.
In addition, Harvey was in charge of the sales channels, while he focused on preparing the medicine and took 60% of the profits, which was practically giving him free money.
However, the more favorable the conditions, the greater the underlying demands.
"Manager Harvey offered such terms, surely it wasn't just because he values my talent?"
Upon hearing Lynn's words, Harvey's serious expression softened, and a smile returned to his face, a hint of appreciation flashing in his small eyes.
"Talking to smart people is the easiest thing to do."
He suppressed his smile and lowered his voice slightly.
"I do have something I need Mr. Lynn's help with."
"I need you to prepare a potion for me at some point in the future."
"And it must achieve perfect quality."
Lynn frowned slightly upon hearing this request, while Harvey's curiosity was piqued.
"Excuse me, could you tell me what kind of potion this is?"
Harvey smiled and waved his hand in refusal.
"I can't say yet. The ingredients for that potion are extremely precious. I've only collected less than 30% of them so far."
"I will inform Mr. Lynn once all the materials are collected."
"But I can assure you that this medicine will absolutely not cause you any harm, much less endanger your life."
Lynn fell into deep thought.
This request was incredibly simple for him.
After all, it's just about creating a perfect potion, which is a very easy thing for someone like me who has the Nightmare World to practice creating endlessly.
Moreover, exchanging a perfect-quality potion for funding to become a full-fledged wizard is a profitable deal no matter how you look at it.
But the offer was too tempting, forcing him to be wary of the unknown potion.
Furthermore, on second thought, what he lacks most right now is resources and time. If he can gain autonomy, he will have enough confidence to take the potion apprentice exam in half a month and then strive to become the successor of that formal wizard.
As for the unknown potion, he will naturally have the confidence to deal with it once he has truly grown up.
Five minutes later, Lynn raised his head and spoke under Harvey's tense gaze.
"Sure, but I have one condition."
Harvey relaxed when he saw Lynn agree to the deal, and his tone became more amiable.
"you say."
Lynn stated his request: "I want to know the details of the Potions Apprentice Examination, as well as information about the official wizard who is looking for a successor."
Upon hearing this, Harvey's gaze became meaningful.
He was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed, a laugh filled with understanding and emotion.
"I knew it. People with your abilities, how could a mere herbalist's status possibly satisfy you?"
"It seems that your initial target was that person."
Lynn did not deny it, but simply looked at Harvey quietly.
After a moment of reflection, Harvey regained his composure and picked up the teapot on the table to refill Lynn's teacup.
"That sir is known as Bloodvine. He is one of the official wizards of the White Raven Tower's potion department, specializing in advanced potion concoction and medicinal extraction."
"However, three months ago, Lord Bloodvine was attacked during an outing and was severely injured, with his life essence seriously damaged."
"According to the Wizarding Council's diagnosis, he has at most six months to live."
"Therefore, Lord Bloodvine will select a successor during the potion apprentice assessment to pass on his life's knowledge."
Harvey paused here, pondered for a moment, and then with a wave of his left hand, a piece of parchment appeared out of thin air on the table.
"If this is your goal, I suggest you learn how to prepare this special medicine before the assessment."
Harvey pointed to the parchment on the table, the meaning of which was self-evident.
With the other party's tacit approval, Lynn picked up the parchment on the table and slowly unfolded it.
This parchment contains a description of a potion called the "Boiling Blood Potion".
According to the above records, this is a potion that can stimulate human potential in a short period of time, and it is an extremely rare life-saving item for wizard apprentices.
Meanwhile, Bloodvine Wizard's most famous and iconic creation is the advanced version of the Boiling Blood Potion—the Berserk Potion.
If the Boiling Blood Potion is a life-saving potion for wizard apprentices, then the Berserk Blood Potion is a life-saving potion for professional wizards.
Harvey handed him the parchment containing the information about the "Boiling Blood Potion," the meaning of which was self-evident.
"As long as you can concoct the [Boiling Blood Potion] during the assessment and achieve a quality of excellent or above, your chances of being selected will be much higher than others."
Harvey said with a smile, showing no concern whatsoever about whether Lynn could concoct the [Boiling Blood Potion].
If someone capable of concocting a perfect quality potion can't even do this, then it's worth considering whether that perfect quality potion was actually made by them.
"Thank you, Manager Harvey."
Lynn accepted the parchment, stood up, and bowed to Harvey.
Harvey also stood up, a bright smile on his fat face. He waved his hand, then took out a key and handed it to Lynn.
"Now that we've finished discussing business, let's continue using the same way we always address each other; there's no need to use any titles."
"This is the permanent ownership key to the thirteenth incubation cell. From today onwards, that room is yours."
"I will arrange the expansion and equipment within three days."
Lynn took the keys, nodded to Harvey, and then prepared to leave.
At that moment, Harvey called out to him.
"Lynn, wait a moment."
He turned his head in confusion, then heard the sound of something cutting through the air, followed by a box of iron pipes slowly falling into his hand.
"This tea is a good thing. You spend the most time and energy making potions, and this is the most useful thing for you."
"It would be a waste to keep it here."
Lynn looked at the iron pipe in his hand and accepted it with a smile.
"Thank you, then I won't be polite, Harvey."
With a wave of his hand, Lynn left the meeting room.
As Harvey watched Lynn's figure disappear through the doorway, the smile on his face gradually faded, replaced by a thoughtful expression.
He sat back down on the sofa, picked up his teacup, but didn't drink it, his gaze fixed on the view outside the window.
"A young man who can concoct a perfect hemostatic agent using ordinary materials... perhaps, the hope for that agent truly rests on his shoulders."
