Sherlock Holmes is not a warp god.
Chapter 13 The Vanishing Miss Holmes
In just one minute, after scanning all the text, Fren easily digested all the content.
Not only is it a benevolent father, but this bookshelf also contains a lot of knowledge about evil gods.
After reading all of these contents one by one, more than an hour had passed.
Sitting in a chair in the basement, Furen tapped the table with his knuckles. "I see."
He finally understood why Mycroft and Weyman Wilke had suggested that he "eat" Stanislavsky.
This is a test.
A test based on instinct.
If one becomes addicted to powerful blessings, it is easy to be influenced in one's mind, and even gradually lose oneself, becoming a beast with only instincts.
However, when Fren thought about how he faced that scorpion, he didn't feel the slightest bit of impulse.
The so-called blessing from the benevolent father only brought Fren the potential for [flesh and blood manipulation], leaving no trace on his soul.
This contradicts what is said in the book.
[Leakage Complete]
Furen thought of the characteristic displayed on his panel, which was described as, "All defilements are forever extinguished, the light of wisdom shines brightly, and all dharmas cannot invade."
That sounds really awesome.
The phrase "wisdom shines through" explains the ability to remember everything at a glance, as well as the seemingly limitless storage space and computing power of the brain. "Immunity to all laws" likely refers to ensuring that one is not influenced by any external factors.
The amplification of instinct by the benevolent father's blessing is clearly an external influence that has been blocked by the "leaking away" principle.
"As expected of me."
Fren remained calm; no matter how amazing his innate talent was, it was perfectly normal.
That concludes today's reading time. After turning off the lights, Fren left the basement.
On his way back to his room, Fren passed by many rooms.
Thirteen years ago, when I was first adopted, the place at the end of the corridor was where the Holmes couple lived.
The first room next to his parents' room was Mycroft Holmes' room, and the second room was Sherlock Holmes' room.
Fren lived in the fourth room.
One of the rooms in the middle is empty.
The room wasn't locked. Fren went inside and saw that it was simply furnished, but some details suggested that the room's owner was a woman or a girl.
Young Francessoko asked his family about this woman.
The Holmes couple looked saddened, Mycroft remained silent, and Sherlock seemed to be lost in thought.
Although Francessoko appeared somewhat slow in his early years due to the mystery surrounding his birth, he still possessed the ability to read people's expressions. Sensing the sudden change in the atmosphere at the dinner table, Francessoko, who had grown up in the orphanage until the age of four, remained silent and never asked about it again in the days that followed.
Fren was adopted when he was four years old and spent less than a year there. The Holmes then bought another house in the city, presumably to avoid being hurt by the sight of his belongings.
The new residence was a small house, but it was cozy. Fren, Sherlock, and Mycroft each had their own rooms. Fren grew up here until he was six years old and began his school life at Eden Academy.
Unless absolutely necessary, the Holmes couple rarely returned, while Floren himself came back frequently. The manor offered Floren, who suffered from social anxiety, a greater sense of peace compared to the hustle and bustle of the city.
At the time, Fren's only thought was that he had to inherit the manor no matter what, and live there until he died.
...
The door was just a stone's throw away, but Fren didn't stop. He walked across his own room and opened the door to the room next door.
Although no one lives here, they never forget to clean this place whenever someone comes to clean it.
The simple and tidy bed sheets, as well as the desk with children's books, all indicate that the owner of this place is not very old.
The only toy was a teddy bear placed next to the pillow.
It's quite large, about a meter tall, which gives children a great sense of security. It was a best-selling model more than a decade ago.
The teddy bear given to her by her beloved second brother was a treasure she would cherish, no matter how clever she was, and she would often hold it in her arms.
The identification terms hadn't changed much, but when Furen saw the word "frequently" on them, he suddenly became interested.
Having lived to be 32 in his previous life and now possessing 18 years of memories in this one, Fren, like a perverted old man, picked up the teddy bear on his bed and sniffed it.
It has no taste.
There is no smell of perfume, shampoo, or even sweat.
This room has been cleaned for over a decade, and the teddy bear has been washed and sun-dried several times, so naturally it couldn't possibly have any smell.
After rubbing the teddy bear's face, Furen put it back in its place.
But both the teddy bear's changed posture and the wrinkles on the sheets prove that someone has been in the room.
"An east wind is about to blow."
Furen hummed a little tune, closed the door to the room, and returned to his own room, ready to get a good night's sleep.
The city hall's working hours are Monday to Friday, with weekends off, and salaries are paid on Fridays.
Fren had just received his 100 ducats today, and he was about to have a two-day vacation. Fren planned to sleep it off and then decide how to spend it.
If all else fails, staying home for a couple of days is a comfortable option for Floren. The weather will be nice tomorrow, and taking a bath at noon would be very relaxing.
It was springtime, and the nights were slightly cool.
But Floren didn't close the window; he listened to the wind outside and quietly fell asleep.
There's no internet in this world yet, so even if Furen wanted to stay up all night, he had no reason to, so it's better to go to sleep early.
-
The next day.
Fren woke up very early, before the moon was even hanging in the treetops.
Sitting up in bed at three in the morning, Furen pondered for a moment and felt that it was very abnormal for him to be so awake after only four hours of sleep.
After much thought, I realized that it must be due to the manipulation of my flesh and blood that my sleep quality has improved so much.
A perfectly reasonable reason.
Standing by the window, Furen looked at the night sky and sighed softly. It seemed unlikely that he would ever be able to sleep through the night again.
Floren went naked into his bathroom and took a hot shower, then threw his pajamas into the laundry basket.
Holmes Manor is cleaned, scrubbed, and routinely repaired every week.
Once Fren has collected a week's worth of clothes, he refreshes them every Monday afternoon after returning to the manor, hanging them neatly and cleanly in his wardrobe.
I have plenty of clothes anyway, so I won't be short of clothes to wear even if I save them up for two weeks.
However, Floren is still a size larger than usual. Until he burns off this fat, his old clothes no longer fit him well. Floren can only wear the suit he bought yesterday to go out, which does lighten the workload for the staff the day after tomorrow.
