Sherlock Holmes is not a warp god.

Chapter 14 Difficult younger siblings, older brother with a receding hairline

3:30 a.m.

Just as Fren was humming a little tune, preparing to start a wonderful day, in another brightly lit building in the city, another Sherlock Holmes finally finished his day's work.

This is a small office with a dark color scheme, and mostly filled with documents.

Mycroft dictated the conversation while his female secretary typed on the keyboard.

"In conclusion, execution is permitted."

After finishing speaking, Mycroft licked his dry lips, got up and stretched his slightly stiff limbs, making a creaking sound, before heading to a corner to prepare to make a cup of hand-drip coffee himself. This was one of the few pleasures Mycroft enjoyed outside of work.

Today, using his younger brother as bait, he caught a few insignificant Father Blessers. If it weren't for Francessoko's involvement, Mycroft would have simply passed this information to the National Security Agency; he wouldn't have gone to the scene himself. Given his position, he had much more important work to do.

If these tasks were spread over the next three or four days, Mycroft wouldn't have to work until 3 a.m.

But Francessoko awakened new abilities yesterday thanks to the blessing of his loving father, and Mycroft is partly to blame; he will help Francessoko prepare some gifts today.

Tomorrow, Charlotte will fly to the border city of Slen, where she will use her ID to enter a military base, steal military secrets, and indirectly destroy a biological laboratory. Although this exposes a superpower experiment involving children, the consequences are serious, even affecting diplomatic relations between the East and West.

After handling Charlotte's funeral arrangements, Mycroft flew that very night to a secluded island some distance from the coastline to the east, where there was a man even more troublesome than Charlotte, and he had to check on that man's condition frequently.

Coincidentally, the three culprits who kept Mycroft extremely busy for the next three days all had the surname "holmes".

"God of Light above, if I am guilty, please let me die in the sun, instead of being tortured like this..." Mycroft sipped his coffee and sighed softly.

For every 0.1mm his hairline recedes, none of these three people are innocent.

"Let's go get breakfast. The cafeteria on the sixth floor is probably closed, let's eat out, I'll use yesterday's salary." Mycroft stayed up all night, so his secretary naturally had to stay up too. Mycroft felt a little guilty about this and decided to treat his secretary to something nice.

The secretary then compiled the documents and Mycroft's dictation into a written record and transmitted it to the relevant department via the internal network.

Currently, the internet is only widely used by the military and government, and not extensively by the general public. Furthermore, given that this is a specially encrypted network, its security is currently relatively guaranteed.

Upon hearing Mycroft's words, the beautiful secretary smiled and asked, "Sir, do you have any cash with you?"

Mycroft was taken aback. "Wasn't this yesterday's paycheck? You've always been the one collecting it for me."

He remembered that his secretary hadn't given him his salary yesterday; the envelope containing the substantial amount should still be with the secretary.

"Your salary is linked to your credit card. Credit card payments will be made first, and then any remaining balance will be used to pay your salary." The secretary didn't elaborate further, assuming Mycroft should understand her meaning.

Sir, your entire salary has been deposited into your credit card!

And they might not even be able to pay it all off.

Thinking of this, a teasing smile appeared on the secretary's pretty face. "Sir, considering your special circumstances, in order to ensure the normal use of your credit card, the accounting department has already paid off all of it for you."

You now owe the central government 281 dakt 18 pont.

This younger brother can eat like a pig...

Mycroft knew his brother too well, and he had no doubt that Fren frequented prostitutes, did drugs, committed murder, and arson, and that most of his credit card spending was probably on food, drinks, and entertainment.

Mycroft felt a slight pang of angina; his weekly wage fluctuated around 2000 ducats, which wasn't even enough to cover Francessoko's weekly expenses.

Mycroft's food, clothing, housing, transportation, and medical care were half reimbursed by the central government and the other half by the royal family. Now he wondered if Floren had kept the receipts; since it was his credit card, maybe he could get reimbursed...

"Help me report my credit card and ID lost together, and then get replacements." Mycroft finished his coffee, his voice weak.

"Okay." The secretary covered her mouth and chuckled.

This wasn't the first time she'd done this; it's just that in the past she'd only replaced ID documents, but this time she had to replace a credit card as well.

The officer appeared extremely reluctant, but in reality, his new ID was "stolen" every time he returned home.

After the secretary made a phone call to report the loss of two cards registered in Mycroft's name, she came to Mycroft's side and skillfully opened the drawer under the desk, where Mycroft's salary was kept.

She pulled out two hundred-yuan bills from the treasury and then began to think excitedly about what to eat later. There were quite a few upscale restaurants open in the city center in the early hours of the morning, so she naturally wanted to think it over carefully.

Mycroft sighed and turned off the lights before following his secretary.

In a world where politics, power, and money are intertwined, you don't even need to drive. Just two streets away from the central government building lies a luxurious commercial street.

Mycroft was indifferent. After following his secretary into a restaurant, he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

"Check out."

Mycroft looked over and saw a figure gracefully place a card between two fingers and hand it to the waiter.

Mycroft had been to this restaurant before, and although he had only glanced at it once, he hadn't forgotten the prices listed on the menu.

Looking at the leftovers on the table, I knew it would definitely cost no less than 50 ducats.

Due to limited internet penetration, some merchants do not fully trust the internet. Currently, credit card usage is confirmed by calling the bank.

Mycroft reported his credit card lost within the central government. While ID documents can be deactivated through the internal network, credit cards, especially in the middle of the night, don't have time to synchronize with the bank.

So Mycroft could only watch helplessly as the man signed his name perfectly on the bill after the restaurant staff checked with the bank.

Mycroft was certain that Fren had seen him, yet Fren's movements remained as practiced and composed as ever.

"Don't be so stingy, you have more money than you can spend."

Fren smiled slightly and told his elder brother's secretary to put away the cash, saying that he could just count it casually.

Looking at the two brothers in front of him, the secretary seemed oblivious to his superior's helpless expression and picked up the menu directly.

Mycroft wanted to condemn Fren's behavior, but since things had come to this, he decided to eat first.
