Chapter 38. Wolf Attack

Lynn looked in the direction Cedric was pointing.

The Fiery Willow, which usually appears extremely agitated and constantly waving its branches, was unusually calm tonight, as if it were dead.

Under the willow tree, there was a figure lying on the ground, struggling.

Cedric ran over without saying a word. Lynn tried to stop him but couldn't, and could only helplessly follow behind him.

He suddenly grabbed Cedric's arm and shouted anxiously, "Go! We have to get away from him now! Back to the castle!"

However, it was already too late!

Ian underwent an astonishing transformation before their very eyes!

A terrifying roar erupted, and his head began to elongate, his body growing longer as well. His shoulders arched, hair sprouted from his face and hands, and his fingers curled into sharp claws!

A complete werewolf transformation took place right before Lynn and his friends' eyes!

Cedric seemed stunned, and unconsciously he was dragged by Lynn towards Hogwarts Castle.

But as they passed the willow tree that beats people, Lynn and Cedric suddenly lost their footing and fell to the ground.

Lynn felt incredibly unlucky.

He only now remembered that the original book mentioned a secret passage leading to Hogsmeade located below the Willow of the Black Lake.

The secret passage was originally built for the werewolf wizard Remus Lupin, so that he could travel to the Shrieking Shack in Hogsmeade during each full moon to transform and avoid harming others.

Now that a werewolf wizard has arrived at Hogwarts, it's only natural that the professors have decided to reopen this secret passage.

The two of them ran wildly along the secret passage, but when they were almost in the middle of the passage, Lynn suddenly stopped Cedric.

"What's wrong?" Cedric asked, panting.

Lynn didn't speak, but listened attentively for a while.

"He didn't catch up."

"Yeah, why didn't he chase after us?" Cedric also noticed something was wrong.

"How much do you know about werewolves?" Lynn asked.

Cedric was a pure-blooded wizard, and he had read far more educational books about the wizarding world since childhood than Lynn, a wizard who came to the profession later in life.

"Their transformation is beyond their control. They will definitely transform during every full moon. After transforming, they usually lose their rationality and are left only with the instinct to attack other humans. If there is no one else around, they will harm themselves until the full moon ends."

"So, we must be the only two people around him, right? Why didn't he come after us?" Lynn became more and more puzzled as she thought about it.

Cedric was still young and at a loss for what to do at this point.

"So what do we do now? Should we go back and check?"

"No!"

Lynn immediately rejected Cedric's suggestion; going back now would be too risky.

"We'll wait here for half an hour. If we hear any noise, we'll keep running. If there's no noise, we'll go back and check."

The exit was right above them, but there was no sound from outside.

Lynn suddenly pressed Cedric's head down and whispered, "Don't move yet, let me see if he's outside."

Cedric glared at him from below, but knew it wasn't the time to speak, so he didn't resist.

Lynn poked his head out from the entrance of the secret passage and quickly glanced around.

The next moment, he met a pair of emerald green eyes.

Lynn was startled at first, but quickly relaxed.

Because those eyes held no chaos or violence, only a cold, stagnant calm.

Under the soft moonlight, a young werewolf with pure white fur sat quietly next to the Whomping Willow.

He seemed to blend into the surrounding night, so natural, unique, peaceful, and—solitary!
