Chapter 16 Fabricating News

Chapter 16 Fabricating News (Please continue reading)

What happens when a bartender temporarily takes on the job of a club manager?

Martin would tell the person asking the question, "If you don't go crazy now, you'll be too old!"

In the club's staff lounge, Martin received a text message from Elena and pushed open the locker room door to go inside.

The stylish men, led by Hart, are preparing for their performance that evening.

Martin pounded on the door and shouted, "Big stars, are you ready? I have great news for you! Tonight, a huge number of customers will be coming. If you perform well, the club's business will be booming, and you'll be raking in tips!"

Hart asked, "Is it really as you say?"

Martin confidently declared, "Our customer base will at least double, and your revenue will double!"

Another handsome guy, Carrington, blew his scoundrel whistle and said, "Buddy, you better keep your word, or we'll drag you onto the stage to perform."

Martin said seriously, "You can doubt my character, but you shouldn't doubt my credibility! Carrington, you're finished. I swear, you'll be thrown into the Atlantic Ocean by Old Brooks."

The others burst into laughter.

Martin raised his voice again: "Guys, you've practiced dancing for so long, give it your all tonight and show everyone what Popeye is all about! If you can't do it, I'll have Bruce tell everyone on Saijo Street that the Beast House's hunks are a bunch of cowards."

Hart laughed and said, "Don't worry, we won't give you the chance."

Martin flicked the middle finger behind his head, strode out, circled around the backstage area, entered the lobby, and found Monica by the bar.

She was Elena's friend, a voluptuous Latina girl.

Martin asked, "How is it?"

Monica quickly said, "Such a great free opportunity, my people won't let it slip by. It's free!"

Martin glanced at the quartz clock behind the bar and said, "Ten minutes from now."

Before leaving, Monica blew Bruce a kiss.

Martin noticed Bruce staring intently at Monica's retreating figure and said, "You've got your eye on her?"

"I'm a civilized man." Bruce picked up a glass of ice-cold beer and downed it in one gulp.

Martin emphasized, "I know you're a civilized man!"

…………

About ten minutes later, Elena and Jennifer bought two tickets and went into the House of the Wild Things together.

Upon seeing Elena, Martin instructed someone to summon the male duo to the stage. Accompanied by energetic music, the male duo performed a high-energy dance for all the customers.

The whole place immediately went wild.

Jennifer discovered that many people had forgotten their family responsibilities and their proper place within the family, instead throwing money around on stage.

Debauchery and decadence are plunging Atlanta's social atmosphere into a deep abyss.

Jennifer and her like-minded friends have been trying their best to hold on and prevent it from slipping.

However, the moral problems in American society are becoming increasingly serious.

After less than half an hour, Jennifer said to Elena, "Let's go."

Elena followed her out of the Wild Things House.

Jennifer said, "You go back first, I have something to do at headquarters in Atlanta."

Elena nodded, and after Jennifer drove away, she got into Martin's Ford.

Not long after, Martin came out of the club and got into the car.

Elena said, "She was furious and went to headquarters."

Martin patted Elena on the shoulder: "Keep in touch with her."

…………

On Saturday afternoon, Martin was practicing facial muscle control in front of the mirror at home when he suddenly received a call from Ivan, saying that people were starting to gather across from the club.

Martin grabbed the car keys and left, first asking Elena, then notifying Bruce and the little golden retriever.

Upon arriving at Saijo Street, Martin noticed a steady stream of people of all ages coming from both sides of the road and converging on the wide sidewalk opposite the club, many carrying posters or similar items.

Jennifer and other core members of the Methodist Association are highly experienced.

In the porch of the Wild Things' House, Martin took off his coat and threw it on a chair, asking, "How's it going?"

Bruce peeked out and said, "More people are coming. I estimate there will be about 200."

"Whose phone has a call recording function?" Martin asked.

Ivan said, "I have one, and so do Golden Retriever, Hart, and Carrington."

Martin made a quick decision: "Old Brooks, find all the hotline numbers we've collected, call the media reporters, tell them we have big news here, and make sure the calls are recorded. Nobody can owe our informants a reward!"

Ivan's eyes widened in astonishment, as if he were seeing a mountain of banknotes: "I'd call you Boss Martin!"

Bruce grabbed Martin's shoulder and reminded him, "There are no rewards for fake news."

Martin took out his phone and said, "Old civilized man, you underestimate the civilized people of the new era."

He found Fatty Andrew's number in his contacts and dialed it. The call was answered quickly: "Mr. Andrew, it's me, Martin. I found something on Saijo Street, so I'm calling."
