America achieves both fame and fortune
Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Assistant Ella and several others tried their best to stop them, but the boss, Kelly Gray, was still affected. Someone pinched her hard, leaving a yellowish-brown stain on her white business jacket, which emitted an unpleasant smell.
Kelly Grey, who came from a privileged background, had never experienced anything like this before. She turned pale with fright and felt as if she was about to be overwhelmed.
Suddenly, a deep male voice came from behind: "Come here, come this way!"
Kelly Gray turned her head and saw a young man in a tight T-shirt leading several people out of the Wild Beast House.
Bruce and Martin worked together to force their way through, helping Martin reach Kelly Gray.
Martin shoved away the people rushing at him, but even more rushed forward. He grabbed Kelly Gray's arm with one hand and a brown-haired woman in her forties with the other, shouting, "Hurry up, let's get out of here!"
Kelly Gray quickly ran towards the Wild Things House.
Martin shielded them as they walked back, and taking advantage of the chaos, he reached his right hand behind his neck and scratched the left side of his neck.
The group entered the Beast House, and Kelly Grey, still terrified, shouted, "Close the door! Close that damn door right now!"
My own safety is far more important than that of my colleagues fighting on the front lines.
Seeing that all his men had returned, Martin and Bruce closed the door together and locked it from the inside.
"This is insane, everyone's gone mad."
Five more people followed them in, and forty-year-old Rachel was terrified: "Those people are all crazy."
Martin then said, "It's chaotic outside. Why don't you stay here for a while?"
Sirens blared outside, and a large number of APDs arrived.
But Kelly Gray absolutely refused to go out and followed Martin inside. "Fine," she said, seeing the bar and liquor cabinet. "Could I have a glass of sweet wine?"
Bruce laid out six glass glasses and poured peach liqueur into them.
Martin took out a small pack of wet wipes, gave one to everyone, handed it to Kelly Gray, then stood next to her, opened the last pack, and started wiping his neck.
Kelly Gray wiped her hands and the scratches on her body, smelled the pungent odor on her coat, took it off and threw it aside, when she suddenly heard a grimacing sound.
She turned her head and saw three bloody marks on the neck of the young man who had saved them.
"Thank you." Kelly Gray, having calmed down somewhat, asked, "Are you badly injured?"
Martin smiled. "It's nothing, I just got scratched. Actually, we're the ones who should be thanking you; you were there to protect us."
This man was handsome, had a pleasant voice, and was injured while saving her, leaving a deep impression on Kelly Grey.
Ivan came over, looked at Martin's neck, and cursed, "Who hurt you? I'll go beat him to a pulp!"
Martin wanted to kick him, but held back and kept it in mind, saying, "This is insane. I never thought things would turn out like this."
Bruce handed Ivan the trash can, telling him to collect the used wipes and take out the trash, instead of acting like an idiot.
Kelly Gray drank half a glass of wine, her thoughts gradually returning, and asked, "Why are you being targeted?"
Martin told the truth: "This afternoon, those people suddenly gathered outside the club."
Kelly Gray frowned in thought.
Martin selectively told the truth: "I know your Mr. Andrew. Mr. Andrew told me to notify him immediately if I discover any behavior targeting you. I called Mr. Andrew."
Kelly Gray remembers Andrew, a long-time employee of her company.
Martin stretched his neck slightly, wincing in pain. "Sorry, I didn't expect things to turn out this way..."
Kelly Gray waved her hand: "None of your business. The road to freedom is always difficult."
"Yes!" Martin said helplessly, "We didn't provoke anyone, but those stubborn and crazy guys attacked us on their own initiative."
Rachel, who had gone to the porch, returned and said, "APD has the situation under control. Kelly, do you want to go out and take charge?"
Upon hearing the word "go out," Kelly Gray was extremely reluctant.
But she couldn't say that, because besides Rachel, there were several other ordinary members.
Abandoning her companions would affect her leadership.
Kelly Gray was secretly annoyed, unsure whether Rachel did it on purpose.
Martin, observant and perceptive, spoke up: "I suggest you all stay put. The recent conflict could result in many of our brothers and sisters being detained by the APD. You are the backbone of this force; if you are detained by the police, who will actively rescue those people?"
These words sound completely different coming from an outsider versus from Kelly Gray herself.
One of the men accompanying Rachel to the porch immediately said, "Yes, there are many people being held by the APD. We can't let them be detained overnight."
Kelly Gray looked at Martin with a newfound appreciation in her eyes and asked, "Does the club have a back door?"
Martin said, "Yes, in a quiet alley."
Kelly Gray took out her phone and dialed a number: "I'm at Beast House on Saijo Street. Send two cars over immediately, to the back door."
Rachel didn't say anything more.
After considering the situation tonight, Kelly Gray got up and walked towards a secluded spot, nodding to Martin, "Let's talk alone for a bit."
Martin followed her to the other side of the stage.
Kelly Gray asked, "What's your name? Do you have the authority to make decisions?"
"Martin Davis, you can just call me Martin."
"Alright, Martin, this is going to have a big impact tonight." Kelly Gray intended to influence public opinion: "You'll be getting media interviews later, you know what to do?"
Martin declared righteously, "You stepped forward to protect the Wild Things House, to protect innocent people, and were forced to defend yourselves."
He emphasized, "You are heroes!"
Kelly Gray had completely calmed down by this point: "Very good, remember your position."
Martin immediately replied, "I've always been on your side."
"Let me introduce myself." Considering Martin's importance, Kelly Gray handed him a business card: "My name is Kelly Gray."
She emphasized, "Remember to let me know before the reporter conducts the interview, and I will have someone assist you."
Martin asked, "Are the reporters going to cover this tonight?"
Kelly Gray said, "I'll send someone over as soon as possible."
Soon, the vehicle that was picking them up arrived at the back gate of the club, and Martin, along with Bruce, saw Kelly Gray and her group off.
With no one else around, Bruce said, "I underestimated you. You actually managed to make the old 'hero saves the damsel in distress' story even more amazing."
Martin shrugged: "Old-fashioned explanations prove classics work."
