Chapter 8 Pet Crookshanks

Chapter 8 Pet Crookshanks

"Let's be friends. My name is Hermione Granger!"

Hermione extended her right hand to Jerry. She felt that this little boy was different from the other classmates she had met before, and that she seemed to get along well with him.

"Jerry Carmen!"

When Jerry heard Hermione's introduction, he was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and shook her hand.

"Jerry, I'm going to buy textbooks. See you when school starts!"

Hermione returned to her parents, waved to Jerry, and left Madam Malkin's Robe Shop.

See you when school starts!

Once Hermione and her family had completely left, a look of confusion immediately appeared on Jerry's face.

Does Hermione have prominent front teeth and thick brown curls?

This seems quite different from the image he saw in the movies. He remembered that Hermione in the movies didn't have front teeth and was very beautiful.

But speaking of which, the girl he just met would probably be very pretty if she styled her hair and straightened her front teeth.

After all, the little girl has big eyes and her features are actually quite regular; it's just that she doesn't know how to dress up and her front teeth ruin her image a bit.

"It's all better now, darling."

Ten minutes later, the short, plump Madam Malkin also came to Jerry's side, carrying a bag containing Hogwarts uniforms.

"OK, thanks!"

Jerry paid the bill, put the clothes in his suitcase, pulled the trolley, and walked out of Madam Malkin's robe shop.

"Professor McGonagall!"

As soon as Jerry stepped outside, he saw Professor McGonagall walking towards him carrying a bag of spellbooks and quickly waved.

"Okay, now all we need is the pet and the wand. Ollivanders Wand Shop is at the end of Diagon Alley, so let's go to the Magical Zoo first!"

After putting the spellbook into her suitcase, Professor McGonagall pulled Jerry and the cart along the streets of Diagon Alley.

When we passed by Florin's Ice Cream Shop, I also bought Jerry a Hundred Flavors Ice Cream (an ice cream that can taste a hundred different flavors).

"That's Gringotts Bank, a wizarding bank run by goblins. If you need to store valuables, you can go to this bank; it's quite safe, uh, I guess!"

Professor McGonagall noticed that Jerry was looking at the tall, white building on the right and patiently explained it to him.

However, halfway through her explanation, she suddenly remembered the Gringotts theft from yesterday, and her tone became less certain.

Jerry nodded to indicate that he understood.

Actually, he wasn't looking at the bank just now; he was just looking at the two fairies standing guard at the bank entrance and marveling at how ugly the fairies in this world really are.

"By the way, Mr. Carmen, I must give you a serious warning: if you ever come to Diagon Alley alone in the future, please remember, don't go into that alley!"

At this moment, Professor McGonagall suddenly turned serious and pointed to a narrow, dark alleyway opposite Gringotts.

"That is?"

Jerry's heart skipped a beat; he already had a guess.

Professor McGonagall replied with a stern face:

"That's Knockout Alley. Just know that it's a very dangerous alley for you!"

"Okay, I got it!"

Jerry nodded seriously.

In his view, Professor McGonagall was probably the kind of person who was all bark and no bite. Although she usually looked serious, she cared for young wizards just as much as any professor at Hogwarts.

Seeing how well-behaved Jerry was, Professor McGonagall's expression relaxed slightly, and she led him onward toward the Magical Zoo.

The Magical Zoo is located between the Bouncing & Playful Magical Joke Shop and Gringotts. The shop is small, but it has a wide variety of pets inside.

As soon as Jerry stepped into the shop, he saw a whole wall covered with a dense array of iron cages.

Inside, there are giant purple toads gobbling down dead flies, enormous turtles with shells that gleam like jewels on their backs, white rabbits that can transform into silk hats at any time, and cats, mice, and ravens of various colors, among others.

"Professor McGonagall, you've arrived. Is there anything you need?"

A young witch wearing thick black glasses saw Professor McGonagall at the door and immediately greeted her respectfully.

"Pavla, I brought a first-year student here to buy a pet for school."

Professor McGonagall smiled slightly.

"How's work going?"

"Great, the boss is pretty good to me. What pet does the little one like? I can give you a 20% discount!"

The young witch adjusted her glasses, looked down, and smiled as she asked Jerry.

"Madam, I want a cat!"

Jerry scanned the entire store and quickly spotted his target.

"What do you think of this gray shorthair cat? It's very gentle and would be a great pet!"

Upon hearing this, the young witch immediately picked out the most handsome British Shorthair and placed it in front of Jerry.

Jerry glanced at it, shook his head, and then pointed to the big-faced yellow cat that was currently perched on the cage at the very top of the wall:

"I like that type of cat!"

He remembered that Hermione's cat seemed to be a yellow long-haired cat, and the one in the entire shop that fit the description was the one he was referring to.

"Krok Hill?"

The young witch looked surprised.

Crookshank had been sitting in the shop for years because of its appearance, but no one wanted it. She never expected that Jerry would take a liking to it at first sight.

"Yes, I think it's ugly-cute, and very adorable!"

Jerry replied, blatantly lying.

"That's wonderful! I've been worried it wouldn't find a good owner. I hope you'll take good care of it!"

Pavla was once a student at Hufflepuff at Hogwarts. Because of her love for magical creatures, she became a clerk at the Magical Creatures Shop in Diagon Alley after graduation.

She was happy that Jerry bought Crookshank not because it was another successful business deal, but because Crookshank had found an owner who loved it.

"I will try my best to take good care of it, even though this is my first time having a pet!"

Jerry's tone revealed a hint of sincerity.

After leaving the Magical Zoo, Jerry, carrying Crookshanks who was snoring in his arms, followed Professor McGonagall to the last shop at the end of Diagon Alley.

That's Ollivander's Wand Shop, which has been specializing in wand making for thousands of years.

The process of choosing a wand was just like in the movies: the shopkeeper would take a measuring tape and measure him for a while before starting to test the wands.

The process was uneventful, just like any other young wizard, since he had exchanged for a normal wizard bloodline.

After trying two or three wands, Jerry quickly found one that suited him well.

"Alder wood, the heart nerve of a fire dragon, eleven inches long... you must be a helpful little wizard!"

Looking at the wand Jerry was waving in his hand, Ollivander explained with a smile:

"Alder is a type of wood that is not easy to bend, but I have found that its ideal owner is neither stubborn nor obstinate, but rather a helpful, considerate and likable wizard."

Are you helpful?

Upon hearing Ollivander's explanation, Jerry looked at the wand in his hand, a strange expression appearing on his face.
