Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard

Chapter 7 Hermione Granger

Chapter 7 Hermione Granger

The Hogwarts scholarship is one hundred Galleons per year, which does not need to be collected from Gringotts; Professor McGonagall brought it with her during her home visit.

There are three main types of currency in the wizarding world: Galleons, Sickles, and Nats.

One gold Galleon is equal to 17 silver Sickles, and one silver Sickle is equal to 29 bronze Nats (this is a headache for those who are bad at math).

"We have a lot of stuff, Mr. Carmen. We might need to buy a large trunk first, and we'll also need a small cart!"

Professor McGonagall, pulling the bewildered Jerry along, led him through the dense crowd and soon arrived at a shop selling miscellaneous goods.

In this shop, Jerry bought a huge suitcase, a trolley, a set of glass or crystal medicine bottles, a telescope, and a brass balance.

Then they went to a crucible shop with a shiny "Patchi" sign and bought a crucible (made of pewter, standard size 2).

"What kind of pet do you want, an owl, a cat, or a toad?"

After leaving the cauldron shop, Professor McGonagall looked at the nearby Ee-ra Owl shop and asked Jerry a question.

"pet?"

Jerry looked thoughtful.

Actually, Jerry didn't really have any ideas about keeping pets, since he didn't have the habit of keeping pets in his previous life.

"Young wizards these days all love owls because they can help deliver letters and gifts, making them more practical!"

Professor McGonagall assumed Jerry didn't know much about pets, so she recommended the most popular pet at Hogwarts at the time.

"An owl? Forget it, I'll stick with cats, I prefer cats!"

Owls are indeed very useful for young wizards, as they can help deliver letters and gifts. In contrast, cats and toads seem to have little use other than eating.

But Jerry knew that in a pet treatment shop in Diagon Alley, there was a cat with raccoon blood named Crookshanks.

That was the cat Sirius described as the smartest, capable of quickly identifying not only morally corrupt or suspicious people, but also distinguishing Animagus in animal form.

In addition, it can solve some problems on its own without help or guidance.

As someone with a secret, Jerry felt that if he had to have a pet, a cat like this wouldn't be bad.

Crucially, with Crookshanks present, Ron's Scabbers, the mouse that Peter Pettigrew transformed into, should no longer dare to approach him.

As for owls, there are public owls available at the school that you can use for free, so why bother raising your own?

There's also an owl post office outside.

"Cats? These days, very few young wizards keep cats as pets!"

Professor McGonagall was slightly surprised by Jerry's answer, but a smile appeared on her face.

As an Animagus who transforms into a tabby cat, Professor McGonagall naturally adores cats.

These days, it's popular for young wizards to buy owls as pets, and owls are indeed more helpful to young wizards than cats, which is why she recommended that Jerry buy an owl.

However, Jerry would be very happy if she chose a cat as a pet.

I prefer cats!

Jerry shrugged and chuckled.

"Okay, then we need to go to the Magical Zoo later. This place only has owls; they don't have any other pets!"

Professor McGonagall smiled, a rare occurrence, and then led Jerry to the Madam Mokin's Robes shop across from the Owl Shop.

"You go in and try on the clothes first, I'll go next door to buy you a book, and then we'll go to the Magical Zoo up ahead to buy a pet!"

"no problem!"

Jerry nodded and walked straight into Madam Mojin's robe shop.

"What a brave little guy!"

Seeing that Jerry showed no fear whatsoever in this unfamiliar environment, aside from curiosity, and even without hesitation about going to the store alone to try on clothes, McGonagall couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

"Are you buying Hogwarts school uniforms, darling?"

As soon as Jerry pushed open the door and stepped into the store, a short, plump witch greeted him with a beaming smile.

"Yes, I need three plain wizard robes, a plain pointed hat for daytime wear, a pair of dragonskin protective gloves, and a black cloak with silver buttons for winter. Thank you!"

Faced with the short, stout witch's question, Jerry politely answered the instructions he had seen on the parchment.

"Oh, don't worry, we have plenty here. To be honest, there's a young girl trying on clothes right now!"

The short, plump witch smiled and pointed to the back of the shop.

Jerry followed the short, plump witch's finger and saw a young woman with thick, messy brown curls and a pair of large, rabbit-like front teeth standing on a footstool.

A witch next to her was pinning her black robe up with a safety pin and measuring something with a measuring tape.

"Hey, are you going to Hogwarts too?"

As Jerry stood on the footstool beside her, and the witch also draped him in a black robe to begin taking his measurements, the little girl next to him asked him in a somewhat arrogant tone.

"Yes, I'm a freshman this year!"

Jerry smiled.

If Jerry were an eleven-year-old boy, he would definitely be a little angry if a little girl of about the same age spoke to him in an overbearing tone.

But in reality, Jerry, considering his previous life plus the eleven years since his time travel, is already an old man in his early forties.

So when he saw a young girl speaking to him in an arrogant tone, he only felt that the girl was quite cute.

"Me too. Nobody in my family knows magic, so when I received my acceptance letter, I was extremely surprised, but also incredibly happy, because, I mean, as far as I know, this is the best magic school!"

The little girl seemed to be a bit talkative, and taking advantage of the fact that she couldn't move while standing on the footstool, she started chatting with Jerry.

"Looks like you know quite a lot!"

Jerry readily complimented him.

The little girl immediately raised her chin proudly:

"Of course! When Professor McGonagall came to my house yesterday, I asked her so many questions, and I've already decided to memorize all the textbooks before school starts. I'm sure I'll become the best wizard!"

"Oh, definitely! I could tell at a glance that you're no ordinary person. You're destined to become an exceptionally talented wizard. Keep it up!"

Jerry reached out from under his black robe and gave the young woman a thumbs-up, secretly amused.

"What an interesting little girl!"

"Hermione, are you done here? We've bought everything except the textbooks!"

Just then, the shop door was pushed open, and a middle-aged couple pulled a small cart into the house, calling out to the little girl who was chatting with Jerry.
