Chapter 816 Delaying Time

Chapter 816 Delaying Time (First Update)

"General, please calm down. Let me talk to him. He's just not thinking things through right now. I'm his best friend, and he listens to me the most."

At this moment, Jerry suddenly stepped forward and began to smooth things over.

Just as Clark was about to retort, Jerry's voice rang in his mind.

"Don't be so honest. Let's keep them calm for now and see what they do next."

For Jerry, killing Zod and his crew in space before they even launched an attack on Earth would yield the fewest Red Stars, which wouldn't be worthwhile.

Besides, even if he and Clark eliminate Zod and the others without letting the human government see Zod's true colors, they won't receive any gratitude from humanity.

"Okay, let me think about it!"

Upon hearing Jerry's telepathic message, Clark replied in a muffled voice.

When Zod saw that Jerry could actually persuade Clark, his initial intention to take action was reconsidered.

"Very good, Mr. Jerry. I grant permission to set aside a special place for you and your family to live after the Earth is terraformed."

After saying that, he gave an order to Fiora beside him:

"Take them to their rooms to rest first, then bring them to see me in half an hour."

"Yes, General!"

Fiora gave a Kryptonian salute and, accompanied by several Kryptonian soldiers, escorted Clark and Jerry toward the warship's lounge.

After Clark and Jerry left, a bald Kryptonian scientist carefully collected the blood Clark had just vomited and put it into a special Kryptonian examination machine.

"General, do you believe what they say?"

"I don't believe it. That Earthling who came with Karl is suspicious, but the most important thing right now is to figure out where the manual is."

General Zod shook his head.

As the highest military leader of the Kryptonians, he was no fool. Karl insisted on bringing that Earthling along, and that Earthling could survive on the Kryptonian warship without the aid of machines, so there must be something fishy going on.

Most importantly, he could sense that the Earthling didn't seem to be afraid of them at all, which was highly unusual.

He had ostensibly told Fiora to take the two to a room to rest, but in reality, that room was a prison cell on the warship, filled with surveillance cameras. He wanted to see what the two were up to.

If Clark is truly willing to hand over the book, all the better. If not, then he should personally go to Earth, capture all of Clark's relatives and friends, and force him to hand over the book.

"General, I do have a guess, but it will take some time to verify."

The Kryptonian scientists took the collected blood from Clark and returned to the laboratory first.

Zod nodded upon hearing this, reached out and pressed a button on the control panel next to him. Suddenly, a large virtual screen lit up in the entire command hall, showing images of Jerry and Clark in the room.

"Jerry, what should we do now?"

Inside a Kryptonian-style room, Clark asked after seeing Fiora and the others leave.

Upon hearing this, Jerry earnestly began to persuade Clark:

"Clark, I think General Zod is right. It's already very kind of him to allow our loved ones to live on the new Earth. The main thing is that there are so many of them; you can't defeat any of them."

However, unlike what was displayed on the virtual screen, Clark heard another voice from Jerry in his mind.

"Don't worry, there are surveillance cameras in this room. Our every move is being monitored by Zod."

Let's stall for time and find an opportunity to figure out how Zod transformed Earth into Krypton. Only after we figure that out can we leave and know how to deal with the situation.

My plan is this: I'll wait a bit... then... and then...

After hearing Jerry's plan, Clark nodded to himself.

That's true. There are more than thirty Kryptonians on the entire warship. Even if he can fight two, three, or four, he's not confident about taking on more than thirty.

So far, in Clark's mind, Jerry is a magician who can perform magical arts, but he doesn't believe that Jerry is stronger than himself.

After all, the thirty-three years he had lived on Earth had made him fully realize just how powerful he truly was.

Ten minutes later, in the command center.

Zod looked at Jerry on the screen, who was constantly trying to persuade Carl, and a strange expression appeared on his face.

Could it be that I'm overthinking things?

"General, I know where the treasure manual is hidden!"

Just as Zod was filled with confusion, the Kryptonian scientist who had left earlier returned to the command center excitedly with the same equipment.

"where?"

Upon hearing this, Zod immediately perked up and shifted his gaze from the virtual screen.

The Kryptonian scientist replied smugly:

"General, Joe El thought he had hidden it perfectly, but I had my suspicions. Sure enough, he didn't hide the book in the spaceship, but instead integrated the genetic code of a billion people inside into his son's cells."

The descendants of all Kryptonians are now stored within the body of this exile!

"So, as long as Clark is in our hands, we can extract all the Kryptonian genes from his cells?"

Zod turned his head to look at Clark on the virtual screen, his eyes already shining.

The Kryptonian scientist nodded respectfully:

"Yes, General, as long as we have his body, whether he is alive or dead, it doesn't matter."

"If possible, try not to kill him. Although he was born on Earth, he is still a citizen of Krypton. However, if he remains obstinate, then we will extract his genes from his corpse."

Zod harbored no hatred towards Clark, nor even towards Clark's father.

Before the Kryptonian Elders decided to destroy the planet, he and Clark's father, Joe, were actually good friends. It was only because they held different views on the future of Krypton that they eventually became adversaries.

When Joe and the Kryptonian elders ran out of resources, they chose to wait for death because their civilization had reached its end, and everyone's future was predetermined, leaving them with no hope.

Kryptonians reproduce using genes from the Codex. If a person is missing for a certain position, their genes are retrieved to create a new one, just like robots.

Clark is the only Kryptonian to have been naturally produced on the entire planet, and Joe believes that Clark is the hope for the future of Krypton.

But Zod didn't think so. He believed that Krypton's social structure was the most perfect. Since Krypton's energy had been exhausted, they should go and conquer a new planet with life and transform it into a new Krypton.

Many years ago, Krypton already possessed this advanced technology, and he couldn't understand why the Elders would stand by and watch Krypton perish.

Krypton is about to be reborn in his hands. If Clark is willing to join, he will be the hero of Krypton's rebirth.
