Chapter 42 Arrival at the Burrow
Chapter 42 Arrival at the Burrow
A look of surprise crossed Wesley's face, and he frowned slightly. He hadn't expected to be invited to the Weasleys' house for Christmas.
"Are you inviting me to your home for Christmas?" he repeated, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
Upon hearing Wes's question, the twin brothers, Fred and George, immediately broke into bright smiles.
"Mom heard about how well we did at school this year," Fred said excitedly.
"I didn't cause any trouble at school," George added proudly.
"She knows we're learning alchemy from you," Fred continued.
"I want to thank you," George concluded.
After the twins finished speaking, they both looked at Wess, their eyes filled with anticipation as they awaited his reply.
After spending some time together, Wes had gotten used to this rapid-fire communication style.
"Christmas?" Si murmured to himself.
Wes lived a solitary life, devoting himself entirely to the study of magic and never having any deep interactions with anyone.
This was the first time in his life that he had received an invitation from someone else, and for him, it was undoubtedly a novel and unique experience.
Moreover, Wesley was always curious about Mr. Weasley's creatively modified cars.
"Okay, why not?"
Wes finally agreed. He looked at the twins who jumped up excitedly, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
Then he asked, "Is there anything I need to prepare?"
"We don't need anything," the twins answered in unison, their smiles growing even brighter.
"Mom will be so happy."
As they talked, they skipped and hopped away, their joyful figures like two energetic little birds.
They couldn't wait to tell Mrs. Weasley the good news.
Wes wasn't going to visit empty-handed; he spent a lot of time carefully selecting a gift.
Each gift was carefully considered by him, striving to both suit the Weasley family's tastes and express his own feelings.
Finally, the Christmas holidays have arrived.
Wesley and the Weasley children, along with Hermione, were sitting in the same carriage.
The carriage was filled with a cheerful atmosphere. Wes had bought a bunch of candy for the children, and the colorful candy wrappers shimmered in the sunlight.
Ginny was a little shy. She sat quietly in the corner, occasionally stealing glances at Wes, this stranger.
Percy was very enthusiastic and took the initiative to talk to Wes, but his words and actions made Wes feel that he was a bit "pretentious".
Percy tried hard to act like an adult, his every move exuding maturity and composure, but his deliberate performance revealed his inner immaturity to Wes.
Hermione, on the other hand, was like a talking encyclopedia, constantly asking Wes a whole host of questions.
Ron couldn't help but tease her, "Even candy can't shut you up?"
After being glared at by Hermione, Ron was so startled that he quickly stuffed a piece of chocolate into his mouth, his flustered appearance making everyone burst into laughter.
Soon, the train arrived at platform nine and three-quarters.
As soon as they got off the train, Wess saw Mrs. Weasley waving enthusiastically at them.
A warm smile graced her face.
Ginny jumped off the train with glee, like a little bird returning to its nest, and nestled into Mrs. Weasley's arms.
This was the first time Ginny had been away from home for so long, and her longing for her mother was overwhelming.
Mrs. Weasley gently stroked Ginny's head repeatedly, tears welling in her eyes.
"We meet again, Wes."
Arthur strode over and gave Wess a warm hug, a hug full of sincerity: "Fred and George must have caused you a lot of trouble."
"Hello, Mr. Weasley," Weasley replied politely.
"Call me Arthur..." Arthur said with a smile.
"Arthur." After Wes changed his address, Arthur's smile became even brighter.
"Fred and George are very bright children; they have an extraordinary talent for alchemy."
Hearing Wes's praise, the twins proudly raised their heads, deliberately putting on an arrogant look.
His exaggerated expression made everyone burst into laughter.
Hermione also reunited with her parents, and after exchanging blessings, they parted ways.
Wes had originally wanted to try out the flying car, but unfortunately the car had been confiscated by the Ministry of Magic, which left him slightly disappointed.
When they arrived at the Weasleys’ home, “The Burrow,” a four-story, crooked house came into view.
The house looked like it could collapse at any moment, giving it a precarious, unstable feel.
There was a large garden outside, and Wes even saw several goblins inside, busily moving about in the flowerbeds, adding a touch of life and vitality to the garden.
There was also a shed containing various tools and miscellaneous items.
As soon as they entered the house, everyone eagerly took off their coats, creating a stark contrast between the warmth inside and the cold outside.
However, there were so many Weasleys that the house was quite noisy.
Ron was eager to be the first to go upstairs, but the twins stopped him.
They shoved each other, mischievous smiles on their faces.
Taking advantage of her small size, Ginny nimbly squeezed through the middle of her three older brothers, her agile figure making everyone laugh.
After a chaotic scene, everyone finally managed to pack their luggage.
Mrs. Weasley began preparing dinner, and the children all came to help.
However, their clumsiness caused them to either knock over plates or spill condiments, which only increased Mrs. Weasley's workload.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Arthur stood by, somewhat helpless, and shrugged in resignation.
He wasn't good at cooking and could only watch helplessly from the sidelines.
Weiss was the same; he seemed somewhat overwhelmed by the busyness in the kitchen.
However, he has an all-around butler who can always solve all kinds of problems for him whenever he needs it.
Wes opened the suitcase, and Jandy stepped out.
No one was curious about Jandy; house-elves were not uncommon creatures in the magical world.
The Weasleys were fascinated by Weasley's magical suitcase, especially Arthur and his twin brother.
They gathered around the suitcase, carefully examining this unusual magical item.
As someone with a deep interest in magical items, Arthur's eyes were filled with admiration for this high-level magical artifact.
The twin brothers, Fred and George, were completely ignited with curiosity. They took turns touching the suitcase, trying to discover more secrets inside.
Seeing their interest, Weiss generously handed them the suitcase so they could observe it more closely.
"Oh, Merlin's beard! It's dragon skin!"
Fred's exclamation instantly drew everyone's attention. His fingers gently traced the surface of the suitcase, the texture and warmth confirming his judgment.
"Dragon's hide??"
George, who was closest, snatched the box away and examined it closely with wide eyes.
Others also gathered around, all captivated by the magical suitcase.
Arthur, on the other hand, appeared more professional. He took out a pair of glasses and carefully examined every corner of the suitcase. He knew that dragon hide was an extremely precious material, and to use it to make a magical suitcase was an extraordinary skill in itself.
"This is indeed dragon skin," Arthur concluded after observing for a while.
"How many Galleons is this worth!" Ron's eyes lit up, and he was practically drooling.
Countless Galleons flashed through his mind as he imagined himself possessing such wealth.
"We couldn't afford that even if we sold our whole house," Percy exclaimed. "Is the professor's salary that high?"
"Professor, where would you get that much money?" Wes shrugged. "My funds all come from selling the treasures I've acquired on adventures."
"It took me a lot of effort to make this suitcase."
Wes felt a pang of regret at the thought of the money he would spend to gather the materials to make the suitcase.
"Professor, what's in the suitcase?"
Everyone was very curious about what was inside Wes's valuable box.
"It's a secret." Seeing that Wesley was unwilling to talk about it, the Weasley family did not press him.
They know that everyone has their own secrets, and respecting others' privacy is a virtue.
"Dinner is ready," Mrs. Weasley's voice came from the kitchen.
The small dining table was full of people, and everyone was laughing and chatting, creating a very warm atmosphere.
Mrs. Weasley was delighted to have guests at home this year, but she was somewhat disappointed that her eldest son Bill and second son Charlie couldn't make it back due to work.
Dinner was lavish, with a variety of delicious dishes laid out, presumably to entertain Wes, their guest. However, no matter how much food there was, it was quickly devoured by the four teenage boys.
They looked like wolf cubs that had been starving for a long time.
Mrs. Weasley was delighted: "It seems I'll have to prepare a lot more for tomorrow's Christmas dinner."
