Chapter 44 The Philosopher's Stone
Chapter 44 The Philosopher's Stone
After leaving the Weasleys, Weasley returned to Hogwarts. Here, he could concentrate on his goal—the Philosopher's Stone.
The Philosopher's Stone is a treasure coveted by all alchemists, capable of transforming ordinary metals into gold and even granting its holder immortality.
Wes carefully lifted a Philosopher's Stone and placed it in the warm sunlight.
Saying it's a single stone isn't entirely accurate. The Philosopher's Stone exists in a very special form; it's neither solid nor liquid. This unique property has led it to be called the "fifth entity."
Under its dazzling light, Wes seemed to be able to feel the pain and wails of the souls imprisoned in the stone.
"Never use the Philosopher's Stone directly."
Wes knew that although the Philosopher's Stone had the ability to prolong life, its creation involved the sacrifice of human souls, which were filled with resentment and pain after being transformed into the Philosopher's Stone.
If used directly, the resentment of these spirits may erupt at some point, causing unpredictable harm to the user.
Unless he talks to them one by one, like Hohenheim, to resolve their resentment, but that would require a lot of time and effort, and Wes doesn't currently have that option.
Wes longs to harness the power of the Philosopher's Stone, but doesn't know how to mitigate the severe consequences of using it directly.
"I need to gather all the information related to the Philosopher's Stone," he muttered to himself.
The Philosopher's Stone is not unique to any one world; legends about the Philosopher's Stone exist in many worlds.
"The Philosopher's Stone"
"Stones from Heaven"
"The Philosopher's Stone" and "The Elixir of Immortality" are both alternative names for the Philosopher's Stone.
Wes suspects that the Philosopher's Stone created by Nicolas Flamel in the Harry Potter world may be the Philosopher's Stone.
Unfortunately, the Philosopher's Stone had already been destroyed by Dumbledore; otherwise, Wes could have made a comparison. Thinking of this, Wes couldn't help but feel a little regretful.
He placed Nicolas Flamel's alchemy notes, the information he had collected in the alchemy world, and the method for making the Philosopher's Stone on his desk.
Then he spread out a sheet of scrap paper, held a quill pen in his hand, and focused intently.
"It's time to begin," he said softly, then buried himself in his research, his pen writing incessantly, recording every thought and discovery.
Every word and every symbol represents his steps in exploring the truth; he moves step by step toward his goal.
For three whole days, Wes did not leave his office.
He was completely absorbed in his research and lost track of time.
All the food and drink were brought by the loyal Jandi.
Jandy silently supported Wes without uttering a single complaint.
The office floor was covered with countless sheets of paper, filled with Weiss's thoughts and explorations.
His hair was disheveled, his eyes were red from long hours of studying, his nails were covered in ink, and he exuded a distinctive scent of focused work.
"The Philosopher's Stone in that alchemy world is too evil. It was forged from the land itself and the souls of millions of people were refined into the Philosopher's Stone. It is undoubtedly using other people's lives to increase one's own lifespan, which is why it has created vengeful spirits."
"What about the Philosopher's Stone? And what is the principle behind it? Nicolas Flamel's Alchemy Notebook doesn't record it!"
Wes felt frustrated. He crumpled the scrap paper in his hand into a ball, threw it carelessly on the ground, and let out a long sigh, "So annoying~"
Wes desperately wanted to use his wand to force Nicolas Flamel to reveal how the Philosopher's Stone was made, but he knew it was impossible.
After entrusting the Philosopher's Stone to Dumbledore, Nicolas Flamel disappeared from public view, and even Dumbledore did not know his whereabouts.
Moreover, Weiss knew he couldn't threaten someone like Nicolas Flamel who faced death head-on.
He rubbed his face, trying to clear his head.
He knew he had to find another way.
"The Philosopher's Stone does indeed have the effect of prolonging life, but the most important thing is how to deal with the vengeful spirits inside and transform the Philosopher's Stone into a pure energy body."
After finding a new direction, Wess planned to continue his research, but his head was spinning and he couldn't concentrate.
"What's that smell?" He suddenly noticed a sour, foul odor and, realizing it was coming from himself, immediately cast a cleansing spell to remove the strange smell.
He opened the window, letting fresh air rush into the room. The fresh air felt like a clear spring, flowing into his heart and making him feel comfortable.
Just then, he saw the young wizards carrying their boxes back to school.
"The holiday is over? No wonder I feel so dizzy," Wes muttered to himself.
Sleepiness came like a tide, wave after wave.
Wes couldn't hold on any longer, so he went back to his dorm, took a hot shower, and collapsed comfortably onto his bed.
His body seemed to be overwhelmed by exhaustion, and he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
When Jandy arrived at Weiss's office, he moved like a conductor, tracing lines in the air with his fingers.
Sheets of toilet paper flew into the air one by one, stacked neatly together, and gently landed on the desk.
The messy books and materials seemed to have grown a pair of little feet and arranged themselves in order.
The quill pen and ink bottle have returned to where they all started.
The stains on the table and floor were also removed.
Having done all this, Jandi smiled with satisfaction and left the office.
Weiss slept until noon the next day, when the intense feeling of bloating in his lower abdomen acted like an urgent alarm clock, waking him from his deep sleep.
He got up sleepily and hurried to the bathroom to take care of the problem.
He intended to go back to sleep, but then his stomach started growling.
Wes slowly got out of bed.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
"Master," just then, Jandy appeared, its voice respectful and gentle, "I'll prepare lunch for you."
Wes glanced at the time; it was almost lunchtime. He thought for a moment and decided to go to the cafeteria to eat with the students, hoping it would help him relax.
"No need, I'll go to the restaurant."
As Weiss spoke, he walked toward the washroom.
After washing up, he straightened his clothes and walked steadily into the auditorium.
In the auditorium, the twins and Ron and his siblings saw him and immediately waved excitedly to greet him.
When Wes saw them, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly, and he nodded to them.
Then he turned around and went to the professor's seat.
He tapped the plate lightly with his knife, and with a crisp sound, a steaming hot steak instantly appeared on the previously empty plate.
The steak looked incredibly tempting, emitting a rich aroma that wafted into Wes's nostrils, making his mouth water.
In less than three minutes, Wes devoured the steak in a flash.
However, his stomach still felt empty.
He tapped the table lightly, and soon, a new steak appeared.
He continued to wolf down his food, finishing three steaks in a row before Wess finally put down his knife and fork with satisfaction and carefully wiped his mouth with a napkin.
"When did a troll get into the school?" Snape's mocking voice came from the left side of the table.
The other professors also stared at Wes in shock.
"I've been working on something lately and haven't had time to eat properly," Wes explained casually.
The professors nodded knowingly, showing understanding and sympathy.
"I was like that when I was young," Dean Flitwick said, lost in memories. "That period was both painful and fulfilling."
"Any results?" someone asked curiously.
Wes shook his head slightly in exasperation.
The other professors comforted Wes, telling him not to worry.
Lockhart, however, proudly declared that he would share his success with Wes, brimming with confidence as if he were the most successful person in the world.
However, as soon as the professors saw that he was about to speak, they all found excuses to leave.
Wes looked at Lockhart and thought to himself that he had never seen such a shameless person.
Lockhart's actions caused Wes to lose his appetite, and he returned to his office.
The moment the door closed.
"Ding!"
The panel pops up automatically.
