Chapter 45 Island
Chapter 45 Island
In Wes's mind, the words "Pirates of the Caribbean" swept over him like a tidal wave, instantly sketching a vivid image.
A pirate with delicate pinky fingers, smoky makeup, and a rock star-like, unruly outfit.
This figure is none other than the famous Captain Jack Sparrow, who is undoubtedly the most dazzling protagonist in the legendary story of the Caribbean pirates.
Captain Jack Spolllow's life was one of constant adventure. He bravely traversed the turbulent seas, facing all kinds of dangers and challenges without ever backing down.
"Is there any way in this world to deal with the vengeful spirits trapped in the Philosopher's Stone?"
After experiencing several strange time travels, Wes began to realize that although the mysterious panel did not provide tasks or rewards, each new world seemed to contain clues to solving his current predicament.
He didn't intend to act rashly. After all, the current school year wasn't over yet, and he didn't know how much time this trip to the world of Caribbean pirates would take.
He decided to wait until summer vacation to set off.
Furthermore, he needed to make some thorough preparations before setting off.
After all, Weiss knew practically nothing about navigation.
Weiss arrived at the library, his gaze wandering among the bookshelves, his fingers lightly gliding over each precious book about navigation. He intently perused the ancient nautical charts and logbooks, as if he could glimpse the secrets of the deep sea within them.
Because Wes dealt with the basilisk in advance, Hogwarts seemed to be shrouded in a veil of tranquility afterward, and no other strange things happened.
Lockhart, however, was constantly creating waves in this tranquility.
At first, those events caused a small ripple, but people soon discovered that instead of further boosting his popularity, they were like lifting a glamorous curtain, exposing his true nature as someone who was all show and no substance.
As the last group of students reluctantly left Hogwarts, the lazy atmosphere of summer vacation quietly arrived.
At this moment, Wes embarked on a brand new adventure with great anticipation.
-
The surroundings were shrouded in the deep darkness of night, as if the whole world had been dyed black with ink.
A gentle sea breeze carries the salty scent of the ocean. In the distance, waves crash against the shore, creating a deep and powerful rhythm, like an ancient ballad, telling tales of the sea's mystery and strength.
The bright moon hung high in the velvety deep sky, and the moonlight gently sprinkled on the sparkling sea, as if draping the ocean in a silver veil.
"This is..." Wes narrowed his eyes slightly, carefully examining his surroundings. "An island?"
He muttered to himself, feeling both excited and nervous. In this vast ocean, every island could be the starting point for an adventure, and such islands were as numerous as the stars in the sky.
"First, let's find out where this is. Hopefully, it's not a deserted island," Wes murmured, then cast a levitation spell.
His body slowly rose, floating lightly in mid-air, like a nocturnal owl, silently surveying his surroundings.
On the north side of the island, a faint light appears and disappears in the night, like a distant lighthouse guiding the way.
"Go there and gather information."
Having made up his mind, Wes adjusted his direction and slowly drifted toward the light.
When Wes' feet touched the ground again, the muddy road beneath his feet made him frown slightly.
The surrounding houses stood crookedly, one next to the other, like forgotten toys carelessly abandoned on this desolate land.
Moreover, Wes saw several corpses lying around a corner not far away.
The corpse emitted a foul stench, and a pungent smell permeated the air.
[This doesn't seem like a good place,] Wes thought to himself.
He took a deep breath and decided to continue forward, searching for the source of the light.
As he drew closer to the light, he realized it was coming from the window of a small wooden cabin.
Before he even got close, Weiss was surrounded by a cacophony of noise: men's cheers, rude shouts, the sounds of fierce fighting, and even the occasional sharp echo of gunshots.
When Wes saw the sign hanging in front of the dilapidated wooden house, "Captain Hook," a thought struck him, and he vaguely guessed where he was—a pirate's lair.
This place is a haven for maritime plunderers to sell their stolen goods, seek pleasure, and evade naval pursuit.
Wes's lips curled up slightly, revealing a sly smile: "Perfect opportunity to gather some information."
These pirates spent years venturing out to sea and were extremely well-informed.
Weiss believed that these "hospitable" pirates would provide him with a satisfactory answer.
He reached out and gently pushed open the bar door, deliberately making a creaking sound to attract the attention of the people inside.
The pirates who were playing cards, drinking heavily, or flirting with prostitutes all stopped what they were doing and turned their attention to the gate.
"Good evening, everyone." Wes walked in calmly under the curious or wary gazes of all the pirates.
The pirates began to look Wes up and down.
"His robe is probably worth several tens of silver coins," a one-eyed pirate said first.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
"This kid's skin is even more delicate than a woman's," another pirate muttered, a hint of contempt in his voice.
"He looks like a noble young master who ran away from home," another pirate said confidently.
The pirates looked at Wess as if he were a fat sheep, staring at him greedily, as if every item on him was a priceless treasure.
But most of the pirates remained calm.
"This place is far from the mainland. This person must have something to rely on to get here unharmed."
"It was a deep-seated old pirate with a wrinkled face and sharp eyes," he said in a low voice.
"Never underestimate anyone who ventures out to sea," another pirate chimed in, nodding slightly as he looked Wes up and down, seemingly searching for some clue.
"Especially those who can keep themselves clean at sea," a shrewd pirate added, a knowing smile playing on his lips.
These shrewd pirates recognized Wes's extraordinary nature; they knew that on this unforgiving sea, easily provoking trouble often meant disaster.
As for those short-sighted pirates, they considered death to be a common occurrence at sea, nothing to be alarmed about.
Wes approached the bar, and despite the stains on the tables and chairs, he showed no disgust. He sat down steadily and calmly said, "Boss, I need to ask about someone."
The bartender, a burly man with a scar on his face and an expressionless expression, glanced at Wes before continuing to wipe the cup in his hand, seemingly ignoring Wes's words.
"Look at me, I almost forgot the rules." Wes chuckled softly, and a gold coin suddenly appeared in his hand.
In the dim light, the gold coin shone with an alluring brilliance, like a dazzling star, attracting everyone's attention.
Those eyes were filled with undisguised greed and ill intent, as if a pack of hungry wolves had spotted their prey.
However, Weiss seemed oblivious to the stares of the others, casually tossing the gold coins to the boss.
The gold coin traced a golden arc in the air and landed precisely in the boss's rough palm.
The moment the shopkeeper got his hands on it, he could tell from the weight and texture that it was a genuine gold coin, of excellent quality.
