Chapter 46 News from the Tavern

This guy is no ordinary person.

The boss looked at Wes, who remained calm and indifferent to the greedy pirates, and thought to himself.

"What would you like to ask, sir?" The boss's attitude became noticeably more respectful as he handed Wes a glass of rum.

"Jack Sparrow," Wes said slowly and deliberately, his voice clearly audible in the noisy tavern.

"Jack Sparrow? He's looking for the captain of the Black Pearl," a pirate exclaimed in surprise, his words like a pebble thrown into a calm lake, instantly creating ripples throughout the tavern.

The other pirates, upon hearing the familiar name, immediately became excited. They turned around, whispering among themselves, their voices rising and falling.

"That's a notorious pirate!" another pirate added excitedly.

They seemed to be talking about a legendary figure, someone they both feared and admired.

The pirates reminisced about the legends surrounding Jack Sparrow, his thrilling adventures, and his amazing feats.

At this moment, the tavern was filled with the strong aroma of rum, the smoke was thick, and the dim lights flickered, creating a mysterious and dangerous atmosphere.

"Looks like that guy's a big star." Wes's lips curled into a faint smile, his gaze fixed on the boss, as if silently conveying a sense of anticipation.

"You won't let me down, will you?"

His eyes were deep, revealing a power that could almost see into people's hearts.

The waves crashed against the shore with a thunderous roar, and the sea breeze, carrying the salty smell of the ocean, howled past, seemingly adding a touch of wildness to the tense atmosphere inside the tavern.

As Wes and the owner confronted each other, the noise in the tavern gradually subsided, and all eyes were focused on the two of them, waiting for the answer that was about to be revealed.

The boss wondered to himself why he was so interested in Jack Sparrow. He tried to figure out the true identity and intentions of this mysterious visitor.

Driven by the promise of gold coins, the boss decided to tell Wes some less important information.

Just as he was about to speak, two pirates staggered over.

One of the pirates, his face flushed and eyes gleaming with intoxication, gripped a flintlock pistol tightly in his hand, the muzzle pointed directly at Wes's forehead, exuding an aggressive aura.

The other pirate was even more audacious. He casually picked up a glass of rum from the bar, a smug smile playing on his lips, and loudly proclaimed, "What? Is this kind of liquor unworthy of a noble lord?"

"My name is Bucky, and I used to be on the Black Pearl." As soon as Bucky finished speaking with a hint of pride, the pirates in the tavern gasped in surprise.

At this moment, the tavern was like a noisy den.

The air was thick with the pungent, almost suffocating smell of rum, the stench of sweat emanating from the pirates, and the salty, fishy smell of the sea. The entire tavern seemed to have become a giant vat of pungent odors.

Bucky thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of being the center of attention. He slightly raised his chin, his eyes gleaming with excitement, and the muscles on his face twitched slightly with pride.

All eyes were on him, as if he had instantly become a significant and awe-inspiring figure.

"Hand over all your gold coins," Bucky let out a loud burp, the strong smell of alcohol instantly filling the air. He continued, his words laced with a hint of threat and greed, "and I might consider letting you go."

Wes couldn't be bothered to talk to such an utterly foolish guy. He simply waved his hand, a gesture that was both elegant and powerful.

The pirate who was pointing a gun at his head was struck by an invisible force and was instantly sent flying.

The pirate's body arced through the air before crashing heavily onto several tables, sending glasses and bottles tumbling to the ground with a crisp shattering sound.

The pirate landed and never stood up again. The surrounding pirates watched this scene in horror, not daring to breathe. Some stared wide-eyed, their faces full of disbelief, while others opened their mouths as if they could fit an egg in them.

"What's going on?" A pirate's voice trembled with fear, echoing through the tavern and causing a stir.

"What happened?!" another pirate shouted in panic, involuntarily taking a few steps back.

"A wizard!! He's a wizard!!" a well-informed pirate shouted, his voice filled with undisguised panic.

In the rumors, wizards were even more terrifying and evil than pirates.

The pirates in the tavern stood up in panic and scrambled to get as far away from Wes as possible, as if they had seen a demon from hell.

Wes used a petrification spell to immobilize Bucky. Bucky struggled desperately, his facial muscles contorted, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes filled with terror and despair, but he couldn't move an inch.

As Wes drew closer, Bucky was filled with regret. He had been cautious for most of his life, yet he had acted rashly because of a moment of drunkenness.

But now, it's all too late.

Wess's dark pupils were like deep vortexes, and Bucky's eyes instantly became lifeless, as if they had lost their souls.

Wes used Legilimency on Bucky, directly accessing Bucky's memories.

But to his disappointment, Bucky had indeed been a sailor on the Black Pearl, but he had long since left the ship and knew nothing of Jack Sparrow's whereabouts.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"A waste of time." Wes frowned slightly, turning his gaze to the tavern owner, his eyes filled with expectation and authority. "I've already been disappointed once."

The tavern owner was mentally cursing Bucky and his companion's ancestors for eighteen generations.

His face was pale, his forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat, and his body was trembling slightly. He forced an awkward smile and said:

"Of course I won't disappoint the esteemed wizard."

The boss dared not hide anything; he knew all too well that this mysterious wizard was someone he could not afford to offend.

He told Wes everything he knew about Jack Sparrow, hoping to appease the powerful wizard's displeasure.

Since defeating Davy Jones, Jack Sparrow has disappeared from the seas. Only a few people have seen him, but everyone believes that this restless fellow must be plotting something big.

While aboard the Black Pearl, Hector Barbossa encountered Edward Teach the Blackbeard at sea, was defeated and lost a leg, and had no choice but to join the British Royal Navy, becoming a legitimate sea raider.

"That's all I know," the boss said, almost swearing on his own mother, worried that Wes wouldn't believe him.

His eyes were filled with tension and unease, fearing that Wes would be dissatisfied with his information. His voice trembled slightly, "Really, Wizard, I wouldn't dare to lie to you."

"So it's this time," Wes thought, already knowing what era he had traveled to. "The Fountain of Youth?" he murmured to himself, seemingly contemplating some important decision.

Wes took out another gold coin and elegantly tossed it to the tavern owner.

"Your information is very useful. Here's compensation for the damaged tables and chairs," Wes said, getting up and leaving the tavern.

The pirates blocking his way quickly made way for him, afraid of angering the mysterious wizard.

The tavern owner looked at the two gold coins in his hand with a conflicted expression. He was afraid that they were cursed, but in the end, he couldn't bear to part with them and carefully put them into his pocket.

"Spend them quickly, even if there's a curse, transfer it to someone else." The tavern owner muttered to himself as he picked up the petrified Bucky and threw him onto the street.

Whether Bucky starves to death, is eaten by some animal, or survives until the petrification curse wears off depends on his own luck.
