Chapter 48 Invitation

The streets of London were unusually lively today, with the British Royal Guards visible everywhere. Dressed in bright uniforms, they marched in perfect unison, their muskets gleaming coldly in the sunlight, adding a touch of tension to the city.

The citizens were puzzled by this sudden change. They watched the soldiers hurrying by with curiosity or whispered among themselves about the unusual scene.

"It's finally here," Wes murmured to himself, then gently put down the newspaper in his hand.

Weiss followed quietly behind a squad of Royal Guards, his steps light and cautious, attracting almost no attention.

This group of royal soldiers, armed with muskets, stormed into the "Old Captain's Daughter's Tavern" with great momentum.

Inside the tavern, the pirates were making a ruckus, sharing their adventure stories, while the prostitutes giggled and seduced passing men with their alluring eyes.

However, the moment the royal soldiers stormed in, the entire tavern was thrown into chaos and panic, and the pirates and prostitutes inside were immediately thrown into a panic.

They had no idea why the Royal Guard would suddenly appear in this lawless area, a place that had always been their safe haven, a place where they could indulge themselves to the fullest.

Some pirates instinctively wanted to resist, frantically reaching for their weapons, but before they could make a move, several gunshots echoed through the tavern, and several pirates fell to the ground.

The sharp sound of gunfire echoed through the tavern, like a proclamation of death.

The remaining people scattered in panic, like frightened birds, searching for a way to escape.

The royal soldiers, however, seemed to know their target inside and out. They rushed into the inner rooms of the tavern without hesitation, clearly having come prepared.

Inside the room, Angelica and Jack Sparrow were surrounded by a group of Royal soldiers.

Faced with this sudden encirclement, Angelica tried to activate a hidden mechanism to escape, but she was horrified to find that she could not move, as if she were bound by an invisible force.

Moreover, all the royal soldiers were in the same predicament; they were as if they had been frozen in place, unable to move an inch.

"Honey, what's wrong with you?" Jack Sparrow asked with feigned concern, but inwardly he was rapidly plotting how to slip away unnoticed.

"Captain Sparrow," Wes said calmly as he entered the room, his voice steady and firm, "Nice to meet you."

"Who are you?" Jack Sparrow drew his sword warily. "Did you do this?"

"No need to be nervous." Wes calmly pulled up a chair and sat down, his movements elegant and confident, as if everything was under his control.

Jack Sparrow tries to take Angelica away, only to find that she seems to be rooted to the spot.

"Baby, this is not the time for jokes..."

Angelica could only keep giving Jack Sparrow meaningful glances, urging him to run away.

After confirming that Wes was behind it all, Jack Sparrow calmed down. He pinched his fingers together and looked Wes up and down, secretly trying to figure out the purpose and identity of this mysterious figure.

"You're a wizard??"

"Yes," Wes replied succinctly and forcefully.

"What does the mysterious wizard want with me?"

Jack Sparrow felt he couldn't lose to Wes in terms of momentum, so he also found a chair, sat down, crossed his legs, and looked nonchalant.

"Captain Sparrow."

"uh-huh."

Jack Sparrow was quite pleased with the title of Wes, and although he did not yet own a ship, he was convinced that he would eventually take command of the Black Pearl again.

"I need you to take me somewhere," Wes's voice echoed in the room.

Jack Sparrow raised an eyebrow slightly, as if he had already guessed Wes's intentions.

"The Fountain of Youth, I need you to take me to the Fountain of Youth."

"Oh my god, what day is it today? Why is everyone suddenly interested in the Fountain of Youth?" Jack Sparrow shook his head, a wry smile on his lips. "The news spreads faster than the plague."

"There are no secrets in this world that can be kept from me." Wes's tone revealed a hint of confidence, but then his expression turned somewhat awkward, because he realized that he did not know the exact location of the Fountain of Youth.

"Then how come you don't know where the Fountain of Youth is?" Jack Sparrow retorted.

Wes coughed awkwardly twice, trying to cover up his mistake.

"It seems the wizard isn't all-knowing after all." Jack Sparrow stroked his beard with his little finger, his eyes darting around as he pondered how to deal with Wes, this troublesome fellow.

He had no desire to work with Wes, this dangerous and mysterious fellow, knowing full well that such people often brought unexpected trouble.

"I can offer you compensation that will satisfy you."

Wes opened the suitcase, and a pile of gold bars, as tall as a person, flew out, instantly turning the dimly lit room into a dazzling golden light.

Everyone became greedy, their eyes fixed on the gold.

If they hadn't been frozen in place by the curse, they would have rushed forward long ago.

Jack Sparrow was no exception, but he quickly suppressed his greed, and his eyes regained their composure.

"You've got the wrong person. I don't know where the Fountain of Youth is. You've come to the wrong person..."

As he spoke, he walked towards the door. As for Angelica, he would find another opportunity to rescue her later. Right now, the most important thing was to save his own life.

"The Black Pearl".

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Jack Sparrow paused, his body stiffening slightly; the name held special significance for him.

"I can help you take back the Black Pearl."

Jack Sparrow sat back in his chair, leaning slightly forward, his hands clenched into fists. He said painfully, "The Black Pearl was destroyed by Blackbeard."

Wes shook his head: "It wasn't destroyed. The Black Pearl became Blackbeard's spoils of war."

"What evidence do you have?" Jack Sparrow looked at Wes suspiciously.

Instead of answering directly, Wes lifted the spell on Angelica, who then tried to use the mechanism to escape.

"Do not act rashly, madam."

Upon hearing Wes's warning, Angelica's hand, which had raised its sword, froze in mid-air. Although she was unwilling to accept defeat, she knew she was no match for Wes.

"This is between us, don't involve her."

Jack Sparrow stepped forward and stood in front of Angelica.

Angelica was so moved that she dropped her sword and hugged Jack Sparrow tightly around the waist.

"Didn't you want evidence? She's Blackbeard's daughter."

As soon as Wes finished speaking, Jack Sparrow turned around in shock and grabbed Angelica's shoulder tightly.

"You're hurting me, Jack," Angelica cried out in pain.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Jack Sparrow released his grip. "Is what he said true?"

Angelica nodded: "Although I don't know where he got the information, Father did indeed send the Black Pearl..." Angelica finished recounting the whole story in one breath.

"You mean the Black Pearl is currently trapped in a small bottle?" Jack Sparrow interrupted her, speaking urgently.

"Jack, if you help me find the Fountain of Youth, I'll have my father return the Black Pearl to you."

"Ha... Are you Blackbeard's biological daughter? How can you speak so naively?"

"Jack!!" Angelica exclaimed, enraged.

Jack Sparrow shrugged. "Blackbeard is the most ruthless and cunning pirate on the sea. I don't trust him."

"Captain Sparrow is right, and I was the one who extended the invitation first," Wes said, standing up.

"Don't waste your time, Captain Sparrow, give me an answer," Wes said in a tone that brooked no refusal.

If Jack Sparrow refuses Wes's invitation, he has an alternative: to steal the magical compass from Jack Sparrow.
