Chapter 68 Dumbledore is angry, and the consequences will be severe.
Wes had seen this scene in the movie, but he didn't expect that the actual number of Dementors was much greater than depicted in the film.
To the Dementors, the Quidditch pitch looked like a sweet and tempting cake; they hadn't eaten since leaving Azkaban.
The Ministry of Magic strictly forbids them from harming ordinary people, and guarding outside Hogwarts every day is like a cat scratching at their hearts. They desperately crave those positive emotions and energies, an irresistible temptation.
Finally, they couldn't hold back any longer.
On the field, Harry's eyesight was better than Cedric's, and he spotted the Golden Snitch first.
The small golden figure shimmered faintly in the rain, as if beckoning to Harry, while the Golden Snitch soared into the sky, evading Harry's capture.
Harry chased after him relentlessly, with only one thought in his mind: to win for Gryffindor.
He rode his flying broomstick, speeding through the rain, getting further and further away from the Quidditch field. Just as Harry was about to catch the Golden Snitch, a Dementor suddenly burst into his field of vision.
The terrifying figure stunned Harry instantly.
The Dementor's face was like a skull, its skin a greyish-white color, clinging tightly to its bones. Its eyes were two large, empty holes, gleaming with an eerie blue light. Its mouth was a gaping maw, devoid of lips, revealing jagged black teeth, and it emitted chilling hissing sounds from time to time.
Harry's mind went blank; he had no idea why Dementors were here. Suddenly, the Dementor opened its massive jaws, and a chilling aura swept over him, as if he were in an ice cellar.
Horrible images began to flood his mind, and the pain and fear of the past surged up, his consciousness gradually blurred, and everything in front of him became increasingly unclear.
Finally, Harry's eyes rolled back, he fainted, and he fell straight off the flying broomstick.
"Merlin's beard, Harry fell down!!" a sharp-eyed spectator shouted, his terrified voice eliciting gasps from the stands.
Some people have already spotted the Dementors near the stadium.
"Dementors!! Dementors have broken in!!" With this shout, everyone realized that hundreds of Dementors were floating around the stadium. Those terrifying figures swayed in the rain, exuding a terrifying aura, and the entire sky was shrouded in darkness.
Chaos erupted in the stands as people scattered in panic. Some students were so frightened they cried, clinging to each other, their bodies trembling, and the scene briefly spiraled out of control.
In this chaotic moment, Dumbledore reacted quickly. He waved his wand and immediately used a Shock-Stopping Charm to slow Harry's descent.
Harry's body slowly descended, finally landing safely on the ground. Just as Harry fell, Cedric caught the Golden Snitch.
He clutched the small golden figure tightly in his hand, but his face was filled with confusion. He didn't know what was happening; he only felt that everything around him had become chaotic.
Sirius Black was so worried when he saw Harry fall that he almost reverted to human form. Wes quickly reassured him, "Harry will be alright. Dumbledore has already taken care of things."
Sirius managed to maintain his Animagus form, but he immediately rushed onto the pitch, wanting to check on Harry's safety as soon as possible.
"Call upon the Divine Guard!!" Dumbledore's voice boomed like a bell throughout the Quidditch pitch, his beard and hair standing on end.
Wes had never seen him so angry, not even when he learned of Voldemort's return.
Dumbledore unleashed his full magical power, holding nothing back. A phoenix-shaped guardian spirit, radiating a holy silver light, enveloped the entire stadium, forming an unbreakable barrier that protected everyone present.
The Dementors screamed and fled the stadium, sensing the immense power of Dumbledore's Patronus Charm. However, some Dementors were still struck by the charm and severely wounded.
In an instant, the Dementors scattered and fled, like a flock of frightened birds, disappearing into the rain.
Nevertheless, Dumbledore's expression remained grim. "They have not followed the agreement and have crossed the line."
"Do you need my help?" Wes actually wanted to capture a few Dementors for research. These monsters usually stayed in Azkaban, working for the Ministry of Magic, making them difficult to deal with. This was a rare opportunity.
"No need. We can use this to put pressure on the Ministry of Magic and get them to clear Sirius's name." Dumbledore had a longer-term plan for this incident.
Wes was somewhat disappointed, having missed a good opportunity.
However, he also knew that there would be plenty of opportunities in the future.
Harry was taken to the school infirmary, where he lay quietly on the bed, pale-faced. Madam Poppy Pomfrey was giving Harry a thorough examination to make sure he hadn't suffered any more serious injuries.
Hufflepuff won the match, but Cedric, the good boy, felt it was an unfair victory and insisted on a rematch. He felt that winning under such circumstances was dishonorable and wanted to face Gryffindor again in a fair setting.
However, the Dementors' invasion dampened everyone's spirits. The match ended in disappointment; the appearance of the Dementors affected everyone's mood, and the previous enthusiasm and anticipation were gone.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
The following day, news of the Dementors' invasion of Hogwarts made the front pages of major newspapers. The striking headlines and shocking photographs stunned the entire wizarding world.
The Ministry of Magic was also under immense pressure due to the impact of this event.
The Ministry of Magic was receiving a deluge of complaint letters and shouting letters, nearly flooding Fudge's office. Fudge sat in his chair, staring at the mountain of letters, his face so grim it could drip water.
The Dementors' invasion not only threatened Hogwarts' safety but also severely damaged the Ministry of Magic's image. Under intense public protest and immense pressure, the Ministry was forced to order the recall of the Dementors.
These monsters were unwilling to accept defeat. They had originally thought they could have a feast at Hogwarts, but they did not expect to be met with Dumbledore's strong counterattack. They had no choice but to return to Azkaban to recover from their injuries and wait for the next opportunity.
Fudge sat in a chair, holding a handwritten letter from Dumbledore, the contents of which were giving him a headache.
"Overturning a case from over a decade ago isn't that easy. If Sirius Black is proven innocent, wouldn't that just show the Ministry of Magic's incompetence?"
Fudge grew increasingly frustrated. He never imagined that he, the Minister of Magic of Great Britain, would be at the mercy of others.
He didn't want to admit the Ministry of Magic's mistake, but he was also worried that Dumbledore would use this incident to oust him. At least for now, he couldn't afford to break ties with Dumbledore.
So Fudge began writing back to Dumbledore, trying to find a compromise solution. He hoped to gradually resolve Sirius Black's wrongful conviction without damaging the Ministry of Magic's reputation.
On the other side, Wes put down the book in his hand. After a long period of effort, he finally mastered all the books that Dumbledore had given him.
