Chapter 73 The Golden Book of the Sun

"I thought we were going to fight," Evelyn said quietly to the other three as she watched the American walk past.

"We're all in this for the money; there's no need to fight each other before we find the treasure." Jonathan seemed very experienced; he was used to this kind of situation. "We don't need to kill each other before we find the treasure."

"Be careful once you find the treasure. The Americans don't mind being robbers, after all, they have a lot of people and strength. We must always be vigilant and not let the Americans succeed."

Jonathan was well aware that greed could drive people to do incredibly crazy things when faced with profit.

O'Connor was covered in weapons. He skillfully arranged them and then handed a pistol to each of Wes, Evelyn, and Jonathan.

Evelyn tried to refuse, but O'Connor shoved the gun into her hand: "Trust me, you'll definitely need it. In a place like this, weapons are essential for self-defense."

Evelyn then took the pistol. Although she wasn't good with weapons, she knew it might save her life in a critical moment.

Wes did not reach out to take the pistol, but simply waved his hand to indicate that he did not need it.

Upon entering Hamunaptra, Wes sensed that he was enveloped by a power identical to that of the Megade warriors.

This force seems to be integrated with the land, permeating the entire ancient city and inspiring awe.

This place is protected by the Egyptian gods, so why were tomb raiders able to enter so easily?

Are the eyes of the Egyptian gods still fixed on this land?

Do they...?

Wes felt that everything here was full of unknowns, and that some supernatural force was protecting this ancient city.

Meanwhile, O'Connor led the group to the spot where he had been attacked by Sandface, which had become a crater with broken stones scattered around its edges.

"You really saw that sand face??" Jonathan still didn't believe O'Connor, thinking he must have been seeing things. He fiddled with the rocks at the edge of the pit, looking at O'Connor with a suspicious expression.

O'Connor recalled the scene with some skepticism. "I'm not sure, maybe I saw it wrong."

"This is a statue of Anubis, the god of death," Evelyn exclaimed excitedly, as if she had discovered a new continent, carefully touching the surface of the statue with her fingers. "The legendary Book of the Sun is buried here."

"How much is that worth??" Jonathan's eyes lit up. He only cared about money; the value of an artifact lay solely in how much wealth it could bring in.

He looked at the fragments of the statue in Evelyn's hand, seemingly already plotting how to monetize them.

"If we can find it, we'll be rich!" Jonathan was very excited, his eyes seemingly already seeing mountains of gold coins and jewels.

"That's priceless!" Evelyn's tone carried a scholarly reverence. "It's not just an artifact, but a testament to human history."

"Then what are we waiting for? I can't wait any longer." Jonathan tied the rope to the rock and was about to lower himself down. He seemed impatient and didn't want to waste a single moment.

The Golden Book of the Sun is Wes's target for this trip, and he won't let it slip by.

They soon arrived deep inside the underground palace, where they encountered the group of Americans and nearly got into a fight with them.

Fortunately, the sharp-eyed Evelyn noticed that this was not the cubicle they were looking for. Then, under her guidance, they avoided the Americans and arrived at the cubicle right under Death's feet.

Evelyn pointed to a spot above the cubicle and said with certainty, "This is where the Sun Sutra is buried."

Upon seeing the ground, Wes stopped pretending and immediately cast a powerful spell.

With a loud "bang," the soil above was blown open, and a coffin fell down.

"." Wes brushed the dust off the coffin, and Evelyn, O'Connor, and Jonathan were all stunned by Wes's actions.

"This is not the Book of the Sun, but the coffin of the high priest. The Book of the Sun was not buried inside the statue of the god of death, but inside the statue of the sun god."

Upon arriving here, Wes immediately recalled this part of the plot, and before the three could react, he rushed out of the tunnel.

"Did you see that? He just pointed at the top layer of soil and it exploded." Jonathan stammered, his expression unnatural. "How is that possible? Who is he?"

"Maybe it's because it's been too long and the soil here is a bit loose?" Evelyn tried to give a reasonable explanation, but she didn't even believe her own words. What a coincidence!

"This guy is definitely not simple. He must know something." O'Connor stared at the spot where Wes had left. He no longer just suspected Wes's identity, but was quite certain that this man had a lot of problems.

Weiss quickly found the statue of the sun god, ignoring the mountains of gold piled around it. After searching carefully, he indeed discovered the Book of the Sun.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Just as its name suggests, the Sun Sutra is entirely made of dazzling gold.

Wes stroked the precious ancient book with his hand. It was not made of ordinary paper, but rather crafted from various rare materials, and it contained a wealth of valuable knowledge and ancient magic.

Wes suddenly felt uneasy, vaguely sensing that someone was watching him.

Wes immediately took a step back, his wand already gripped in his hand. He carefully observed his surroundings again, but found no one, only the statue of the sun god Ra standing there silently.

"Is it the sun god?" Wes stared at the statue, not noticing anything unusual, but he trusted his intuition.

He surmised that the Egyptian gods still watched over this land, but for various reasons could not directly intervene in the affairs of ordinary people; otherwise, Egypt would not have become a British colony.

Having figured this out, Weiss carefully put away the Book of the Sun, bowed to the statue of the sun god, and said, "Thank you for your gift." Then he turned and left the underground palace.

When Wes returned to the ground, it was already night, and several campfires were lit on the ground, dispelling the darkness.

"Wes, you're finally back."

Before Wes could answer, Jonathan by the campfire began to complain loudly again, sighing frequently.

"We dug up a coffin and found nothing else. This is a huge loss." He was annoyed by his bad luck and continued, "We put in so much effort and got nothing."
