Paying The Price

Chapter 12 - It's Not Like You Care Anyway.

Diana must have goon to Denn City on purpose, somewhere within his domain, probably testing his care for his family. But he failed the test woefully.

Clearly showing that he was a failure as a husband and a father.

He always felt he could never make her happy, so being apart from him was a break she needed. Wayne had the intention of getting her back after five years, who knew she would be one year early, deducing that he would never had come for his family.

Diana saw Wayne as cold and non-chalant, but she wasn't sure to what extent he was. During their one year of marriage, he gradually proved to her with his actions that he was unconcerned about everything except work.

As a orphan, Diana undoubtably yearned for a home filled with joy and love, the one she once had but lost. Unfortunately for her, Wayne was the exact opposite of her d.e.s.i.r.es.

His house was a dungeon to her filled with infelicity and hostility.

Wayne answered the known caller.

"Hey! What was wrong with Lake land's plans, I thought you liked it." Leon Daniel asked. "Or does it have something to do with Diana, I heard she back?" Leon added.

Leon and Gabriel were close friends of Wayne. Their families had long been acquainted with one another for years. Wayne and Leon were both famous in the underworld, while Gabriel and Wayne had dealings with the secret government.

Leon had casually checked on the online list of application for the positions of a secretary and receptionist, when he stumbled on Nikki's application for the position of a secretary. Nikki's application for a job in D.E.L's Titan city branch would only mean she was moving back but if Diana was coming along, Leon wasn't sure.

Wayne's recent attitude towards the Lake land's project could be connected to his issues with Diana, so Leon posed the question.

"Are you just finding out?" The Lake land's project plan was rejected by him this morning, Leon couldn't have just found out.

"I contacted Felix first, he said he wasn't there and that you had a family dinner probably with Diana, I didn't want to interfere so I waited till now." Leon replied.

"How are you sure we were done?"

"Dude she a mother she wouldn't stay till 11 pm, simple things you should be aware of."

Wayne frowned slightly at Leon's statement, he wasn't a father and he knew about this fact, him on the other hand...

Leon read Wayne's mind as he was silent. "Hey, it's not that I expect you to know, you don't care anyway..."

Who said he didn't care.

He wasn't going to hear another scrutinizing remark about his failure as a family head.
