Paying The Price

"Yeah, she looks like her mother." Ronin could clearly see Diana's features in Pearl. "Mmm, she still looks like Wayne, I mean look at her eyes, aren't they beautiful." Kayla pointed out.

"Let me take a look." Owen reached out to take the phone. "She really is pretty, just like her mother. Oh! and you too honey." He complimented his wife.

"Give me that, what are you all blabbing about." Gwen snatched the phone from her son. She was left speechless as she saw the cute little sugar in the photo, her neatly tied bun was slightly messy, her fair skin was radiant like the sun, her big blue eyes shone like the full moon. She had a cute smile on her face, her posture though playful was elegant, she no doubt looked like a princess, a

dignified princess.

Gwen instinctively passed the phone to the next person, she didn't want to take a look anymore, for she feared the little girl could change her mind. Wayne who was next to her, took the phone. 'She does look like her mother.' He though, no one knew how long he stared intently at the photo, but it didn't look like he was planning to stop.

"I invited her for dinner tomorrow, she'll be here with her daughter." Evelyn spoke up. Wayne raised his head up, finally breaking free from his thoughts.

"Seriously, she's coming, ho, am so excited to see my little niece. I'll have to go shopping for her. What would she like? What would she like!?"

"Anything you'll like, since you never grew up." Ronin said sarcastically.

"Hey! shut up would you."

Edna remained silent, after looking at Pearl's photos she was remained silent, she could only move uncomfortably on her chair. Wayne wasn't sure how he should feel, should he be happy or not. 'What would my daughter think of me?' Flooded his mind.

"We all have to show up for dinner then tomorrow night." Although Owen used the word 'all' he was speaking to Wayne and Ronin. They both resided in Green villa, only after much prompting and nagging would they occasionally come for dinner, on such events like this, they would agree to eat dinner together after some 2 to 3 months absence.

"Of course we'll come, we all want to see Diana and her daughter." Ronin remarked

"I'll be heading home." Wayne for the first time said something. He passed the phone back to Evelyn and turned without saying a word. After watching his silhouette disappear, "I'll be going too, goodnight." Ronin ran to catch up with Wayne.

Wayne sat in the drivers seat of his black Rolls Royce, taking a deep breath, he pulled out his phone, observing the little girl in the photo he felt a knot tighten in his heart.

Ronin taped the window of the front passengers seat, indicating for him to open the door. Ronin was yet to sit. "You'll accompany me to inspect the Lake land project." Wayne ordered.

"But, but..." Ronin tried to protest but Wayne's cold gaze stopped him. Leaning back on the seat while folding his hands, Ronin could only grumble as they existed the villa.

Ronin was the head of Grand entertainment industry, so projects like this had no relations with him. But his brother always had the final say.

At the same time in the Lineman's residence.

"She's back?!" Fiona exclaimed.

"Calm down my dear, you're screaming at the top of your voice." Pamela hushed her daughter."

"What would we do now?" Fiona asked in a quiet tone.

"I thought about it, and it's a good thing she's back, being part getting them to divorce was impossible, now, we got to play our cards well."

Pamela pulled her daughter closer, while c.a.r.e.s.sing her face, she said "The Mrs Grand position is rightfully yours and no one can take it away from you my dear."

"You're right, no one! not even that lowlife."Fiona felt energized by her mother's assuring words.

The next morning

Diana had an appointment with Hailey's parents before resuming work the next day, Nikki was preparing for a job interview at D.E.L, a company owned by the Daniels.

After breakfast, Diana and Pearl left with Hailey to her parents' shop, while Nikki headed for the company.

In a BMW, the driver kept murmuring, at the back seat, a man with a stiff suit focused on his laptop as he fervently worked on it.

Ronin caught sight of a familiar silhouette. Nikki was patiently waiting to cross the road, immediately the traffic light turned red indicating for pedestrians to cross, she made her way to the other side.

Ronin stepped on the accelerator, then on the brakes, a few inches from Nikki. He observed Wayne from the rearview mirror, whose composure was calm as ever as he focused on his laptop.

"Why you half breeded monkey, son of a gun. Did you get your driving license from the jungle? Come out and I'll teach you how to drive." Nikki flared up.
