The euphoric booster has worked.
The latest version of the euphoric agent helps people amplify the positive emotions they still have, while the other crucible contains the corresponding antidote.
However, the cost of enhancing pleasure is currently high, the production process is complicated, and there are also unavoidable drawbacks—the weakness period and the sensitive period—none of which have been resolved.
As mentioned earlier, it amplifies the positive emotions hidden within a wizard. But at the same time, it also eliminates the negative emotions within a wizard.
This is good for ordinary wizards, but for dark wizards it's like a period of weakness. For example, if a dark wizard drinks it, they might find themselves unable to use the Cruciatus Curse effectively during its effects.
After the "weakness period" comes the "sensitive period." Just as the ever-rational Prarese subconsciously rejects malice, the positive emotions brought on by the euphoric drug will continue to resist the re-attack of negative emotions after the drug's effects wear off.
It might sound like euphoria wouldn't do Death Eaters any good, but that's not actually the case.
For wizards who have been severely or excessively consumed by Dementors, this negative effect is far outweighed by the benefits they gain from regaining their sanity.
As long as they aren't completely drained like Barty Crouch Jr., the euphoric booster can pull them back from the brink of madness, at the cost of only the duration of its effects and the subsequent side effects.
This is yet another brilliant invention and improvement, enough to make Prares famous once again.
Praris looked down at it and clicked his tongue.
"What a pity."
Praris poured all the potions into a bottle, then gestured the distance and placed the bottle next to another cauldron—in which a milky white neutralizer was being boiled.
Knock knock knock!
“Who?” Praris shouted.
A short, deep voice rang out: "Amicus Carlo."
"Professor Carlo?" Praris asked, feigning surprise. "Is there something you need? I'm at a crucial moment here!"
"Ahem!" Amicus coughed from outside the door. "It's urgent, come in and talk!"
Praris took out his wand and waved it gently, and the door to the abandoned classroom opened.
The two siblings, Carlo and his sister, entered the room. Amicus glanced around the classroom and immediately noticed the bottle containing the golden-dust-like potion and the cauldron boiling the milky-white potion in front of Praris.
"How did it go?" Amicus asked eagerly, "Did you make what the Dark Lord wanted?"
Praris frowned, gave Amicus a strange look, then looked down at the cauldron and potion bottle, writing something with a quill: "Pretty much, with a minor flaw, but the merits outweigh the flaws. The neutralizer—that is, the antidote—is still boiling."
"Amicus," who was actually Nawi, who had drunk the compound decoction, was greatly alarmed.
When Praris suddenly agreed to their demands and then urged them to act quickly, Neville knew something terrible was about to happen. But he didn't expect Praris to actually succeed!
Neville truly couldn't understand why Praris would not only try so hard to do it and make it happen, but also end up cooperating with their sabotage.
But the details don't matter; maybe Voldemort forced her to finish quickly! As long as she can thwart Voldemort's goal, that's something DA will do at all costs.
“Professor Carlo,” Praris couldn’t help but ask, “what exactly are you here for—”
Suddenly, "Amicus," who was standing not far away, raised his hand. Praris reacted quickly and subconsciously unleashed an Ironclad Spell.
But instead of raising his wand to attack her, "Amycus" quickly threw a silver, mysterious object, which landed with a thud in the neutralizer's crucible.
The next second, bang!
The explosion happened in an instant, and the destructive power of the silver object was astonishing. The crucible was blown apart, and the table was shattered into pieces.
The Ironclad Charm could protect against physical attacks, but Praris was too close to the cauldron! She quickly ducked to the side, using her arm to shield her vitals, but was still thrown back by the blast wave.
Neville, who threw out the small silver-gray piece, was stunned by its power. Fortunately, Ginny grabbed him and pulled him down to avoid being hit by the blast wave.
"Run!" Ginny grabbed Neville without hesitation and ran. "If we don't go now, we won't be able to escape!"
The loud noise of the explosion must have already been heard; they must leave the scene immediately!
Ginny and Neville ran out without looking back, only to see Seamus and Ernie fighting and retreating not far away—the Slytherin students had come running after hearing the commotion!
"Professor Carlo, grab them!" Gore shouted at the top of his lungs.
Crabbe glared at Goyle: "Idiot, that's not Professor Carlo!"
Ginny raised her wand and cast the Bat Charm, swarming bats onto the Slytherins' faces, blocking their view.
She shouted to Simon and the others, "Run!"
"All curses end!"
It was Astoria who used this spell.
Normally, the "All Curses End" spell requires multiple wizards to cast together for better results. However, the underground corridor is narrow, and the area affected by the bat spirit curse is not very wide, so it doesn't require the strength of so many people.
The Bat Spirit Curse is an area-of-effect spell, and the Curse Stop can't save multiple people at once, so Astoria used the Curse of Annihilation alone as an emergency measure.
After learning the spell from Praris, this was Astoria's first time using "All Curses End," and she wasn't even sure if she could use it well.
Astoria stared intently at her trapped classmates, but her heart was filled with worry for Praris's condition.
Under the effect of "All Curses End," all the bats Ginny summoned scattered, and the Slytherins gave chase again.
Astoria stood still, letting the other Slytherins pass her. She swallowed hard, glanced at the departing crowd, took two steps back, and without hesitation turned and ran towards the abandoned classroom.
Whether or not we catch DA is not important at all.
Praris is the one she truly cares about.
Astoria practically sprinted open the half-closed classroom door, and the scene behind it made her eyes widen: the table in the middle of the classroom was blown in two, a blackened mess. Potion bottles on the table were either exploded or blown away, shards of which were scattered all over the floor. Behind the table lay Praris lying on the ground.
"Praris!"
Astoria felt dizzy and instinctively ran to her half-teacher. She lost her balance and fell to the ground before she could reach Praris, scrambling to her feet to reach him.
As she trembled as she turned Praris over, she found him with his eyes open, calmly asking in a breathy voice, "Lia, is it just you?"
"Ah!" Astoria was startled, then immediately whispered with relief, "Yes, it's just me. Thank goodness, you're alright! Let's go to the school clinic quickly..."
“Hiss—keep it down!” Praris’s lips were pale as she commanded Astoria, “Now, knock me unconscious, and don’t leave any other traces.”
"Why...why?" Astoria asked, but without hesitation carried out Praris's request and raised her wand.
"How can you ask for leave and not work if you're not going to focus on the important stuff?" Praris frowned. "Stop talking nonsense! Hurry up!"
Astoria vaguely understood. Praris was using the DA's sabotage to achieve some kind of goal of his own.
She pointed at Praris: "He collapsed unconscious."
After knocking Praris unconscious, Astoria quickly put away her wand and ran out to call for help—she couldn't move Praris by herself.
As the little girl ran, she wondered a little bewildered: Could this be considered the first time she had hit Praris?
After Ginny called out, the four of them sped off. The DA's original plan was to run to the Hufflepuff common room, where the kind and loyal badgers would risk hiding them all.
But who would have thought that Slytherin girl would know how to use the Curse of Death! What normal parent or professor would teach such a grown witch to use such a spell? Ginny hadn't even learned the Curse of Death yet!
The four had to split into two groups. Ernie, who knew the route well, led the weaker Seamus towards the Hufflepuff common room, while Neville and Ginny, who were stronger, chose another route and lured most of the people away.
“Ginny!” Neville gasped, his breath coming in short gasps. “Alecto Caro is here! You go first, I'll cover your retreat!”
Ginny refused without hesitation: "Dream on! Gryffindor has never abandoned its companions!"
"Ginny, the DA needs someone to stabilize morale. We can't both get captured!"
"I've already taken the antidote!" Ginny refused. "I'll stay!"
“I’ve had my drink too! If this drags on any longer, we won’t be able to escape!” Neville gritted his teeth and said resolutely, “If you don’t leave, I’m stopping right now!”
“You—okay!” Ginny had no choice but to agree.
Neville slowed down, turning back to attack the "pursuers" behind him with his wand.
Ginny, utilizing her Quidditch athlete's physical abilities, sprinted away at an even faster speed than before—she had to get away and couldn't let Neville's "sacrifice" go to waste.
On the other hand, the "savior" Astoria found was Draco.
"Malfoy, can you move it?" Astoria looked at her pale and thin senior with concern and couldn't help but ask, "Otherwise, I'll call Aiden."
Draco said coldly, "Enough with the nonsense!"
Astoria rolled her eyes inwardly.
Alright! One says "Stop talking nonsense," and the other says "Enough with the nonsense," you two are truly a match made in heaven!
Standing in front of Praris, Draco immediately knelt on one knee to pick her up. He was about to unbutton his shirt cuffs and roll up his sleeves to make it easier to lift Praris when he stopped at his left sleeve.
Draco closed his eyes, silently withdrew his hand from unbuttoning his sleeve, swiftly picked up Praris, pressed her head against his chest, and strode out.
Prares injured?
This was something Draco could hardly imagine.
Prareas had already told Draco about her upcoming actions, and Draco had been prepared for it, but seeing it with one's own eyes and imagining it are two different things.
The moment Draco saw Praris, he wanted to slap himself, blaming himself for not stopping her earlier and for giving in to her words so easily.
But such thoughts dissipated somewhat the moment he failed to unbutton his sleeves. His concession was, in essence, a manifestation of his powerlessness.
Praris was not one to be a servant; her pride manifested itself in another form.
Draco couldn't stop her from doing it no matter what he did; the only thing he could do was rush to her as soon as he heard she was injured and take her to the school infirmary for treatment.
School clinic.
A group of people stood around Praris's bed, each with their hands in front of them, making it look like a scene of death mourning.
Standing at Prarese's bedside were Mrs. Pomfrey and Nurse Barney. Barron looked down at Prarese, his heart filled with both worry and tension.
Snape broke the silence first, asking in a somber tone, "Mrs. Pomfrey, when will Miss Prarese wake up?"
Mrs. Pomfrey said in a businesslike manner, "Headmaster Snape, this is a coma caused by the explosion. He won't be out of commission until noon tomorrow at the earliest."
"After she woke up... her burns were quite severe, especially on her hands and back, and it will take some time to heal. Her hands were also injured, with fractures and lacerations, and she needs to take bone-strengthening medicine for a period of time. She cannot perform delicate operations for a short period of time."
As soon as Madam Pomfrey finished speaking, not only did Snape's face turn ugly, but the expressions on the faces of the Caro siblings were as heartbreaking as if their own parents were lying in bed.
Regardless of how the siblings try to deny or shift the blame for this accident, they bear undeniable responsibility.
Prior to this, Praris had warned them several times about safety issues, and there was also the previous incident where herbs were burned. Now, this has happened again!
Secondly, the wizard who attacked Praris was disguised as the siblings to gain entry into the abandoned classroom—so many Slytherins saw it all!
After the incident, Slytherin students arrived at the scene before them, and Prader was carried to the infirmary by Draco.
Mrs. Pomfrey's diagnosis was a devastating blow, leaving them both dizzy and disoriented!
“There’s nothing wrong, none of you need to crowd around here!” Mrs. Pomfrey said sternly. “Let the patient rest properly!”
