She gasped, then recognized an old acquaintance: "Oh, Granger, it's you. Be careful."
"Prince! Sorry, I'm in a hurry to get to class!" With that, Granger ran off like the wind.
Prarese nodded with a sigh. Professor Snape's advice did make some sense; dropping some courses was necessary. Otherwise, she'd be as busy as Granger right now.
Praris turned around unsteadily, wanting to continue walking forward.
She hadn't gone two steps when she realized Granger had interrupted her and that she was going the wrong way, so she turned back. Then, to her astonishment, she saw Granger coming up from downstairs again.
what?
Because Prarese took two extra steps, Granger didn't see her this time and hurriedly ran upstairs.
Praris rubbed her eyes, unable to believe what she was seeing. She held her head with one hand and gasped.
She recalled something Draco had said at the beginning of the semester: "You've been using your brain too much, isn't it?!"
The staircases at Hogwarts are movable and follow a set pattern. Unless she's completely out of her mind, there's no way Granger could go up one staircase and then come back down at the same spot a minute later.
If an ordinary person were standing here, they would probably doubt their own sanity or be seeing things. But standing here is Praris Prince, a witch who has lived her entire life with her brain.
Making her accept that she's mentally unstable is equivalent to making Daphne accept that she's a Squib. Therefore, it's absolutely not that there's something wrong with her brain; the problem must lie with Granger as a person.
She quickly convinced herself that this was likely the reason Granger was able to make conflict-based course selections.
She'd heard that Japanese wizards possessed the magic of creating clones, but Prareas believed that while it was possible for a person to create clones, a clone couldn't replicate a wand. Based on this characteristic of the wand, she quickly concluded that the first Granger was the second Granger.
Without a doubt, they are the same person.
What method can be used to make the same person appear in two places at the same time?
Praris had, in fact, suspected the escaped convict Sirius. Was it possible that he could impersonate someone else and slip away, given his ability to escape the Dementors-guarded Azkaban prison?
This is an interesting idea, but Dementors don't have eyes; instead, they monitor prisoners by sensing the emotions and mental states of others.
Even if Sirius Black could become a Ministry of Magic official, after so many years in Azkaban, he couldn't possibly fake the physical and mental state of a healthy person. Unless he had an outside help, finding someone with the same physical condition to switch him out.
Furthermore, since everyone's wand is unique, she quickly ruled out that possibility.
In this world, everything exists within a spacetime woven from time and space. If it's confirmed that the two Grangers are indeed the same Granger, then the problems that arise with her can only be explained by changes in time and space.
Either she teleported, causing a spatial shift, or she manipulated the timeline, allowing her present self to intervene in a past timeline that had already occurred.
Praris blinked, then turned and headed back to the library. This took up a lot of her time; she spent it all in the library, reading, researching, and satisfying her damned curiosity.
She should have been resting, or doing something else worthwhile. Although she had finished all her homework, she still had her research on wolfsbane medicine, which was stalled, and the ever-refreshing "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Chapter 49 A Little Disappointment
Speaking of this, Praris still couldn't understand it: they only took the "Protecting Magical Creatures" class in third grade, but they bought this book in first grade. Why was that? And why didn't they even need the book when they took the class in third grade!
However, compared to *The Book of Monsters*, *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them* was more substantial and safer to use. It was in this book that Pralis encountered the Bowtruckle, a magical creature. Although she later learned it was classified as a Class XX after consulting the Ministry of Magic's security classification system.
Having a very quick mind isn't always a good thing. Prarese often finds herself unconsciously diverting some of her energy from one problem to another while she's thinking about another, even though her primary focus is still on absorbing a vast amount of knowledge.
Such distractions often begin with phrases like "Speaking of which," "Speaking of which," "Actually," "Also," or "In addition."
If the problem lies in space, the only thing Praris can suspect is Apparition. Barney, the house-elf in the kitchen, can Apparate; it's a natural ability of house-elves, and they don't even need wands.
But this brings us to another matter: there are places in the world where Apparition cannot be used, including Azkaban, Nurmengard, and Hogwarts.
Praris blinked as he thought about this, not understanding why his alma mater was listed alongside two of Europe's most famous prisons here.
This sounds like it's saying that schools are prisons and students are incarcerated. But it really isn't that different; for example, their school even has prison guards—Dementors.
Another reason she ruled out Apparition was that learning the spell required being seventeen years old, a requirement Hermione clearly did not meet.
Since that's the case, all possibilities boil down to time. So she found a magical item: a Time-Turner, a magical item strictly controlled by the Ministry of Magic, capable of time travel.
Upon seeing this magical item, Praris couldn't help but wonder: if a wizard used a time-tamper to kill his mother before she gave birth to him, then that wizard would cease to exist. But if that wizard didn't exist, who would travel through time to kill his mother? And how could his mother have died?
Let me repeat myself: having an overly active mind isn't always a good thing.
Fortunately, the Time Converter does not cause this problem. Without causing any damage to the traveler or time, the Time Converter can only allow the wizard to travel for a maximum of five hours.
In other words, if a wizard planned to travel back in time to before his birth to kill his mother, he would most likely be too weak after the time travel to actually kill her. This would render the paradox invalid.
But there are still too many aspects of the time-twister that Praris cannot understand. Like love, it is inexplicable, yet it truly exists and often produces unexpected results.
Dumbledore thought so too.
Hagrid's situation caused him some minor annoyances, though it was insignificant compared to most of the things that happened to him, it did create some trouble.
But the world isn't always on the other side of the coin; we always see some other good news, don't we?
Dumbledore received a gift from Sylvanas Kettleburn, the retired teacher of the Conservation of Magical Creatures class. He was furious and worried about Hagrid after learning about Buckbeak's situation.
So he sent Dumbledore a gift, hoping that Dumbledore could pass it on to Hagrid to comfort his wounded heart.
The gift was eventually given to Dumbledore by Hagrid—Hagrid felt sad and guilty for causing Dumbledore trouble again. Of course, the main reason was that Dumbledore couldn't understand the book at all, so giving it to him was useless.
Dumbledore looked at the book with a smile. It was clean but also old; the words on the cover were no longer legible. The book was filled with warm and kind words, brimming with a devout love for the world.
Kettleburn replied that the book had been given to him two years ago by a Slytherin girl. She said it was the only precious thing she owned, and she wanted to trade it for the bird-snake feather.
"What use would I have for a book? I must admit, I can hardly read anything! But she said she wanted to make a gift out of feathers to apologize to her classmates—a dreamcatcher that would give them sweet dreams. Merlin! I think bird-snake feathers are perfect for that kind of thing! She's such a lovely child."
"I don't remember her name. I can definitely remember the names of magical creatures, but I really can't remember people's names. But I remember that the ink on the second page seems to be the initials of her name."
Dumbledore turned to the second page and saw the two letters "PP".
This was the only thing that had made him happy this semester. The little girl from the Severus family, besides her amazing talent, also possessed a tender love for the world.
Of the four houses, Dumbledore was most worried about Slytherin. Voldemort's emergence caused a gap in Slytherin's lineage, leaving behind many historical problems.
That night, Prader and Hermione resumed their correspondence, with Hermione writing to her again. When the clever girl realized they couldn't agree on the House issue, she chose to skip the topic.
Stella is right. There are no friends who are completely like-minded. More often than not, it's about finding common ground while respecting differences.
Praris asked about the time converter, reminding her: "You should know that even though you used the time converter, time doesn't stand still for you; it still flows. Of course, you're still young and don't care about that now."
Hermione's handwriting was initially a little flustered: Oh, I knew it. Once things happen in the light, there's nowhere for you to hide. But I promised Professor McGonagall I wouldn't tell anyone... Of course, I'll only use it in class. I hope you won't tell anyone else.
Prarese agreed, and then the two shared their recent reading lists.
Hogwarts' breakfast today included omelets, which were soft, tender, and sweet, and there was a huge portion of them. Praris seriously suspected that the house-elves had lavishly cracked seven or eight eggs into each omelet.
Just as she was happily enjoying her omelet, Millison couldn't help but ask, "Play, didn't you drop two classes? Why do I feel like you're even less visible than before?"
Draco said sarcastically, "You're too naive, Burst. On the contrary, if she's in class, at least you'll see her there. If she's not in class and is busy with her own things, then you really won't find her anywhere!"
“That’s very true, Draco. It’s a pity I’m not a professor, so I can’t give Slytherin a perfect 10,” Praris said with a smile and a shrug.
Based on what Prareas had said before, shrugging often occurs when someone is lying. Yes, Prareas has no regrets; she's simply taking advantage of Draco by using the teachers' tone.
Draco was annoyed and decided to change the subject.
His two recent obsessions are talking badly about Professor Lupin, loudly mocking him for being a penniless slacker, and the itinerary in Hogsmeade Village.
Praliss wasn't interested in either of these topics. First, she had already gotten her revenge on Lupin in her own way, and besides, she was a penniless woman herself. Second, she couldn't possibly go to Hogsmeade Village.
Honestly, how does this guy always manage to unconsciously hit Praris's sore spots?
Daphne said, "Draco is right, we can go to Hogsmeade before Halloween. I plan to go to Elegance Wizarding Clothing to buy some new clothes. I heard their wool socks are pretty good."
“Play, let’s go to Honey Duke! I want to eat coconut ice cream!” Milison said happily to Praris.
Praris shook his head: "I probably won't go to Hogsmeade."
"Why?!" Pansy and Milison asked at the same time.
Praris told the truth: "I can't go to Hogsmeade without an autograph. You know, the professor would never go easy on me in something like this."
The girls fell silent, but Draco started offering terrible ideas: "How about forging a signature? The professor won't know if your parents signed it or not. I'd be happy to be your parent!"
Praris glared at him: "Be my parent? Keep dreaming! Don't even think about it, there's no way to fake it, the professor knows exactly what's going on with me."
Praliss was introduced to the wizarding world by Professor Snape. He knew perfectly well that she hadn't returned to the monastery during the summer vacation, let alone sent a letter to Father Dorian by owl, so naturally she couldn't get Father Dorian's permission.
Even Father Dorian doesn't know that she became a witch, so naturally he wouldn't know what Hogsmeade is.
Praris rested his chin on his hand and said slowly, "It's fine, I'm happy to stay at Hogwarts! Have fun, and bring me back some local specialties, I'll be very happy."
Millison looked at her with eyes full of tenderness, lost in thought, and said in a sticky, whiny voice, "Play—I'll bring you snacks! Candy, desserts... I'll bring a big bag!"
“Mirison! Are you planning to go buy some stock?” Pansy mocked her.
Millison patted his chest proudly and said, "Just wait, Pry, I'll make it all the same whether you go to Hogsmeade or not!"
"Stop, stop!" Praris probably didn't realize how gentle her expression was. "Just bring me one of each of your favorites to try."
Draco, seeing her gentle expression, hurriedly changed the subject: "Oh yes, Halloween is coming soon, there will definitely be a lot of new candies. Speaking of Halloween, how about we make a bet? I think something big will happen this Halloween."
“Why do you think something big is going to happen, Draco?” Pansy asked, playing along perfectly.
Milison said lightly, "What else could it be? Our Miss Praris has already figured out the pattern: first-year trolls, second-year escape rooms, and third-year students will definitely come up with something new. It's not worth betting on; there's nothing new!"
"But what else can happen to us this year?"
Pansy couldn't believe it. "We were surrounded by Dementors, and nothing could get in!" she said.
Goyle laughed heartily: "Who knows? Maybe Potter is going to Hogsmeade and then gets scared unconscious by Dementors on the way!"
Draco, still enjoying himself, started imitating Potter pretending to be unconscious, making Pansy laugh out loud.
Praris frowned. This guy was too childish. It's been so long since school started, and he still hasn't had enough fun?
On Halloween Eve, Remus Lupin left the door open, waiting for Snape's arrival. Yes, the full moon was approaching again.
Returning to Hogwarts was a good thing for him, as Hogwarts held some of the happiest moments of his life, despite the many shadows that followed.
Or rather, from the moment he became a werewolf, his life was often filled with gloom and rain.
He easily remembered the Slytherin girl; her last name was Prince, the same last name as one of Lupin's former Gryffindor classmates. She had surprised him quite a bit on her first day of class.
Perhaps, there are also hidden expectations.
The moment Boggart transformed into the moon, Lupin thought it had mistaken him for someone else and tried to finish it off. But Prince turned it into a pile of crushed candy.
This isn't his Bogut, it's Prince's.
As a werewolf, no one understood better than Lupin what the Boggart represented as the moon. Why would a normal teenager be afraid of the moon?
This girl, though rather thin and with fair skin, had a light red hue on her face and lips. When she argued with her classmate Malfoy, her voice was full of energy and she showed no weakness whatsoever.
Is this possible? A werewolf, free from the torment of transformation, learning and living a healthy life.
