Chapter Forty-Six: The Wandering God

“Leona Crepeus.” A soft female voice echoed in Leona’s mind.

Leona stood in the darkness, directly in front of her two naked women embracing tightly, while the surrounding scenery consisted of countless stars, like candles flickering in the wind, about to be extinguished. She knew this place well; it was here that she had won her battle against the Fallen Lord. The Abyss had even used its own soul to make a giant potato chip for the Fallen Lord, thus securing His willingness to become Leona's ally.

After swearing allegiance to the Lord of the Fallen, Leona indeed felt a significant increase in her power. When she used her aura, wisps of lightning emanating from the Lord of the Fallen would weave and slither through it. This power didn't directly enhance Leona's strength, but it greatly amplified her destructive power—and it was controllable, making it incredibly convenient. Furthermore, this power, imbued with divine authority, provided the Abyss with considerable advantages, becoming a decisive factor in breaking through the Nightmare Lord's nightmare.

Just when Leona thought that the Lord of the Fallen had already contributed his value in this way, she suddenly returned to this space.

However, the enormous black cloud that had been there before was now gone, replaced by the two women in front of Leona.

Leona had seen these figures once before, when they flashed before her eyes just before she was about to emerge from the dream.

It turns out they weren't hallucinating.

“Leona Crepeus.” Another soft female voice sounded in Leona’s mind. This time the voice was different from the previous one, and it seemed to be coming from the other of the two women.

"Who are you? If you have something to say, come over and talk to me face to face. Don't hide so far away. I'm not going to eat you." Leona said with a frown.

The two women were silent for a moment, then vanished from their spot, reappearing before Leona. Only then did Leona see their faces clearly. They were two very beautiful women, naked, with long, ankle-length golden hair. Their facial features somewhat resembled elves, but they lacked the pointed ears of elves. One of their eyes was completely white, the other completely black, with no visible pupils. This appearance was strange, but Leona didn't find it frightening; instead, she found it beautiful.

“My name is Karmishura, and I am the God of Darkness,” said the woman with black eyes.

“My name is Salenbenite, and I am the Goddess of Light,” said the white-eyed woman.

"I don't remember you two being among the Nine Gods. Where did you come from?" Leona looked at them suspiciously.

The nine gods worshipped by the people of Hai-Tver are: the God of Order and Judgment, the God of Life and Harvest, the God of Love and Beauty, the God of Light and Shadow, the God of Nature, the God of Magic, the God of Conquest, the God of Death and Slaughter, and the God of Storms. Clearly, the gods who control light and darkness are not two separate deities. If what these two women say is true, then they certainly do not belong to the local pantheon.

Could it be that the Lord of the Fallen has split into two gods? If given more nourishment, could it split again? Then the Abyss could open a Lord of the Fallen breeding farm, and there would be no need to bother other extraterrestrial evil gods all over the continent.

After spending a lot of time with the Abyss, Leona's way of thinking has started to align with the Abyss's.

"We come from a world called Bestine."

"This world has been destroyed by the invasion of an extraterrestrial evil god."

Each of the two gods spoke half of the sentence, with the order being: the god of darkness, Karmishura, first, and the god of light, Salenbenite, second. Their thoughts seemed to be one, thus they had perfect understanding.

Hearing their answers, Leona became slightly curious: "Your world has been corrupted by an extraterrestrial evil god? What is your relationship with the Lord of the Fallen? Is it He who corrupted your world? Or... are you the Lord of the Fallen?"

"The Lord of Fallen... We do not know him, and we have no memory of his name."

"The evil god who destroyed our world is called Ganakreba, and his worshippers call him the 'Lord of Bullying'."

"The death of the last living being in the world symbolizes the destruction of the world. Gods cannot live in a world that has already been destroyed."

"Our world is already like this, so we leave."

"We have been drifting for a long time, unaware of our surroundings."

"We have finally awakened, and we have seen you."

"Leona."

"Crepeus".

The two goddesses' statements seemed somewhat fragmented. Leona gathered her thoughts and roughly understood what they meant. Their world had been destroyed by an extraterrestrial evil god known as the Lord of Bullying. Unable to remain in their destroyed world, they left and drifted here. They did not know the Lord of Fallen.

Leona considered a possibility—perhaps these two goddesses were actually the Fallen Ones, but they had no memory of becoming the Fallen Ones; some force turned them into evil gods with a destructive instinct.

“Have you ever thought about why you drifted here and ended up meeting me?” Leona asked immediately, wanting to confirm her guess. “When you were unaware of what was happening, did you transform into something else?”

The two goddesses looked at Leona and remained silent for a while before the God of Darkness spoke first.

“We are the guardian deities of Baistin, and we protect the world in the name of the creator god.”

"However, our mission has failed, and we must leave."

"We don't know what it would be like to leave our own world; we sleep, we awaken."

"We are here, bound by a kind of constraint."

"The voice within us tells us that you are our master."

"Even if you are a mortal, we are still your servants."

Hearing this, Leona realized her guess was pretty much right. These two deities, like the Nine Gods, had been peacefully protecting their world, but suddenly an extraterrestrial evil god called the Lord of Bullying appeared and destroyed it. Unable to remain, they underwent some kind of mutation after leaving their world, causing them to merge into one, becoming a new god—the new extraterrestrial evil god, the Lord of Depravity—who had come to invade Haiteville.

So this is how extraterrestrial evil gods are created? They're transformed from the local gods of destroyed worlds? And following this line of thought... wouldn't they just multiply?

So it turns out that the trouble isn't limited to the world of Hale-Tver; are there other worlds out there? What exactly is that creator god that the Abyss is so determined to destroy up up to?

“Master, we will teach you the language that commands us.”

“By using this language, you and those closely connected to you can draw upon our power.”

"But when power is used, it inevitably comes with side effects. If the price is not paid, the balance of the world will be broken."

"Is the master willing to learn?"

Chapter 47 The Power and Constraints of Gods from Another World

"What is the price?"

Although Leona is simple-minded, she wouldn't be greedy for small gains at a time like this. Since the two people opposite her, who might be gods from another world, said that using their power would come at a price, Leona had to find out the truth before she spoke.

"Our power will be transmitted to our master in a special form when needed."

"But we must abide by the rules of the world and not break the balance of power."

"Therefore, while the master gains our power, he must also pay an equal price. Otherwise, the balance of the world will be broken, and all existing rules and order will be affected until they collapse."

"At that time, the local gods will also intervene, attacking our master and driving us away. We will no longer be able to remain in this world."

"Our divine right is light and darkness."

"Therefore, we can provide our masters with the extraordinary ability to control light and shadow."

"But as a price, when the master manipulates darkness, the light will cause serious harm to the master."

"In contrast, when the master dominates the light, the shadow will severely weaken the master's power."

"After manipulating darkness, the master will temporarily lose emotions, and repeated use will cause a certain emotional deficiency."

"After mastering the light, the master will temporarily lose his memory, and repeated use will cause some memory damage."

"The longer we use our power, the more severe the consequences will be; what may be temporary will become permanent."

"But we will offer a reminder beforehand."

The two goddesses patiently explained to Leona the price of gaining power, and after listening, Leona fell into deep thought.

To maintain the balance of power in this world and avoid being expelled by the local gods, the abilities they provide are severely limited. Furthermore, a corresponding price must be paid after these abilities are revoked.

For ordinary people, losing emotions and memories temporarily might not be a particularly terrible thing, but these are precisely the two things Leona doesn't want to lose.

Without emotional connection, how can I appreciate the warmth provided by the trustworthy companions around me? Will I do something I'll later regret?

Without memories, how can one recall those beautiful moments, or remember the things that helped them grow and brought them joy?

Although Leona enjoyed spending money lavishly, she wasn't actually someone who particularly pursued material wealth. Otherwise, in her lifetime, with her strength as the world's number one Qi Warrior, she could have easily roamed the entire Western Empire, robbing or demanding tribute at her beck and call. What she needed most was precisely what most people had in abundance: affection and love.

Having lost her emotions and memories, what meaning does her existence hold? She would rather return to her cold grave and continue lying there.

"Master, do you need our power?"

“If our master agrees, we can teach him the language that commands us.”

Leona still refused to agree to their request: "Since your power comes at such a high price, show it to me."

"Of course, Master."

“We will show our master the experiences of the mortals who once possessed our power—our agents.”

The two goddesses listened to Leona's words without question and showed no disrespect because Leona was a mortal.

Their current state is somewhat similar to the aftereffects of their overuse of power—emotionless and amnesiac. Leona speculates that they were more agile before, and being forced to traverse worlds might have caused them some damage. Unless these two gods are planning to deceive her. But Leona can't think of any reason for them to do so. She's heard from the Abyss that the nine gods of Hay-Twelve are very concerned with balance, so they would definitely not be hospitable. The best way for these two wandering gods from elsewhere to stay in this world is to follow Leona and the Abyss.

The shadows of the two goddesses gradually faded, and the surrounding starry sky slowly brightened. Leona did not realize that she had moved, but when she came to her senses, she was in a very strange perspective.

Leona found herself on a lush, verdant planet, where she could now take in everything at a glance; the concepts of "obstruction" and "view" had vanished. The planet was inhabited by a large population whose faces bore a striking resemblance to the two goddesses. Like Hathaway, this planet had nurtured a brilliant civilization, perhaps even more advanced than Hathaway's. Countless buildings, hundreds of meters tall, stood tall, cities teeming with people, neon lights flashing everywhere, and commerce flowing ceaselessly. This world was no longer ruled by a monarch; it was controlled by a group of incredibly wealthy merchants—rich, intelligent, cunning, and savage.

Guided by the two goddesses, Leona focused her attention on the two girls.

"This fair-skinned girl is the embodiment of darkness."

"This dark-skinned girl is an ambassador of light."

“They are our only two believers in Baistin. They receive our divine pronouncements directly, ensuring that the world is not thrown out of balance by the ever-expanding desires of mortals.”

“They did a good job, but after the Lord of Bullying invaded our world, they were powerless to reverse the situation. We were bound by the Creator God and could not intervene directly, watching them sacrifice their lives but failing to turn the tide.”

As the two goddesses narrated, the stories of these two young women unfolded rapidly, like a revolving lantern. Both were born into poverty but possessed a strong sense of justice. By chance, they attracted the attention of the gods and, after trials, gained the power to change the world. The agents of darkness acted in the night, while the agents of light acted in the daytime. Through prayer, they imbued themselves with divine power, hunting down the most heinous criminals, thwarting evil plans, and crushing treacherous organizations.

The Agent of Darkness roams the shadows of the night like a phantom, leaping from any shadow, piercing through any solid wall to find her target. Any attack inflicted upon her by her dying enemies is returned to her by the power of darkness. In the darkness, she uses divine power to shatter their will, driving them mad, forever insane, and incapable of further evil.

The ambassador of light walks upright in the daylight, her figure capable of transforming into a ray of light at any moment, reaching all places illuminated by sunlight or lamplight. No attack has any effect on her; even if an enemy tries to limit her power by dimming her light, she is always one step ahead of their trap. Under her holy light, all the most wicked will repent and spend their lives atoneing for their sins.

Just as Leona was getting excited about the story of the two young heroines, a huge monster appeared before her.

It was a colossal monster, its body composed of countless teeth. Around it, countless people worshipped and relentlessly slaughtered the struggling living, burning them in a gigantic furnace. With each sacrifice, the monster slowly grew larger…

Chapter Forty-Eight: Rest and Recuperation Completed

The last scene shows the two girls rushing towards the monster without hesitation after killing a man with immense strength wielding a scimitar.

The video ended there, and Leona's vision returned to the crumbling starry sky from before, where the two goddesses were still embracing and looking in her direction.

"This is the story of our agents. Has our master seen the value of our power in it?"

"We can give you our power whenever you need it, and we can also put it away whenever you need it."
