So the group of them entered the temple. When the high monks of the temple saw that Tang Sanzang and his companions had arrived, they quickly came out to greet them.
"I have been waiting for you for a long time, and you have finally arrived," the high monk in the temple said to Tang Sanzang and his companions.
"Amitabha Buddha, Master, when we came here just now, we saw that the streets were crowded with merchants. Do you know why? Why are there so many merchants on the street?" Tang Sanzang took the opportunity to ask the abbot of the temple.
Master, you may not know this, but this country used to be very peaceful. However, for some reason, recently many centipedes have appeared at the foot of that mountain. They come out at night and crawl all over the place, blocking the view...
"Since this is the route the merchants took, they had no choice but to stay here temporarily," the high monk of the temple explained to them.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yaoxie couldn't help but wonder how there could be so many centipedes, and where they came from. Filled with doubt, he followed the abbot into the temple.
After the high monks of the temple treated Tang Sanzang and his companions to a vegetarian meal, they asked them to stay there for the night before continuing their journey westward.
Although Tang Sanzang and his companions were unwilling, they could not refuse the abbot's request, so they agreed.
At night, Lin Yaoxie, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing were all asleep, only Tang Sanzang was still reciting scriptures. Suddenly, he heard bursts of crying.
Curious, he got out of bed to see what was going on.
Lin Yaoxie was a light sleeper. When he heard that his master was getting up, he got up with Tang Sanzang and accompanied him to the courtyard.
They followed the sound of crying to a door, and as the crying grew louder, they summoned the abbot of the temple and asked him what was going on.
The abbot of the temple opened the door, and a woman walked out of it.
"Greetings, elders. I am a princess from the Kingdom of Tianzhu. One night, while I was admiring the flowers under the moon, a gust of wind blew me here. The abbot of the temple kindly took me in," the woman said to Tang Sanzang and Lin Yaoxie.
“At first, I didn’t know where this woman came from. I just felt sorry for her. Later, she told me the truth, so I sent people into the city to inquire. But the palace said that the princess had not gone missing. I thought she was so pitiful, so I kept her here. But I was afraid that the other monks in the temple would ask questions, so I could only lie and say that she was a monster. So I locked her up here,” the abbot of No. 4 Middle School explained to them.
"If you elders go to the capital, please help me inquire about the situation. See if the princess is truly not lost, so that this poor child can return home sooner," the abbot said sincerely to Tang Sanzang and his companions.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yaoxie realized there must be something fishy going on. The one in front of him was probably the real princess, but whether the one in the palace was a princess was unknown.
They agreed to the abbot's request and went back to rest.
Chapter Thirty-Three: Back to the Imperial City
After Lin Yaoxie and Tang Sanzang returned, they told their other fellow disciples about the incident. Sun Wukong immediately guessed that the princess in the palace must be a demon, and that they should be careful when they went to exchange the official documents the next day.
After resting for one night in the temple, the master, disciples, and others entered the palace again.
When the group arrived at the palace, they happened to see the princess throwing an embroidered ball to choose a husband. So Lin Yaoxie persuaded Tang Sanzang and his companions to go and see the "four-four-three" (a reference to a specific astrological concept), but Tang Sanzang still disagreed.
"Master, let's go see what that princess looks like so we can help the princess in the temple!" Lin Yaoxie tempted Tang Sanzang.
So they squeezed into the crowd, and by sheer coincidence, just as they reached the front, the princess threw down her embroidered ball, which landed directly in Tang Sanzang's arms.
"The monk caught the embroidered ball!" a woman on the city wall shouted.
At this moment, the fake princess was overjoyed, thinking, "Finally, I've caught you!" But she dared not show herself, fearing that Lin Yaoxie and Sun Wukong would recognize her with their fiery eyes, thus preventing her from being with Tang Sanzang.
They got married.
And so, without the princess showing her face, Tang Sanzang was ushered into the palace, and eventually got separated from Lin Yaoxie and the others.
When Tang Sanzang arrived at the palace, the king immediately recognized him as the son-in-law his daughter had desired!
So he immediately ordered people to prepare for their marriage, so that they could get married as soon as possible and have no worries about the future.
Upon seeing this, Tang Sanzang knew he couldn't escape, so he made some requests to the king.
"Your Majesty," Tang Sanzang said to the king, "my disciples are still in the temple. Now that I am getting married as their master, I must invite them. Moreover, I am a monk who was originally going to the Western Paradise to obtain the scriptures. If I become your son-in-law, I will definitely not be able to go to the Western Paradise to obtain the scriptures. I hope Your Majesty will call my disciples here and let them go in my place."
Seeing that Tang Sanzang was so cooperative, the king figured he was not the type to go back on his word. So he ordered his men to bring Lin Yaoxie and his companions to the palace. When Lin Yaoxie and his group entered, everyone was terrified by the appearance of Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie. Fortunately, the king remained calm and said nothing. He prepared a banquet for them and told them to eat before continuing their journey.
That very day, Tang Sanzang married the fake princess, while the evil spirit Lin, having learned her lesson, transformed herself into a bee and stuck it to Tang Sanzang's hat, then followed him into the room…
"Brother Tang, do I look good today?" the demon said to Tang Sanzang, even throwing him a flirtatious wink. Lin Yaoxie almost turned into his true form in disgust.
"Amitabha Buddha, you are a princess, and this humble monk is not worthy of you!" Tang Sanzang said, and started to walk away.
"You ungrateful monk, it's your honor to have been chosen by me. I am now a princess in this palace, enjoying endless wealth and glory. If you marry me, you'll never have to worry for the rest of your life. It's so much better than your journey to the West to obtain the scriptures!" The demon said as he walked towards Tang Sanzang.
Tang Sanzang ran away and escaped the monster's clutches.
Seeing that his attempt to kill Tang Sanzang had failed, the demon chased after him again. This time, the demon grabbed Tang Sanzang's hat, and Tang Sanzang could no longer hide.
Suddenly, the demon approached Tang Sanzang and stretched out his claws, intending to absorb Tang Sanzang's true energy. At this moment, the demon revealed his true form.
The demon hadn't expected there to be another person in the room besides himself and Tang Sanzang. He blew a breath at Lin Yaoxie, who, caught off guard, allowed the demon to escape.
Chapter Thirty-Four: Outwitting the Jade Rabbit Spirit
Immediately afterwards, Lin Yaoxie chased after them, but did not see the monster or his master.
So he went back to the temple to find Sun Wukong and the others, and explained the situation to them. After listening, Sun Wukong asked to go with Lin Yaoxie to rescue his master.
But it was nighttime, and they couldn't find it easily, so they rested for the night.
The next day at daybreak, Lin Yaoxie instructed Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing to watch over the luggage, and then took Sun Wukong to find their master.
"Wukong, where did you think Master 04 was taken? We haven't heard of any monsters along the way!" Lin Yaoxie said to Sun Wukong.
“I don’t know either. Why don’t we call the local earth god and mountain god and ask them if they know?” Sun Wukong suggested to Lin Yaoxie.
Lin Yaoxie thought this might be a good idea, so he asked Sun Wukong to call them out.
"Oh dear, I was sleeping. Great Sage, what can I do for you?" the local earth god said to Sun Wukong.
"Do you know what kind of monsters are around here? My master has been captured!" Sun Wukong said anxiously to the local earth god.
"No, I only know that there are three rabbit holes at the foot of the mountain over there, but I don't know if there are any monsters there. Why don't I go with you to take a look?" the local earth god asked tentatively.
After listening to the Earth God's words, Lin Yaoxie led Sun Wukong to find the rabbit hole, leaving the short-legged Earth God to chase after them.
Lin Yaoxie and Sun Wukong arrived at the rabbit hole. Lin Yaoxie picked up his axe and swung it open, and the monster immediately came out.
"You old bastard, you actually told them where I am! I'll settle the score with you later!" the monster said, and started fighting with Lin Yaoxie and the others.
Lin Yaoxie picked up his axe and swung it in the air, which restricted the monster's magic. However, no matter how he used his magic, it was useless.
Seeing that the monster had lost its magic, Lin Yaoxie swung his axe at it, but before he could strike, he saw someone descend from the sky.
"Young hero, Great Sage, please have mercy! Please spare this beast!" Laozi said to Lin Yaoxie.
"Spare him? If I spare him, who will spare my master? My master almost lost his life because this monster drained his true energy. There's no way I'll spare him!" Lin Yaoxie replied.
"Young hero, please spare this wicked beast. It was my dereliction of duty not to keep a close eye on her, but please show leniency!" Chang'e said to Lin Yaoxie.
Lin Yaoxie looked up and realized that this was Zhu Bajie's sweetheart. He wondered if Zhu Bajie had some kind of telepathy, because he had rushed over from the temple. Ever since he arrived, his eyes had never left Chang'e, staring at her intently.
After speaking to Lin Yaoxie, Chang'e turned to the monster again, not even giving Zhu Bajie a second glance.
"You wicked creature, quickly revert to your original form!" Upon hearing Chang'e's words, the monster indeed reverted to its original form, which turned out to be an adorable little rabbit.
"I'll release this monster, but you have to come back to the palace with me to testify that he's not the real princess," Lin Yaoxie demanded of Laozi and Chang'e.
Laozi and the others agreed to Lin Yaoxie's request. Immediately afterwards, Lin Yaoxie and Sun Wukong rescued their master from the cave. Sun Wukong was very angry and set a great fire, burning the rabbit hole to the ground.
Chapter Thirty-Five: Father and Daughter Reunited
After burning down the rabbit hole, Sun Wukong followed the evil spirit Laozi and the fairy Chang'e back to the palace.
They explained the whole affair to the king.
It turns out that the king's princess and this monster were once best friends. However, the king's princess was so engrossed in mortal life and envious of love among mortals that she chose to be reborn into the mortal world and become the king's princess.
She and this demon used to play together in the Heavenly Court. Once, the demon made a mistake, and the princess slapped him. She harbored resentment and secretly ran to the mortal world to take revenge while Chang'e was asleep. She lost her magic and became a mortal princess. She then made the princess suffer in the wilderness and took his place as the princess.
Hearing this, the king and his men finally understood the cause and effect of the matter, but what puzzled them was, where had their real princess gone?
Lin Yaoxie told them not to rush, to send away Laozi and Chang'e first, and then take them to find the princess.
"Sister Chang'e, why don't I go back to Heaven with you and we can be a loving couple?" Pigsy hurriedly stepped forward and said as he saw them about to leave.
"Marshal Tianpeng, you bear a heavy responsibility, and your mission is not yet complete. Do you want the Jade Emperor to punish you?" Chang'e said earnestly to Zhu Bajie.
After hearing her words, Pigsy said nothing and slunk back to Tang Sanzang's side.
After seeing the two off, Lin Yaoxie took the king and queen to the temple. When they saw the real princess, they were very excited.
The queen, disregarding the dust covering the princess's body and her tattered clothes, rushed forward and embraced her tightly. The mother and daughter immediately burst into tears.
The king, seeing this, silently shed tears; their daughter had finally returned.
After returning to the palace, the princess told the king and queen what had happened, and said that it was all thanks to Lin Yaoxie and his group that she was able to see her father and mother again.
So the king summoned the master and his disciples to the palace and held a grand banquet to express his gratitude. The master and his disciples were naturally willing to go. When they arrived at the palace, the princess had already changed and washed.
The king not only treated them to a meal but also summoned the princess to personally thank them. The princess, after changing her clothes, was indeed even more beautiful; her demeanor was unmistakably that of a true princess.
After the king thanked them, Lin Yaoxie told the king that the person he should be most grateful to was the abbot of the temple, because it was he who took in the princess first, which gave them the opportunity to return the real princess to him.
So the king ordered the reconstruction of the Bujin Temple and increased its incense offerings. The abbot was very grateful to the king.
“I have one more request,” Lin Yaoxie said to the king.
"I hope Your Majesty can get rid of the centipedes at the foot of the mountain."
So the king ordered thousands of roosters to be released at the foot of the mountain. In no time, the roosters ate all the centipedes, and the merchants were able to cross the mountain safely.
(Ma Ma Hao) Later, the king ordered people to rename the mountain Baohua Mountain, meaning to bless Tang Sanzang and his disciples so that they could have a smooth journey to the Western Paradise to obtain the scriptures.
After doing all this, the king changed Lin Yaoxie's travel documents, packed them with many things they could use on the road and some dry food, and let them ride in his carriage out of the city.
The group of master and his disciples declined the king's offer, taking only some food and supplies, and helped Tang Sanzang mount his horse to continue their westward journey.
Chapter Thirty-Six: Delicious "Chicken"
After bidding farewell to the King of Tianzhu, the master and his disciples came to a small river. Lin Yaoxie saw that the water in the river was very clear, so he thought: It seems that it has been a long time since I have cooked a vegetarian meal for my master. Why don't I take advantage of the good weather and the clear water today to cook a special vegetarian meal for my master?
You should write down what you were thinking, but he actually did it.
Since Tang Sanzang and his companions were monks, they could not eat meat. However, this did not mean they could not eat chicken made of flour. So, Lin Yaoxie ran a long way and brought some flour from the middle of the village.
And that's how you unlock his amazing culinary skills.
443 Lin Yaoxie found an iron basin from somewhere, scooped some river water into it, then put flour in the basin and started kneading the dough.
Tang Sanzang, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing were all stunned when they saw Lin Yaoxie's appearance. They had never seen a face before and had no idea what Lin Yaoxie was up to.
It seemed that Lin Yaoxie had guessed their thoughts.
"Don't be surprised, you'll know what it is once I've finished making it," Lin Yaoxie said to them.
Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and the others thought: since they couldn't help the demon in the forest anyway, they went to wander around and see if there were any strange things or monsters around.
When Pigsy and the others returned, Lin Yaoxie had already prepared the vegetarian meal.
