Settsetse! The Pirate Nemesis
Page 11
But then again, what should his own fighting gang be called? Sett? No, that's his own title. League of Legends? Don't even get me started, Sett never thought of himself as a good person from the beginning.
How about just calling him "Strong Man"? — But wait, naming a washed-up male celebrity with a scandalous past is too unlucky. In the North American server, Sett's title is "The Boss." Even a roughneck like Sett would give a thumbs up for translating such a term so accurately and elegantly—it's way better than Kindred's "Beast Blood King" in the Taiwanese server.
Choosing a name is so difficult.
Slightly annoyed, Sett scratched his head and realized he was really bad at thinking. Why was coming up with a name more tiring than fighting?! Frustrated, Sett slapped his forehead and decided to call it "Skullcrusher."
There's absolutely no hidden meaning to it; the reason it's called that is simply because Sett felt really good when he punched the opponent's head off.
Just as Sett was still thinking about what he should call his gang, a notification sound suddenly rang in his mind.
"Ding! Summoner's Guild established. Rewards: Hextech Chest x1, Hextech Key x1"
"Wow, there's even a reward for this?"
Hearing this, Sett perked up, and his initial frustration vanished instantly. He opened the system interface and silently chanted "Open treasure chest." As the key disappeared, two vouchers appeared before his eyes.
Quest Scroll: Praise to the God of Machines.
Overview: Defeat 5 Pacifistas to receive the reward: Limited Skin: Kingdom Mecha.
Item: Recruitment Scroll.
Overview: You can randomly recruit hero units based on their special attributes.
After glancing at it twice, I recognized Sett – Kingdom Mecha, Sett's default skin. Apparently, it caused quite a stir when it was first released, but as the controversy subsided, it was rarely mentioned afterward.
He was a little envious, but what the hell were pacifists? Sett had never heard of them after being here for so long. Maybe he could find a few to take care of later, like Tina asking around.
The second part is quite interesting. As mentioned above, it allows you to recruit other hero units based on the traits Sett chooses. These hero units will recognize Sett but have independent personalities. In other words, their initial affinity is good, and they will make their own choices based on Sett's subsequent actions.
Give it a try.
As he thought about it, Sett glanced at Robin, who had just woken up and was busy cooking.
Sett felt he wasn't lacking anything; it was Robin's constitution that was causing him some concern. So, he entered "Doctor" in the trait column. Not only would he benefit, but Robin's constitution would also improve.
Who could it be? Soraka, the Starchild? Or the mute girl with a 36D bust? Or maybe Gem Knight, who can heal and then wrestle with you... If all else fails, Lulu is also an option. Although she doesn't have healing abilities, her ultimate can increase maximum health, and as a champion who relies on auto-attacks for damage, Lulu can also increase Sett's damage.
As they were talking, the extraction was completed. Sett found that nothing had appeared in front of him, and nothing had happened.
Just as I was wondering, I heard a loud banging on the door from outside.
"Mundo!! Sett's best friend!!!"
"..."
After a brief silence, Sett's face contorted in pain: "You call yourself a doctor?!"
30. Practice medicine diligently
Upon seeing that the visitor was Mundo, Sett's face contorted in disgust—if the system had a physical form, Sett would definitely give it a breathtaking surprise!
Moreover, it's an amazing three-star Sett with Infinity Edge and double Rabadon's Deathcap in Teamfight Tactics!
Sett's original intention was to find a healing support character so that he wouldn't have to worry about logistics no matter what kind of enemy he faced—though arrogant, Sett didn't intend to be a complete idiot. He might not need healing himself, but his underlings did. For example, Robin; her fragile constitution meant Sett could easily knock her out with a single finger.
But Mundo, he's a damn doctor!
Slightly annoyed, Tina rubbed her temples and, accompanied by loud banging on the door, got out of bed, still hungover. Her delicate face was filled with the anger of being woken up, and she summoned several black iron bars, which she then hurled towards the door.
"Who is it! So annoying so early in the morning!!"
Tina realized what had happened as soon as she threw it. She immediately got out of bed to check if anything had been damaged—and as soon as she came out, she saw a small, purple giant, about four meters tall, smashing through the broken iron gate on the other side of the door.
The one who smashed through the iron gate was a burly, tall monster with purplish skin. His eyes were cloudy, but unlike Fujitora's, this monster's eyes, though lacking pupils, were clearly not blind.
An outrageously long, thick blue tongue dangled outside the gaping maw, looking as if it had been violently ripped out with iron clamps. The bulging muscles nearly burst through the fabric of his clothes, and his massive arms were easily comparable to Sett's thighs. Strange, pump-like devices were fixed to his bulging biceps, and the tattered cloth covering his body vaguely resembled a straitjacket.
In the monster's hand, however, was a surgical saw.
Its massive body was pierced by iron bars that resembled steel spears, with the most severe one having pierced its heart.
Seeing this, Tina perked up and was about to lay him down while she called the doctor to expedite his treatment when Mondo, standing nearby, scratched his head in confusion and casually pulled the iron bar embedded in his heart out.
Before Tina could say anything, Mundo's wounds began to heal at a visible speed. His purple body rippled with muscle, and granulation tissue grew rapidly from the wounds, as if he were on steroids, frantically filling them. The iron bars that had pierced his body made a series of cracking sounds, before being snapped in two by the rapidly growing muscles and expelled from the sides of the wounds.
Although his other injuries had healed, his heart was different from ordinary muscles. But this didn't faze Mundo; he raised his fist and struck the electric pump on his arm. Immediately, through the Hextech generator, a powerful current surged through his body, coursing through every corner of Mundo's form. His formidable life force was reactivated; a stream of dark, clotted blood spurted from his chest wound, and then, even the wound on his heart healed.
Looking at Mundo's smooth, pristine body, as if it had never been harmed, Tina felt her worldview being severely shaken—he was unharmed even after his heart was pierced? He also awakened a Zoan-type Devil Fruit? Wait, there was lightning just now… Could it be the Logia-type Rumble-Rumble Fruit?
Without the application of Haki, if it were a Logia-type user, Mundo wouldn't have suffered much damage.
Mundo didn't care about any of that. Just as Tina was about to apologize, Mundo raised the bone saw in his hand: "Are you crazy! Mundo will cure you!!"
"what?"
Just as Tina was about to ask, "What's wrong with me?", Mundo raised his arm, and the bone saw made a whistling sound as it cut through the air. With a snap, the bone saw, which had left Mundo's hand, shattered two solid oak walls and landed firmly on the heavy fireplace in the inner room.
If it weren't for Tina's keen combat instincts, anyone else would probably have had their upper body cleaved in two by now...
"Be careful..." Sett rubbed his temples, a headache throbbing in his eyes; "This guy's a psychopath..."
"The patient is not cooperating!"
Before Tina and Sett could say anything, Mundo, seemingly out of nowhere, pulled out a massive bone saw. His tongue lolled wildly as he yelled incoherently:
"Mundo! Practice medicine with all your might!!!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than Tina leaped into the air beside her.
One iron bar after another appeared, the gaze filled with a hint of solemnity and anger. The dark iron bars shot out like arrows: "Since he's mentally ill, then lock him up first!!!"
While silently observing from the sidelines, Sett had a feeling that Tina might be in trouble.
31. Mundo's version
The battle between Mundo and Tina can only be described as simple and brutal.
To say it was completely simple and brutal wouldn't be accurate, because in this battle, Tina still demonstrated the strength expected of a Navy Lieutenant Commander.
Whether it's the Six Powers of the Navy, Observation Haki, or Armament Haki, Tina's level of skill is top-tier in the West Blue—having been trained by Zephyr, Tina's combat prowess is beyond doubt.
Using Moonwalk to dart and weave through the air, Tina hurled the iron bars in her hands, but they only tickled Mundo.
At first, the iron bars could barely pierce Mundo's skin. But as Mundo entered battle mode, his muscles tensed, and the iron bars could only scratch him at best. While Tina suffered almost no injury, she couldn't even get close to Mundo.
The reason was simple: the Hextech electric pump on Mundo's shoulder was already running at full capacity. High-voltage current capable of instantly shocking a person was coursing through Mundo's body—for an ordinary person, a mere touch might be enough to cause shock, but for Mundo, this only further increased the beating of his heart and the functions of his various organs.
That body radiating high-voltage electricity is practically a carbon copy of Tina's Iron-Cage Fruit—slight contact will cause injury due to its conductivity. It can only be used to whittle down her health from a distance, but the damage inflicted is slower than her recovery.
Even if we take a step back, if Mundo didn't use the Hextech Pump, his sheer muscle mass and superhuman regenerative abilities would probably be enough to overpower Tina...
Sett had anticipated all of this.
In the game, Mundo can be considered the ultimate lane-holding king. If he can win, he dares to cross the minion wave; if he can't, he transforms into Ezreal, hiding in the back and using his Q skill to last-hit minions. Once his passive health recovers, he charges back in to continue fighting.
Especially the passives of E skill and ultimate, after the rework, even with a full tank build, the attack damage can reach 300. In addition, the passive can refresh the immunity to crowd control, and with Conqueror, if the ADC makes a mistake in team fights, a Q will stick to them, and then WE can be used to chase and auto-attack them to their death. It is a classic example of a character who can defeat a master with a flurry of punches. The only problem is the lack of crowd control. If the passive refresh fails, it is easy to be controlled and kited until death.
But that's all in the game. In the real world, control? Pulling and pulling? You probably have no idea how fast Mundo can run...
Games need to be considered comprehensively for gameplay and balance. Mundo's passive percentage-based health regeneration was an amazing skill for sustaining in lane, so the designers had to nerf his natural health regeneration to an absurd degree.
Garen, also a tank top laner, has a base health regeneration of 7 points every 5 seconds. Sion has 7.5 points every 5 seconds, and Trundle has 6 points every 5 seconds. Mundo, however, reaches an astonishing 1.6 points every 5 seconds…
That's understandable, given that passive percentage-based maximum health regeneration is just too overpowered. If the base health regeneration were even higher, there would be virtually no chance of being reduced to below half health in lane—but that's a game, and this is reality.
Not only was she not weakened, but she actually received a more noticeable boost. Like now, although Mundo seems unable to defeat Tina, with her almost inexhaustible energy, Tina's defeat is only a matter of time…
Seeing that the fight was almost over, Sett walked over, catching the iron spear that shot from the air with one hand and blocking Mundo's arm as he was about to throw the bone saw with the other.
Let's leave the small talk here.
"Sett?" Upon seeing Sett, Mundo tilted his head, his large blue tongue flicking out of his mouth, before a look of joy appeared on his disheveled face. "Oh! It's Sett! Mundo's good friend!!"
"...What is your relationship with him?"
Using Moonwalk repeatedly put immense pressure on even Tina's physique. Seeing that the battle seemed to be ending, she returned to the ground, panting heavily and covered in sweat, and asked, "Where did this lunatic come from? Is he your friend?!"
I guess so...
Sett shook his head and said to Mundo, "This is my home, and everyone here is my friend. They're not sick. Go and have some fun."
"Mundo likes to play at night, and work at night."
As he spoke, Mondo, with his thick tongue, went out into the yard to catch butterflies.
Having confirmed that Mundo had settled down, Sett, who was standing nearby, began explaining things about Mundo to Tina, whose face was full of doubt.
League of Legends has undergone several updates, and veteran champions like Mundo have been reworked multiple times. Aside from his most recent major rework, Mundo also had his lore modified previously.
In the initial story, Mundo was a combination of a genius doctor and a murderer, possessing profound insights into pain management and knowing how to suppress pain in extreme situations. In essence, the initial version of Mundo was a utterly wicked bastard, as his experimental subjects ranged from pets and neighbors to, in the end, even his own parents.
The first update was slightly better. Starting as an orphan, he was sent to a Zaunite orphanage, where he was used as experimental material by a cruel doctor. Because pain brought him happiness, Mundo wanted to become a doctor. So he used a meat cleaver to perform surgeries on everyone in the orphanage, based on his own understanding of surgery.
But judging from the two Hextech pumps on this Mundo's arm, it's clear that this is the latest version of Mundo...
------------
Don't worry about them overshadowing the main characters. Including Mundo, I only plan to recruit two or three other characters. The main characters will still be those from One Piece itself.
32. Reintroduction
If Sett remembers correctly, Mundo's backstory has also been significantly modified in the latest update.
Mundo initially started as a henchman of an alchemist duke in Zaun. He was thrown into a mental hospital for offending his boss. In the hospital, Mundo suffered all sorts of torture, including but not limited to nerve punctures, lobotomies, and injections of uncertified drugs… After a mental breakdown, Mundo transformed into the monster he is today.
His physical limits were broken, and his already incredibly strong body grew new muscles almost every day. He forgot his past life and couldn't understand the world around him. Because his tattered straitjacket looked no different from the ones worn by the other doctors, Mundo began to believe he was a doctor.
And thus, he began to cure and save lives in his own imagination...
"Mondo's medical skills are superb; none of his patients have ever relapsed."
The eccentric Mundo seemed to get along exceptionally well with Robin, catching butterflies while slurring his words incoherently.
“Mundo is a complete madman now.” Sett said, shaking his head indifferently. “But at least he still recognizes me.”
"Rather than a person, he's more of a biological weapon." Having heard about some of the World Government's experiments, Tina felt a headache coming on as she looked at Mundo's figure—in Sett's description, Mundo had escaped from an unknown mental hospital in the West Blue.
How could Tina remain calm when such a freak suddenly appeared in her territory?
In fact, not only Tina, but even Sett was somewhat surprised.
