"Never mind that, come with me! Frank, Natasha, you two protect one spellcaster each, Blade, watch my back and sides."
As he spoke, Genomi stomped his right foot hard on the ground.
trample!
The immense force ripped the soil from the ground, violently destroying the traps at the entrance.
The next second, Genomi crouched down, shield in hand, and broke through the doorway.
After entering through the main gate, the surrounding light seemed to be absorbed, and the overall environment became darker.
Dark visuals.
Fina cast a spell on the non-professional and the spellcaster at the right time, while staying close to Natasha. She had already wasted some mana before entering, and she had to make the most of every drop of mana she had left.
Chapter Thirty: Let's Jump Off the Building Together
"Did you hear anything?" Natasha suddenly asked after walking through several corridors.
"No, what did you hear?" Genomi stopped and used his one-handed sword to clear away the spider web in front of him.
"A wailing sound, growing louder and louder, seemed to be getting closer."
Natasha looked at Fina as she spoke, and Fina shook her head. "The Yin attribute protection on you has not been triggered. It may be some kind of targeted mental illusion."
“The wind here is polluted, and I can’t get any information from it,” Vernon continued.
“I heard the sound too, but judging from the volume, it should be some distance away.” Frank gripped his short knife tightly. They were currently in a very close-knit area with limited space, and using a gun to probe the area could easily result in accidentally injuring his teammates.
"Fina, do you know how to dispel it? Give them one," Genomi ordered.
Fina raised her hand, and the powder in her hand spread onto Natasha and Frank under the influence of magic. A transparent phantom emerged from their bodies, let out a shrill wail, and then vanished into the air.
“It’s not a ghost! It’s some kind of mark. You lack the energy to fight back and are easily influenced by your environment,” Vernon said after his observation.
Upon hearing this, Blade tossed two arrows to the two men, saying, "They contain magical power. I've opened a passage; holding them should allow you to create a magical environment around you, which might be useful."
Frank listened intently, and indeed, the wailing had subsided; he couldn't tell if it was due to the dispelling of the wailing or the effect of the magical environment.
After walking for another minute, Genomi looked around and asked, "I've never been to a haunted house. Has anyone here been? Isn't this distance a bit off?"
"..."
Silence fell. Genomi turned around abruptly and found that his teammates had disappeared at some point. At the same time, the space around him stretched rapidly, and the area in front of him became empty. It was as if he had arrived at a rooftop.
"Stop! Someone's missing!" Fina shouted from inside the haunted house.
Frank immediately turned around and saw Vernon, the person he was protecting, right beside him. Natasha and Fina were on the other side of the corridor, but Blade and Genomi were nowhere to be seen!
Vernon noticed this too, and the seed he had been holding fell to the ground and grew rapidly!
A patch of grass suddenly grew out beneath their feet, extending to the small gate they had just passed through and then branching out. Although it branched out, it was still growing on the same level, only now it had become two layers.
“The spaces overlapped; he was pulled into another space. Fina, do you know any spatial magic?” Vernon asked.
“I don’t understand. I’ve only seen some basic descriptions.” Fina shook her head. Spatial magic was beyond her knowledge. “Should we go back and see if we can get in?”
With a snap, as Fina spoke, a hole suddenly appeared in the ground. Natasha reflexively grabbed Fina's body, trying to pull her up, but the suction from the hole pulled her down with her.
With two fewer people in the team, Frank looked at Vernon with a heavy expression, wondering what to do next.
Before Vernon could even speak, their surroundings began to change. The walls turned into tiles, and the spiderwebs became white curtains. It was as if they had suddenly moved from a haunted house to a hospital, a hospital where there was no one.
......
Genome carefully looked around, thinking of a solution, when suddenly he saw a person standing by the edge of the rooftop railing, with a pair of red dancing shoes placed below the railing.
Immediately afterwards, the person leaped down.
"Blade?!" Genomi exclaimed in surprise. The man turned around as he jumped, and his appearance was none other than Blade, who had been cold and silent all along.
Genomi sprinted to the edge of the rooftop and looked down. All he could see was a thick white fog, and he couldn't see anything at all.
Spill~ The rooftop door opens.
Genomi turned around and saw that Blade, who had jumped down, had come back up. However, Blade was now much flatter, his face was a bloody mess, and fleshy growths were growing rapidly. The vampire's powerful regenerative ability and the natural blessing on his body had a combined effect greater than 2, ensuring Blade's survival.
Blade blinked repeatedly after seeing Genomi, trying to send him some message, but Genomi couldn't understand it at all. He watched as Blade stiffly walked towards the edge of the rooftop, and then simply raised the round shield in his hand and slammed it at Blade.
When the distance between the two closed to five meters, the Yin attribute protection took effect. Genomi felt as if he was being soaked in boiling water. It seemed that Blade was possessed by a ghost!
*Smack!* Blade was sent flying, the speed of his flight making it seem as if he had been hit by a truck rather than struck by a round shield. Also, while Blade flew away, he left behind a blurry ghost-like figure, which appeared to be a girl.
The next second, Genomi realized that his vision had changed, from looking behind him to looking towards the edge of the rooftop, and at the same time he saw a girl crying as she walked towards the edge.
He tried to open his mouth to say something, but Genomi felt like something was stuck in his throat, and no sound came out.
He could only watch helplessly as the girl took off her red dancing shoes and jumped down with all her might. But just as her body passed the edge of the rooftop, Genomi found himself suspended in mid-air in the girl's place.
Damn it! I don't want to jump off a building!
Genomi closed his eyes as he thought about it.
*Thud!* A sharp pain quickly shot through Genomi's mind. He had taken a hard fall, but fortunately, a knight's body is tough, and with the protection of the Yin attribute magic reducing some of the damage, he wasn't actually seriously injured.
However, before Genomi could catch his breath, he found himself back on the rooftop. This time, he and Blade were switched places. He was slowly walking towards the edge, while Blade stood by, unsure of what to do.
*Thud thud thud!* After three more jumps, Genomi was speechless. He felt like his internal organs were shifting. Even an iron man couldn't withstand such a fall.
Blade was sweating profusely. He had thought the red dancing shoes were the key, so as soon as Genomi stood on the edge of the rooftop, he shot his arrow at the shoes, but to no avail.
Upon seeing Genomi for the fourth time, Blade realized that this was no longer working; Genomi was bleeding from all seven orifices and looked like he couldn't hold on any longer.
With a gritted tooth and a stomp of his foot, Blade kicked Genomi, just as Genomi had shield-bombed him. After kicking away the body, the ghost remained and attached itself to Blade.
As Genomi flew backward, he stared intently at the fleeting ghost. He wondered if it was just his imagination, but the ghost seemed to have faded a little.
Chapter Thirty-One: Human Body Puzzle
After landing, Genomi regained control of his body and began to breathe heavily. He pushed his breathing technique to its limit, rapidly circulating and consuming his blood and energy to repair every wound left from the fall.
The sound of Blade jumping off the building echoed in Genomi's ears three times in five minutes. Blade, who had finally recovered, was back to the same grotesque state that Genomi had initially seen him in.
Feeling that he had recovered somewhat, Genomi took a deep breath, wanting to try to confirm some of his ideas.
Holding a shield in his right hand, Genomi blocked Blade's path, then gently tapped Blade with his round shield. Blade fell backward, and the perspective shifted, making him the one jumping off the building again.
This time, however, Genomi was not worried. When the ghost emerged from Blade's body, it had faded a little. If he was not mistaken, the ghost had suffered some damage with each jump, and this damage was likely due to the thorn aura on their bodies.
Blade realized this as well, and after breaking away, he lay down on the ground to focus on recovering from his injuries, preparing to take over for Genomi.
This was repeated more than ten times, and the two of them were no longer recognizable. Their parents wouldn't even recognize them after being thrown around like that. However, the effect was significant, and they could now communicate when possessed.
"How many more times can you hold out?" Blade asked, leaning against the wall.
“Twice you switch with me,” Genomi said, enunciating each word clearly.
After two attempts, Blade grabbed Genomi's right hand and pulled it back, causing the ghost to appear. However, Blade instinctively dodged, avoiding the attack. The ghost seemed to have been jumping around too many times and was confused. After being dodged, it stopped attacking, gave the two of them a deep look, and walked towards the edge of the rooftop.
"Hey, little sister, why do you have to jump off a building?" Genomi tried to talk to the ghost.
The ghost looked like she wanted to turn around and speak, but her soul wouldn't listen. Blade scratched his head, then simply ran to the ghost's side and grabbed her back the moment she jumped.
After breaking free from the loop, the ghost exploded, and Blade and Genomi saw a series of images. In these images, the girl was dancing happily, and her mother was clapping beside her. However, as time went on, the mother stopped clapping and instead began to curse, using extremely vicious language to constantly provoke the girl and imply that she should jump off the building.
The final scene shows the girl taking off her most beloved dance shoes and then jumping off the rooftop.
The scene ends, and Blade and Genomi return to the haunted house. When they look at each other, they see surging anger in each other's eyes.
On the other side, Frank and Vernon walked through the hospital. The surroundings were empty, but the smell of blood was overwhelming. On every table they could see, there was an organ, and they didn't know what it was supposed to mean.
Suddenly, Frank noticed an empty table, and then a monster with its chest cavity open walked out of the next room. The monster had many tubes inserted into its back, with the other end of the tubes connected to the ceiling. The monster's chest cavity was empty, as if it had been hollowed out.
"Get him!" Frank and Vernon exchanged a glance and then threw the knife in their hands at each other.
The knife pierced the monster's body precisely, and Frank coughed up blood, feeling as if someone had stabbed him in the lung.
"Don't fight!" Frank opened his mouth and spat out a pool of blood mixed with white foam.
Vernon grabbed Frank's hand, and instantly a bright green light shone, healing the wound in Frank's lungs in an instant.
The monster looked at Vernon and Frank, opened its mouth as if to laugh, but no sound came out.
"If he can't be hit, can we hit the entrails on those tables?" Frank asked as he quickly backed away.
“I’ll give it a try.” Vernon flicked his finger, and a seed landed on the edge of the table. The plant that grew from it had a small thorn at its tip, and it carefully touched the heart on the table with the thorn.
Vernon groaned, his legs buckled, and Frank quickly picked him up. The monster, wielding a large machete, continued to approach, not moving fast, but showing no intention of stopping.
“I think we should stuff these things into his body and then send him to heaven. What do you think?” Frank asked while dodging.
“I think so too, but I can control him. I haven’t studied medicine. Can you?” Vernon countered.
Frank thought for a moment. He wasn't a medical school graduate himself, but he had killed so many people, performed first aid on the battlefield, and studied human anatomy at S.H.I.E.L.D. for a while. He should be pretty close to the truth. Anyway, that person was already dead, so he didn't need to be as cautious as if he were a living person.
"You've tied it up, let me try."
"Row."
Vernon's deep voice began to echo in the empty hospital, as vines extended from the surrounding walls, weaving a huge net in the corridors.
The monster, who had little intelligence, was immediately bound and fell to the ground after entering.
After subduing the enemy, Frank carefully picked up the heart from the table and stood in front of the open chest cavity. The monster wasn't actually that big, but its chest appeared larger because it was open to the sides. After estimating for a while, Frank put the heart inside.
"Be gentle!" Vernon said, his heart still aching. "You were the one assembling it, so why is the damage happening to me?"
"Maybe you're the one who tied it up," Frank said, as he moved the other internal organs over as well.
Well... the number of internal organs is not a problem, but the placement is a big problem. Every time Frank makes an adjustment, Vernon's face twitches as he watches from behind. After the adjustment is almost complete, Vernon is already sitting on the ground, in too much pain to speak.
After the chest cavity was closed, before Frank could even make a move, the bound "person" in front of him began to rot, and a few seconds later only a pool of pus remained.
Frank and Vernon also watched a short film showing how a healthy man walked into a hospital and was completely emptied out, turning into a monster. All the organs that had been taken from him were put into other people's bodies. Clearly, this was an illegal organ trade.
"Vernon, don't Druids believe in nature? What would you do if you encountered something like this?" Frank asked coldly.
“It has its own wrath, of course,” Vernon said, the surrounding vines rustling as he spoke. “And you?”
"Me? I have experience dealing with this kind of scum, a lot of experience," Frank said calmly, his killing intent already made up.
A dozen seconds later, the environment around them gradually returned to normal, and they were back in the haunted house. But having watched the short film, they no longer felt any fear of the haunted house. Haunted houses are scary, but some hospitals are far scarier than this place.
