Chapter Thirty-Two: The Script Ends

"Where are the other two?"

Vernon heard the sound and turned around, just as Genomi and Blade walked out of the back room.

“They fell down,” Vernon said, pointing to a hole in front of him. “Judging from the way the grass is growing, there should be an overlapping space below.”

“We can’t wait any longer. Let’s go down together. I reckon the target of the mission is waiting for us down there.” Genomi said before jumping in first.

The underground space was filled with the smoke of gunpowder, and there were ruins everywhere. The traces of shelling and bombs were clearly visible. After Frank arrived here, he felt his body suddenly become active. He was familiar with this kind of place. Before he was discharged from the army, he spent some time in similar places.

The sound of bombs exploding reached Frank's ears and even gave him a sense of familiarity. In Frank's eyes, these things were much easier to deal with than ghosts or the like.

Frank hadn't walked far through the war ruins when he spotted Fina. After greeting his teammates, he crouched down and quickly crept over.

Fina crouched in a corner formed by two walls, covering her ears with her hands and holding up a pale blue magic shield.

"Fina, Fina," Frank called out twice.

Fina looked up, her vision blurry with Frank's appearance. She was still a little dizzy from the continuous explosions. "You're all here?"

“Yes, they’re behind us. Where’s Natasha?” Frank asked in return.

“She said I wasn’t suited for this kind of battlefield terrain and told me to hide here while she went to take care of the enemy, but it doesn’t seem like she made much progress. It’s good that you’re here. I’ll hold up a shield for you. Let’s all go and help.” Fina shook her head and said.

Frank poked his head out from behind the cover. The space was relatively bright, and he immediately spotted two small dots in the distance. One was Natasha, and the other was probably the enemy.

“No need, we can’t wait that long. You wait here for them to come over, and give me a shield. I’m an expert in this area,” Frank said very seriously.

Indeed, how could Marines not be professionals?

Fina didn't say much more. She raised her hand and added a shield, and Frank darted out like a cheetah. The ruined terrain posed no obstacle to him at all.

Once the distance closed, Frank finally understood why the famous Black Widow hadn't been able to take down the enemy for so long.

The opponent is cheating! Every drop of their bodily fluid and every part of their body can turn into a bomb. Even a spit is like a bomber attack. Under this frequency of attacks, Natasha can only keep dodging and has no chance to attack at all.

Natasha spotted Frank approaching quickly and raised her hands in a gesture indicating that firearms were prohibited.

"Banned firearms? Firearms ineffective?" Several thoughts flashed through Frank's mind, but he did not stop walking. Since firearms were useless, he would just assassinate him with melee weapons.

Frank then gave Natasha a few tactical hand signals while moving and began to move to the left. Natasha cooperated by leading the enemy to turn in another direction, allowing Frank to successfully infiltrate the enemy's blind spot.

With his feet firmly planted on the ruins, Frank quickly approached the enemy, who was dressed in strange black clothing from head to toe, with only a gap at the junction of his neck and body.

Frank lowered his body even further, then flicked his right wrist, clamping three switchblades between his fingers.

Swish!

The switchblades covered a distance of over twenty meters, accurately striking the enemy's neck. Each strike hit the hilt of the previous blade, causing the first blade to pierce through the enemy's neck.

After firing the switchblade, Frank rolled to the side, clutching his head as he tumbled down the rubble—the best way to avoid a close-range explosion.

Even after descending more than 30 meters, Frank did not hear the sound of an explosion.

After standing up under cover, Frank found that the enemy had stopped attacking and instead knelt down, calmly accepting death.

The scene shifts, and Frank sees a little boy who was almost an adult when he was adopted. The boy's happiness is short-lived; a man in a priest's robe straps bombs all over his body, turning him into a disposable tool.

In his dying moments, the little boy's last wish was for someone to kill him before the bomb exploded.

After the scene ended, the surrounding environment returned to its haunted house appearance.

After the script reached this point, Yang Qiu let out a long sigh. This time, he hadn't gone into detail about every aspect of the script. The scenes that Frank and the others saw were added to the script as it evolved, adapted from real events.

Each story was poignant, but the overall outcome was quite good, achieving the result Yang Qiu desired.

Blade, Frank, and Natasha have all come to truly believe in the existence of the underworld and the Ouroboros organization.

What follows is the final scene of the script—the self-destructive cult.

After experiencing the scenario three times, everyone in the team was quite angry.

They quickened their pace and soon arrived at the last scene of the haunted house, a scene simulating a prison.

The simulated prison room was decorated with eerie patterns and designs. In the flickering candlelight on the floor, they saw two corpses lying symmetrically on the left and right.

The corpses all wore terrifying smiles, their limbs firmly nailed to the ground with wooden pegs.

Upon further observation, the two bodies were clearly those of the mother who drove her daughter to jump off the building and the man who forced the child into the hospital.

"Anger...revenge...the desire to kill will guide my Lord to descend upon this defiled world, to bring baptism to all filthy humanity..."

A voice came from the rear of the group, and Blade turned and fired an arrow.

The arrow pierced the man's body but did not make him retreat a step. He looked at the six people in front of him as if he had seen a priceless treasure.

"The coming of the Lord requires an audience and even more sacrifices. I declare that you are the audience! You are the sacrifices!"

The cultist laughed and raised his hands, revealing his scarred skin and a small knife stuck in his chest.

He swung his right hand down suddenly, gripping the knife and tearing his own body apart. Blood splattered everywhere, and he let out a cry that was hard to tell whether it was a wail or something else.

Genomi gripped his round shield, ready to fight, but the creature the cultist had spoken of never appeared, even after the cultist died. Instead, the Ouroboros symbol lit up, signaling the end of the rookie assessment.

"It's over just like that?" Frank was a little incredulous.

“It should be. If there really is some kind of evil god, then the new recruit assessment is way too much.” Vernon said, looking at Frank.

The next moment, the group was escorted back to their original positions before the assessment.

Chapter Thirty-Three: The Great Harvest

After everyone was teleported away, the celestial body representing Script Six in Yang Qiu's mind universe rapidly expanded.

After expanding, its volume was larger than the other five, and the other scripts automatically established links with it and began to revolve around it.

At the same time, Yang Qiu clearly felt that the upper limit of his mental power had increased significantly.

Script Six: The Ouroboros's Test

World energy level upgrade: The current planet's energy activity level has increased, the threshold for advancing through various paths has decreased, and the threshold for energy perception has decreased.

After the script was finalized, Yang Qiu immediately gathered all the relevant knowledge, and his previously scarce knowledge base suddenly became abundant.

That's not all. The materials Fina used in the mission, the various seeds Vernon used, and the special weapon in Genomi's hands were also added to the scope of Yang Qiu's mental energy transformation.

However, because the script's evolution was not perfect in the end, the various mysterious side bases that Yang Qiu mentioned were not realized. But Yang Qiu had already considered this point.

Immediately after joining, Jenomi and the other two were assigned some investigation tasks. The purpose was simple: to keep them from knowing that the location in their memories had not yet appeared. As for where they were staying, Yang Qiu had recently obtained an unused Sorcerer Supreme headquarters from the Ancient One, which they could use.

On the other side, Natasha, who had just left the assessment site and hadn't even had a chance to check her Ouroboros mark update, found Nick Fury sitting right across from her.

"So, did you get the location?" Natasha asked, as she always carried a miniature GPS device.

"Satellite data shows that after you left the station, you appeared near an abandoned haunted house in the suburbs. You stayed there briefly for a few minutes before the satellite signal was lost," Nick Fury briefly explained. "Where did you go after that?"

"It's still there, but it might have gone to the past." Natasha still found the experience incredibly magical; the power of time was full of mystery.

"past?!"

"That should be correct. Judging from the current situation, there is indeed a side to the world, a side composed of various supernatural forces."

Natasha then recounted her experiences.

“Mage…Druid…that’s really unexpected,” Nick Fury remarked.

If Genomi heard this, he'd definitely cry. Knights aren't as eye-catching as spellcasters, so why are they being ignored like this?!

“Yes, I suggest we set up a special task force to re-examine all previous suspected supernatural events. There must be many of these that we originally thought were normal events,” Natasha added.

“The idea is good, but it’s a bit late,” Nick Fury said, tossing a document over.

Natasha flipped through it and found it was a supplementary document on law enforcement powers. It clearly stated that some of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s law enforcement powers had been taken back by the permanent members of the Security Council because each permanent member had established its own supernatural rapid response force, and related matters had been taken over by them.

"How...how did they find out so quickly!" Natasha was a little surprised, as the information about Ouroboros was clearly being kept within a very small circle.

Nick Fury shook his head. He didn't want to say much. S.H.I.E.L.D. was like a sieve in front of top-level national powers; information couldn't be blocked at all.

"The situation is now very clear. We now have only one advantage over these short-sighted people: you have already stepped into the so-called mystical side."

Nick Fury, for reasons unknown, developed a sense of superiority, always believing that no other country was as beneficial to humanity as his S.H.I.E.L.D.

“No, there are two more people: Frank, a former Marine, and Blade, a vampire hunter,” Natasha added.

“I already know. Frank will not choose to rejoin the military. What he has experienced has made him completely lose trust in the government, and he has disappeared from our sight since yesterday. Blade, on the other hand, has somehow escaped our surveillance along with his mentor.” Nick Fury’s expression was grim. S.H.I.E.L.D. was now facing a severe test.

Natasha looked at Nick Fury without saying a word, and if that were the case, she felt she was in danger.

As a former Soviet defector with a clear position and identity, she was the easiest target if the state wanted to eliminate someone.

"You're overthinking it. A meeting just ended recently, where Russia raised objections to your status and argued that you should be extradited back to Russia. The United States objected, while China remained neutral. In short, we're in a strange state of equilibrium right now, but as long as we don't make any mistakes, you're safe for the time being."

Nick Fury seemed to understand Natasha's thoughts and explained to her.

During the video conference just now, the diplomats from all sides almost came to blows if they weren't unable to physically attack each other.

"Furthermore, based on the joint analysis of multiple intelligence analysts, we believe that the most likely reason why the mystical side has suddenly started accepting non-mystical personnel is that the Ancient One, who established the rules, may not live much longer," Nick Fury added.

"Wait, who is the Ancient One?" Natasha asked, completely confused.

With a snap, Nick Fury placed a USB drive in front of Natasha.

"This was sent by Frank half an hour ago. It contains some information he knows about the mystical side. The Ancient One was directly responsible for the current seclusion of the mystical side and is also one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world."

Nick Fury said he felt a headache coming on. Frank had left a message at the end of the USB drive: they were even.

Nick Fury felt cheated by using his personal connections to obtain information that absolutely had to be made public.
