Yes, that must be a doll. Damn Wayne, damn Athrun, how could they create such a horrific biological weapon, implanting Originium creatures into human bodies and raising them? It's truly chilling!
The Earl of Princeton cursed inwardly, completely forgetting that Kal'tsit, whom he called an "emotionless doll," had just been having a normal conversation with him.
With his familiarity with the mansion's layout, he quickly slipped open the second door of the corridor and rushed in. Before him was a study whose layout had been completely altered, but fortunately, the wall he was looking for was not blocked by the bookshelves that Wayne had bought. He looked back every few steps, sweating profusely as he reached the wall. Based on his memory, he pressed the mechanism on the wall, and a futuristic-looking monitor and scanner slowly appeared on the wall that was originally covered with iris-patterned wallpaper.
Earl Princeton quickly entered the password on the touchscreen and displayed his thumbprint on the scanner. He then strode into the opened secret passage. After watching the door close completely and Kal'tsit not appear in the study, he finally breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the wall.
"Huff, huff, huff, huff—"
Although he tried his best to suppress his panting, the joy of surviving the ordeal made him unable to control himself.
Thankfully, the soundproofing in the enclosed room is good enough. They probably can't hear it from outside.
This secret room was originally the mansion's surveillance room, where surveillance cameras placed in various corners of the mansion could monitor the actions of everyone inside from all angles. However, after Wayne's arrival, the Earl of Princeton never came here again.
The reason wasn't that he was being exceptionally kind or insane, wanting to protect Wayne's privacy. Rather, it was because 99% of the surveillance cameras were secretly installed inside those expensive pieces of furniture, and those expensive pieces of furniture...
He's probably spending the rest of his life in some ordinary Princeton County home, perhaps. The security cameras had long since exceeded the range of the wireless signal and were all out of service. So the Earl of Princeton never even visited this now-useless secret room.
But now, this place has unexpectedly become his refuge.
Leaning against the wall of the secret chamber, the Earl of Princeton couldn't help but pray for the warriors of the Deep Pool. He felt a sense of shared fate; if they died, he would be next.
Hopefully they can take down that film monster!
Earl Princeton couldn't help but pray, yet he knew in his heart that it was almost impossible. After all, facing that enormous Originium monster, [Deeppool] had lost two members in almost a single encounter. To think that the remaining few could take down Kal'tsit was practically wishful thinking.
Hopefully they can hold out a little longer, after all, there's more than one "deep pool" that has infiltrated the mansion.
"Click".
The sudden sound of the door opening interrupted the Earl of Princeton's thoughts. His heart leaped into his throat, and he held his breath, afraid to make a sound. He was terrified that the unknown visitor in the study outside the secret room would notice his presence.
However, as if what he feared most was exactly what happened, the footsteps grew closer and closer to the wall, finally stopping on the other side of the wall in the secret room.
"Huff, huff, huff—"
The Earl of Princeton could no longer suppress his breathing; his heart pounded like raindrops, making his breathing incredibly heavy, and the panting sounds echoed throughout the secret chamber!
There was nothing outside the door!
There's nothing on this wall!
Why is she stopping in front of this wall? What is she looking at?
Who is she?
“mon3tr”.
Even though the walls were soundproof, Kal'tsit's cold voice seemed to come directly from his mind.
Goosebumps rose all over his body, he shivered uncontrollably, and his legs trembled as if they were drumming. In the end, he could only stand by leaning against the wall.
However, even so, the old green witch and her familiar did not let him go.
"Click".
"Click, click."
The eerie sounds of collapse compelled the Earl of Princeton to focus all his attention on the trembling wall before him. The sounds grew louder and louder, until finally, mon3tr let out a terrifying roar.
"(Angry roar)!"
The behemoth's scythe-like feet cleaved through the wall before him like a battle axe, and the Earl of Princeton let out uncontrollable screams and cries like a newborn infant: "Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!"
This is an alloy! An alloy! A hard alloy second only to D32 steel!
It was actually cleaved in two!
"mon3tr, enlarge the incision."
Kal'tsit said calmly, pulling a piece of paper from her desk and wiping her bleeding arm.
The "Deep Pool" organization doesn't possess particularly strong offensive capabilities, but just like their name suggests, each member has some strange and unusual abilities, like a bottomless abyss that's difficult to fathom. Furthermore, Kal'tsit wasn't careful enough at first and nearly fell victim to one of their sabotage tactics involving self-destruction.
Fortunately, mon3tr's command was activated in time: defend, emergency counterattack, which meant the explosion only injured his arm. However, the enemy used this opportunity to buy more time, slowing down Kal'tsit's arrival.
As for Earl Princeton wanting to escape? That's impossible. No prey targeted by mon3tr can escape the jaws of this Originium behemoth. Earl Princeton had already been firmly targeted by mon3tr when he started taunting Kal'tsit.
Wielding its scythe-like legs, mon3tr easily widened the slit in front of it to the size of a person. After Kal'tsit entered, it shrank back and barely squeezed through as well. Meanwhile, the Earl of Princeton had retreated to the deepest part of the secret chamber. The Victorian earl frantically waved his hands, pleading "Don't kill me," while frantically rubbing against the wall, trying to get as far away from mon3tr as possible.
It seems that the alien-themed entrance I just made with mon3tr really scared this young man.
Kal'tsit silently thought that the inspiration for this operation came from Wayne's casual notes. According to him, if the script he wrote could be made into a movie, it would definitely make a lot of money. He even encouraged Kal'tsit to send mon3tr for a cameo appearance. Of course, Kal'tsit did not agree, but she still remembered the part about the alien.
Her intimidating entrance clearly terrified the guy, making the interrogation much easier. Kal'tsit silently noted this down; perhaps she could use this tactic again sometime in the future.
She silently looked at the Earl of Princeton, raised her hand, and just as she opened her mouth, before she could utter a single syllable, she heard the Earl of Princeton, who was constantly shifting his position, let out a shrill roar of anger:
"You forced me to do this! You forced me to do this!"
"Then let's die together."
Chapter Ninety: Just Like I Did Before
An ominous aura.
Kal'tsit took a step back, raised her hand to block the eerie wind that seemed to transform into a monster, and frowned deeply.
She immediately recognized the true identity of the ominous object in the Earl of Princeton's hand. Although she did not know its exact appearance, the aura emanating from it indicated that it was a "fragment of evil."
What's wrong with Victoria? How could a mere Earl of the North have obtained a fragment of a demon? Shouldn't such a dangerous object be sealed away and shelved by the Aslan royal family, like Wayne's, once it appears? How did it end up in the hands of a nobleman?
Exhausted from even commenting on whether the entire Aslan royal family of Victoria was dead or how they could have gotten themselves into such a mess, Kal'tsit raised her hand, swallowing the words of surrender she had prepared, and instead spoke in a persuasive tone:
"Put that thing down, Your Excellency. You are unaware of its danger."
The Earl of Princeton glared at Kal'tsit. How could he not know how dangerous this thing was?
Eight years ago, it was his father, the new ruler of the North, the Duke of Normandy, who discovered this thing in the forests of the Count of Vincent, and it was based on this thing that the Duke of Normandy was able to find "it".
That monster has gone mad.
The Earl of Princeton still vividly remembered the horrors of that expedition. For some reason, the Duke of Normandy refused his suggestion to report the expedition to the King of the North in Londinium, and also refused to inform the Northern garrison and mobilize troops to annihilate it. He went his own way, setting off on the journey to subdue the "monster" with only a few hundred of his personal guards.
The Earl of Princeton watched him leave with a solemn expression. He had taken the most advanced weapons and equipment of the time, but he still returned in the end, seriously wounded, with a few wounded soldiers who were almost collapsing. It was the most difficult and dangerous battle that his father, the Duke of Normandy, had ever fought, and this battle was against a so-called "monster" that he did not know what it was or what it looked like from beginning to end.
That battle nearly depleted the Duke of Normandy's coffers. Not a single new weapon was brought back, and the full payment of the large sums of compensation plunged the once wealthy Duke's family into despair. It was after that, in order to maintain the military strength of the North and his own dignity and power as a duke, that the Duke of Normandy took his first step in violating military ethics—accepting a bribe from a wealthy Colombian merchant.
From then on, he knew that this monster was powerful, so powerful that even his father, who was almost invincible in his childhood memories, almost suffered a Waterloo.
However, due to the Duke of Normandy's inexplicable stubbornness, he failed to inform anyone of the bloody campaign and the triumphant victory, nor did he record the event in any history book.
Therefore, he treasured this fragment, which originated from the "monster's" body, as the origin of everything and a trophy of his father's great achievements.
At least, he can still remember and praise his father for defeating an incredibly powerful monster and protecting the frontiers and people of the North of Victoria.
At this moment, holding the fragment, a voice seemed to whisper in his ear: If that green-haired Felin could control monsters, why couldn't he?
This was his last chance to turn things around. Success meant life, failure meant death. It was better than being captured by that old witch and Wayne, in which case he would suffer as much torment as the Duke of Normandy.
He raised his head and looked at Kal'tsit, his eyes unknowingly clouded with a black film. The next second, he opened his mouth and resolutely swallowed the fragment in his hand.
"You forced me to do this!"
The Earl of Princeton uttered his final words.
Kal'tsit's face suddenly darkened. She abruptly waved her hand and ordered, "mon3tr, command: [Meltdown]!"
A burst of crimson mist suddenly erupted from the jet-black Originium behemoth's body, its eerie green eyes turned blood red, and its four scythe-like legs swung down mercilessly, instantly cleaving the Earl of Princeton into four pieces.
In fact, when the Earl of Princeton took out that ominous black fragment, Kal'tsit already knew what was going to happen and made a decision as quickly as possible.
The Wasteland Demons are extremely terrifying; even their mere fragments possess the ability to regenerate and bewitch. When the Earl of Princeton's eyes were covered by a black membrane, Kal'tsit already knew that she could not persuade the poor earl to return.
What's puzzling is that even a wasteland monster shouldn't be able to erode a person's will so quickly with just a fragment smaller than the palm of your hand. Moreover, this person is a learned and knowledgeable nobleman. Such a person should be aware of the danger of the monster and wouldn't be so easily swayed.
Then there's only one possibility.
Kal'tsit's brows showed no sign of relaxing. She looked down at the Earl of Princeton, who, despite being cut into four pieces, had not bled a drop of blood and was even emitting eerie black smoke, and clicked her tongue in amazement.
How long have these guys, and their families, held onto this fragment? And how long have they been corrupted and eroded?!
Kal'tsit had always found it strange. Although she had never met Wayne's father, the deceased King in the North, she knew from both official and unofficial intelligence that he might be a tyrant, but certainly not a foolish one. How could such a rare and powerful figure have made such a huge oversight in selecting capable officials, enfeoffing a duke with treacherous intentions in his homeland of origin, the North?
Both Kal'tsit and Wayne had speculated about this, suggesting that it might be due to external interference, internal pressure from their own factions, the passage of time and the stirrings of people's hearts, or complex emotions and social dynamics.
But now, the truth is finally clear.
Kal'tsit didn't know why a Grand Duke of a border town would make such a common-sense mistake as keeping a fragment of the Wasteland Demon, nor did she know what changes the Duke of Normandy underwent after obtaining the fragment, how he gradually transformed from a loyal and capable general trusted by the King in the North, who was entrusted with the heavy responsibility of defending the "land of the dragon's rise," the frontier, and the line of defense of civilization, into a cunning villain who committed all kinds of evil, committed heinous crimes, deceived his superiors and subordinates, and even intended to raise the banner of rebellion against the King in the North's son.
All she knew was that, at least for now, this monster, rising from the ground and reattaching its body with its rapidly growing flesh, had no connection whatsoever with Victoria, the King of the North, Wayne, the Duke of Normandy, or even his predecessor, the Earl of Princeton.
The monster rising to its feet is the tentacle of an enemy of civilization reaching into the civilized world. And what Kal'tsit must do now is what she has done for the past thousand years as a guardian—to sever it completely, and then destroy it!
Chapter Ninety-One: The Identity of the Demon
Victoria, Princetonshire, in the North, is the temporary residence of the King of the North.
No one can underestimate a Wildlands Demon; from any perspective, these monsters are powerful enough to rival legendary gods. Even though what lies before her is merely a mortal corpse infected and manipulated by fragments of the Wildlands Demon, Kal'tsit shows no sign of letting her guard down.
Command: [Melting] has been activated. mon3tr is enveloped in high temperature, and every piece of Originium on its body emits a pale red light. Violence bursts from the eyes of this Originium behemoth, and its four scythe-like legs rub together restlessly, as if it would not be able to resist turning its blades against itself if it did not bathe in blood again.
This is one of Kal'tsit's strongest and final moves. After using this move, even with her strong body, she will be in a daze for a long time, and mon3tr will fall into a period of slumber, silently repairing the limbs damaged in the [Melted] state.
Using this tactic signified that Kal'tsit was prepared for a swift victory! She certainly wouldn't wait for the constantly repairing and regenerating [Demon] to fully awaken. The moment she saw the Earl of Princeton stand up again, she abruptly took a step back, handing the battlefield over to mon3tr, and gave the order:
"mon3tr, hold back, destroy it with all your might!"
(A joyful cry)
Having not received such a simple and brutal command from its master for a long time, the berserk Originium behemoth was finally able to unleash its true nature. It opened its mouth, and a feint energy blast quickly condensed within, shooting it at the demon that was repairing itself not far away. This forced the demon to temporarily halt its body modification and reconstruction, diverting its attention to block mon3tr's attack.
These fragmented infections create "incomplete demons" with this weakness: they are incomplete, and being incomplete means lacking a brain. Mon3tr's feint attack with a small energy blast might be fatal to an ordinary human, but it was nothing to a demon like him. However, out of survival instinct, the demon quickly abandoned the obviously more important physical reconstruction and chose to use all its power to block this small energy blast.
It was like using the firepower of an interceptor missile to defend against a mosquito bite; a great deal of time and energy was wasted on resisting a single energy blast, and the ominous black aura shrouding the demon's body in other areas thinned slightly. Kal'tsit immediately seized this opportunity and gave the order:
"mon3tr, raid!"
"(A roar of fervor)!"
Even before Kal'tsit could speak, mon3tr had already charged towards the demon, wielding his scythe-like legs. Few creatures are more experienced than predators in exploiting their enemies' weaknesses, and mon3tr and Kal'tsit have played that role for millennia!
When faced with evil, they will never be as helpless as the ignorant living in the civilized world!
