They are the hunters; the demons are the prey!

Suddenly, the Originium on mon3tr's scythe feet burst into a brilliant red light. The scythe feet, which had reached the melting point of steel, seemed to become two indestructible thermal cutting swords, slashing heavily from the blind spots on both sides of the demon's body.

"Whoo-"

A foul odor emanated from the gradually disintegrating flesh and blood, but Kal'tsit merely frowned and made no attempt to avoid the somewhat nauseating scene before her.

She wasn't sure if her attack had actually killed the demon, but her intuition told her that demons weren't so easily defeated, even if it was just a fragment from who-knows-how-many years ago. Kal'tsit summoned Mon3tr back to her side, checked Mon3tr's [Melted] status, clicked her tongue in worry, and then cautiously approached the pool of Mon3tr's melted corpse in front of the wall.

mon3tr can only maintain this state for a maximum of three minutes. If the demon is not killed yet, he must finish it off immediately. Otherwise, once the [Melting] state is lifted, Kal'tsit, without mon3tr, will definitely not be able to defeat the resurrected demon.

She is the only one in the entire mansion who knows of the demon's existence. This is the time when the monster is at its weakest, and Kal'tsit cannot afford to delay for even a moment.

She approached the corpse, which had been stabbed through the waist and whose interior had completely turned into grease and brittle bones. With a furrowed brow, she took out the medical gloves she had casually put on when treating Wayne's injuries (from the impact with the reeds), ignored her feline instincts and discomfort with filth, bent down, and reached into the monster's "stomach".

If she wasn't mistaken, the Earl of Princeton should have swallowed the fragment.

Once the demonic fragments can be successfully retrieved, this sudden "alien contamination" incident can be officially resolved.

While keeping a close watch on the possibility of the corpse rising from the dead, Kal'tsit fumbled with bated breath until she finally managed to grab the "Fragment of the Demon" that had remained undamaged even after being cut directly by the high-temperature scythe of mon3tr and took it out.

The anticipated "resurrection" and "second transformation" did not occur from beginning to end, which relieved Kal'tsit slightly.

It seems that the owner of this demon fragment is not too strong. After all, the alien species that Kal'tsit hunted in the past would not dare to call themselves "demons" if they did not have the characteristics of "first stage of invincibility, second stage of transformation, third stage of area-of-effect damage with timed challenge, and if they are not killed in time, they will all be corrupted".

Feeling a little relieved, Kal'tsit wiped the bloodstains off the shards in her hands.

The fragments that caught her eye had a peculiar shape. Kal'tsit narrowed her eyes thoughtfully.

The more she looked at it, the more she felt that the fragment in front of her resembled a part of some kind of pipe she had seen before.

What is it?

Suddenly appearing in the northern border of Victoria, without triggering the first line of defense of humanity, its power was somewhat weaker than that of a true demon, and its whole body was shrouded in ominous black aura.

I get it, it's the little devil dragon!

I've mixed up the shows!

An incredible idea flashed through Kal'tsit's mind.

She might know the demon's true identity. In fact, she might have actually fought this "demon" eight years ago in the northern border of Victoria, and this fragment is a trophy she personally cut off from the "demon."

"Hiss—whoosh!"

Unconsciously, she uttered that familiar, chilling sound, like a gust of wind brushing past her ear, as Kal'tsit solemnly spoke that forbidden name.

"Ursus - [The Emperor's Blade]".

Chapter 92 If you keep doing this, I might take advantage of your vulnerability.

"What are you doing, Kal'tsit?"

When Wayne heard the commotion and rushed to the study, he saw Kal'tsit staring intently at the strange fragment in her hand, her expression grave. He couldn't recall Kal'tsit ever showing such an expression. This made Wayne feel uneasy. He glanced at the chaotic study and the blood-stained chamber inside, and asked:

"What happened?"

Kal'tsit raised her head, took a deep breath, and shook her head:

"It's nothing, just remembering a colleague."

Regardless of our positions or whether we have ever clashed, just like what Kal'tsit said to that Ursus guard on that snowy night eight years ago—as long as you and I are both acting towards the same goal, keeping evil from beyond the borders of humanity out of civilization, we are not enemies, but colleagues.

However, this colleague is now probably gone forever.

Even a small, broken fragment of the breathing tube still retained such a strong "demonic aura," making it easy to imagine how dire the guard's condition must be. Kelsey had no doubt that he had completely lost his self-awareness, abandoned his dignity and pride as a "human," and joined the side of the demons.

However, Kal'tsit didn't understand why he, who should have been fully capable of returning to Ursus from Victoria for rest, still died in a foreign land, without even making it out of the northern border of Victoria.

These long-buried memories require her to explore them slowly, but right now, her top priority is to find the inner guard who has fallen into madness and eliminate this former protector, now a demon.

She stood up, head bowed, and walked around Wayne towards the study door, saying softly:

"I have something to do and need to go out for a while. You stay here and don't move."

Wayne's lips twitched as he looked at Kal'tsit, inwardly thinking: "That lynx's words are so 'fatherly'." Just as he was about to ask what had happened, he heard the mon3tr floating in the study behind him suddenly let out a terrible cry and crash heavily to the ground. Before Wayne could react, Kal'tsit, who had already reached the door, suddenly clutched her chest, staggered a few steps, and fell to the ground with her left foot stepping on her right.

Fortunately, this time, Wayne reacted quickly enough to catch Kal'tsit, who was about to fall, and helped her up.

Unexpectedly, Kal'tsit's discomfort did not lessen. Her face was terribly pale, and her hands kept rummaging in the pockets of her body. Seeing this, Wayne did not say anything and immediately helped her.

The pants pockets were empty except for the packaging bag of a disposable medical glove.

There were some tissues and a cell phone in the outer pocket of her suit, but judging from Kal'tsit's expression, she definitely wasn't looking for that—if she were looking for that, then there was a big problem; she must be recording Theresa's last words.

Wayne's gaze fell on Kal'tsit's breast pocket. He was about to reach out when he glanced at Kal'tsit awkwardly. The lynx's face had lost its usual indifference; large beads of cold sweat trickled down its temples, leaving faint traces on its increasingly flushed cheeks.

Only then did Wayne notice that Kal'tsit's body temperature was rising rapidly, to the point that his arm, which was resting on her neck, was already burning hot. Noticing Wayne's gaze, the weakened Kal'tsit simply blinked silently, indicating her acquiescence.

Well, there's no point in hesitating now; saving lives is the priority.

Wayne reached out and rummaged through the pouch on Kal'tsit's chest, then pulled out a long, narrow object wrapped in a handkerchief.

Is it medicine?

He glanced at Kal'tsit, then, under the lynx's complicated gaze, peeled back the layers of the handkerchief, revealing the contents inside.

Wayne's expression instantly turned strange, and a question mark slowly appeared on his forehead.

He held up a cigarette of unknown brand, looked at Kal'tsit, and mumbled something for a long time before finally uttering a sentence he didn't know how he could say, but which truly represented his feelings at that moment:

"You look like you're about to die, does that mean you're craving a cigarette and want one?"

"Cough cough cough cough!" Kal'tsit suddenly burst into a violent coughing fit, glared at Wayne, snatched the handkerchief from Wayne's other hand, folded it into a long strip, and bit it in her mouth. Then, forcing herself to stand up, she took out a small packaged box from the inside of her suit, unpacked it, took out the medicine bottle inside, and handed it to Wayne.

"help me!"

She uttered those two words, then tore open the clothes on her right shoulder as if she were using all her strength. There, conspicuous Originium crystals were growing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

This is the price of using the command: [Melting]. mon3tr suffers the scythe-like melting, a pain so intense it would cause even an Originium behemoth to wail and fall to the ground. Kal'tsit, as mon3tr's symbiotic partner, naturally suffers the side effects of Originium life.

Acute spread of Oripathy!

Kal'tsit always carried Oripathy suppressant medication, just in case it came in handy, but she never expected the price to come so quickly and so violently that for a moment, her vision went black and she almost fainted.

Fortunately, this time, she wasn't alone. The man—Wayne—was right beside her. Although Kal'tsit had never liked Wayne, a power holder who was obviously full of bad intentions, and harbored resentment and prejudice against him because of Theresa's marriage to him, she had to admit that if Wayne hadn't been there to catch her when she almost fainted, it might not have been long before people entered the study and found only a corpse lying on the floor, crystallizing and on the verge of exploding.

She bit down hard on the handkerchief she held in her mouth. The pain from the injection of the Oripathy suppressant was no less than that of childbirth, but Kal'tsit didn't have the luxury of giving herself an anesthetic right now. She could only use this method to endure the pain and hoped that Wayne's injection technique would be better so that she wouldn't be in pain for too long.

But clearly, in her confused state, she didn't notice a very important point...

Wayne stared blankly at the small glass bottle Kal'tsit had given him. He looked down at Kal'tsit, who had her eyes tightly shut, ready to surrender and endure any pain—a pitiful sight. For a moment, he didn't know what to do.

Damn it, are you asking me to give you a shot?

What's the use of just giving me medicine? Give me the needle then!

Where am I supposed to find a needle for you? How can I give you an injection without a needle?

Wayne was completely stunned. Gritting his teeth, he simply stuffed the glass medicine bottle in his pocket, picked up Kal'tsit, and rushed to his room. He kicked open the door, threw the disheveled, bewildered Lynx onto the bed, and then, under Kal'tsit's gaze filled with a mixture of anger and despair as she looked at him as scum, pulled a box from the back of the closet.

There's no syringe for Viagra, but to stabilize acute exacerbations of Oripathy, there's something that works much better than suppressive drugs!

He opened the box, took out the Lock of Time, activated the mark in the staff, started Originium Arts, and then placed the Lock of Time on Kal'tsit's chest.

Um... I accidentally slipped and fell.

Kal'tsit, you're not very big to begin with. Promise me you won't bind your chest next time you wear a suit, okay?

Wayne picked up the staff and placed it again; this time, it held steady.

At the same time, the Originium crystal cluster growing on Kal'tsit's right shoulder also stabilized.

Only then did Wayne wipe away his sweat, breathe a sigh of relief, look at Kal'tsit, and pout:

"I saw it just now, you looked at me like that, you think I'm trying to take advantage of you, right?"

The pain was abruptly halted, and Kal'tsit let out a long sigh of relief. Hearing Wayne's question, she blushed and turned her head away.

Undeniably, in that state of confusion, she did have that thought. After all, she considered herself quite attractive, and she was at her weakest and least able to protect herself when suddenly carried to the bedroom and thrown onto the bed; it's understandable that she would have such thoughts.

But in reality, once things calmed down and I thought about it carefully, Wayne had no reason to do that at all.

After all, she was an Infected, while Wayne was the noble Aslan. Not to mention, her Oripathy had been rapidly worsening; if he wasn't careful, it wouldn't just be taking advantage of her vulnerability, but rather pressing his advantage further, risking secondary infection from the dust of an Infected corpse. It was certainly not a wise move.

He could even let Kal'tsit die, then blame it on the sudden appearance of a demon, and he was just a step too late to save her, leaving Theresa unable to find fault with him. He could also easily eliminate someone who had been monitoring him all along.

But he didn't.

He is fundamentally different from those schemers.

Perhaps he's not as bad as he thinks...

"What, are you silent now? Even if you don't apologize, at least tell me what happened, Kal'tsit."

Wayne pulled out a chair and sat down, asking casually. He didn't expect to hear a soft apology from this cold-faced lynx; he just wanted to know what had happened, what the secret room in the study was all about, and why she had suddenly become like that.

However, to Wayne's surprise, Kal'tsit on the bed blushed slightly, gently brushing her burning hair behind her ear with her fingers, and stammered somewhat hesitantly:

"Sorry...and thank you."

Wayne was taken aback, then a momentary smile of relief appeared on his face.

But the next moment, he spoke:

"Oh my, are you blushing?"

As if her tail had been stepped on, Kal'tsit trembled, her slightly flushed cheeks instantly turning dark, and she coldly cursed, "Get lost!"

"Before you leave, can you tell me what happened?"

Wayne nodded as he saw Kal'tsit's expression return to normal.

This strong expression suits you better, Kal'tsit. Don't show that weak look in front of me again next time. Otherwise, I might really take advantage of you.
