"Thank you," Chambers, pale-faced, also thanked him.
“You’re welcome.” Scott patted Roger on the shoulder twice, then pushed him away.
He strode forward and picked up a piece of debris from the flying broom from the ground.
“I think someone should go and inform our dean now,” he calmly suggested to the group. “The rest of you can collect these fragments and hand them over to Professor Flitwick for examination later.”
"Yes! That's right! We must find that bastard who's been secretly causing trouble!"
Bruce was the first to respond.
“Chu! Go! Go tell Professor Flitwick what happened here!” he said to Cho Chang. “Go on a broomstick, don’t worry about getting points deducted!”
"no problem!"
Qiu Zhang forced a smile, mounted his broom, and flew towards the castle.
“Now, let’s collect as many broom fragments as possible!” Bruce instructed the others. “Remember, don’t use magic! So as not to influence the professor’s judgment!”
Everyone responded and eagerly lay down on the grass to search.
What do you think?
Roger crouched down next to Scott and asked him softly.
"Have you calmed down yet?" Scott asked, still picking up the broom fragments with his head down. "Now that you've calmed down, do you realize that the matter itself wasn't as serious as Bruce made it out to be?"
Roger affirmed, "That's right. Now that I think about it, there were more than ten seconds between the black smoke coming out of the flying broom and the explosion. In that sense, the black smoke actually looks like a warning."
Scott said, "The guy who did it has some sense of propriety; he probably doesn't want to be locked up in Azkaban yet."
“Him?” Roger paused for a moment. “You seem to know something, Scott.”
“I don’t have any evidence right now,” Scott smiled, “but I’m confident that the evidence will be found soon.”
“Alright,” Roger sighed. “I believe you.”
"Are you all alright?"
Professor Flitwick's scream rang out.
Qiu Zhang and he descended from the sky on broomsticks.
"professor!"
"professor……"
The students immediately surrounded him and started talking all at once.
"Alright!" Professor Flitwick waved his hand. "Quiet down! Davis! Trollope! You two come here first!"
"Okay, Professor."
Scott and Roger stood up together and walked over to Professor Flitwick.
"Professor, these are fragments of Roger's broom."
Scott handed him a few slightly larger pieces of broom wrapped in a handkerchief.
“You did a great job, Scott!” Professor Flitwick reached out and took the fragments wrapped in the handkerchief. “You accurately sensed the problem with this broom and calmly used excellent spells and transfiguration to resolve the crisis!”
He waved his hand fiercely.
"For this, I'm giving Ravenclaw an extra fifty points!"
"Well done!"
Everyone else started cheering and clapping for Scott.
“Very good.” After the applause stopped, Professor Flitwick began to examine the broom fragments that everyone had collected.
He took out his wand and cast several different colored spells on the pile of fragments.
“It’s difficult,” he said almost to himself. “After all, the broom has been blown to pieces, so it’s hard to find out what tampering has been done to it.”
Although he said that, Scott and the others watched his actions intently, waiting for his conclusion without a doubt.
"Let me think about it."
Professor Flitwick pondered for a moment, then used several obscure spells in succession.
Scott carefully discerned the incantation he was reciting, then confirmed that he had never heard of it before.
"Very good, that's it!"
Professor Flitwick called out.
Scott could sense that the magic remaining on the pile of fragments was beginning to change.
“This is not caused by a curse, not any kind of dark magic curse.” Professor Flitwick stared intently as he examined the broom. “If I’m not mistaken, someone has tampered with this broom using a magical object that is afflicted with a powerful curse.”
Chapter 032 Conversation with Dumbledore
Magical items?
Scott looked down at the pile of debris on the ground.
The magical power of many magical items is not closely related to the magical power of their users, which undoubtedly increases the difficulty of finding the perpetrators.
Just then, a commotion arose outside the Quidditch pitch.
Scott looked up and saw Principal Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall walking over from the lawn outside the stadium, followed by a large group of students who were watching the spectacle.
Because the commotion just now was quite significant.
Not only did an explosion occur in the sky above the stadium, but then Cho Chang violated the ban by flying into the castle on a broomstick. Before anyone could react, she rushed into Professor Flitwick's office and flew out with him.
Now, most people at Hogwarts probably know that something big has happened on the Quidditch pitch.
"Felius," Dumbledore called out Professor Flitwick's name from afar, "What happened?"
"Oh, you've come!" Professor Flitwick turned around and waved repeatedly. "Albus, Minerva, come and see for yourselves."
Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall strode over and, following Professor Flitwick's directions, looked at the pile of wreckage on the ground.
"What is this?" Professor McGonagall's eyes widened in surprise. "A flying broomstick?"
Professor Flitwick nodded. "That's right, Davis's flying broom suddenly exploded just now. Luckily, Trollope noticed something was wrong with the broom beforehand."
Then, while recounting what had happened, he praised Scott profusely.
“Amazing.” Dumbledore winked at Scott. “May I call you Scott, Mr. Trollope?”
Scott gave him a polite smile. "Of course, Mr. Principal."
Dumbledore smiled and said, “Oh, boy, I hope you will call me Professor Dumbledore.”
He was very friendly to Scott. “I must say, I’ve heard of you before, Scott. You may not know this, but many professors have praised you in their conversations, especially Professor Flitwick and Professor McGonagall.”
Scott didn't put on any pretense of modesty or shyness; instead, he smiled confidently and said, "It's my honor."
Although this was his first conversation with Dumbledore, he understood perfectly well that it was unnecessary to pretend in front of the old man.
His intuition told him that the old man's bright blue eyes could easily see through most people's true nature. It wasn't mind-controlling magic, but rather experience, wisdom, and a perception of magic.
Scott himself has a deep understanding of the power of magic, especially the ability to perceive it.
"You are indeed an excellent student, and your actions in the face of the unexpected are commendable," Dumbledore remarked. "However, it's a pity that since Professor Flitwick has already added fifty points to your score, I cannot add any more."
He winked playfully at Scott before crouching down to examine the pile of flying broom fragments more closely.
"Have you found anything, Felius?" he asked Professor Frivi.
“It’s a magical item!” Professor Flitwick repeated his conclusion.
You're right.
Dumbledore picked up a wood shaving, rubbed it between his fingers, and then put his finger in his mouth amidst the students' astonished gazes.
"Hmm...it tastes like a curse." He smacked his lips, commenting as if he were tasting a candy.
Scott, watching this scene from the side, was also surprised.
Dumbledore always does unexpected things, no wonder some people think he's a crazy old man.
But Scott also understood that the greatest wizard of our time wouldn't do anything to attract attention.
Some of his behaviors may seem crazy and incomprehensible, but that's only because ordinary wizards simply cannot imagine his magical abilities.
However, Scott was not worried about his secret being exposed when he spoke face-to-face with Dumbledore.
Because magic is a kind of idealistic power.
He believed that what he had done to the three pure-blood witches was at best a prank. As long as his mind remained intact, Dumbledore would not see anything amiss.
He even felt that black magic was the same way, and that a wizard with a strong mind would not be easily affected by black magic.
He didn't believe Dumbledore didn't know a few tricks of dark magic. He just probably hadn't studied it in depth.
It's hard to say who was stronger in terms of magic alone, but Scott felt that Dumbledore's mind was definitely much stronger than Voldemort's.
"How could this happen!"
Eddie then squeezed through the crowd.
"Roger, it looks like you'll need to buy a new flying broomstick!" he teased Roger.
“Maybe this is a good thing?” Roger laughed too. “It means I don’t have to make excuses to ask my dad for the Galleons to buy the broom.”
"What kind of broom are you planning to get?" Eddie leaned closer to Roger. "How about the Nimbus 2001?"
“I don’t think my dad would be that generous.”
Roger and Eddie exchanged a few jokes, and Roger seemed to be in a better mood.
Just then, Dumbledore stood up.
“Mr. Davis,” he asked Roger, “I’d like to know, where did you put your flying broom before this?”
“Keep it in the dorm, Professor,” Roger replied.
Professor Flitwick said, "I need to go see your dorm room, Davis."
“Go ahead, I’ve already heard some of the information,” Dumbledore said kindly. “But I trust your Professor Flitwick will handle this.”
He stretched and said contentedly, "As for me, sorry, it's my regular afternoon tea time now."
