Professor McGonagall looked at him disapprovingly, "Albus!"
“Oh, don’t worry, Minerva,” Dumbledore smiled easily. “We just need to wait for the results.”
“Alright, I hope you’re right, Albus,” Professor McGonagall conceded.
“Let’s go, we might find some clues in your dorm rooms.” Professor Flitwick led his students out of the stadium.
By this time, most of the students who weren't in class had probably already gathered here. The atmosphere on the field was almost as lively as a formal Quidditch match.
The incident had already spread among the students, who were all discussing the flying broom explosion.
Scott and his group followed Professor Flitwick through the crowd, as if they were being welcomed on all sides.
Hey! Roger!
Fred and George squeezed to the front of the crowd.
Fred waved with a grin, "Luckily, that flying broom didn't blow your butt to smithereens!"
"Hey!" Roger glared at them fiercely. "Don't tell me that was your prank!"
“Of course not us!” George stared with an innocent expression.
“If it were us…” Fred stroked his chin, his eyes lighting up.
“We won’t let the brooms smoke,” George continued. “If the broom explodes, it’ll just rip your pants!”
“That’s it!” Fred gave a thumbs up. “That’s a great idea. Thank you, Roger!”
"Two gloating bastards!"
Roger no longer wanted to pay attention to them and stormed off.
Chapter 033 Shameless Lockhart and Lady Grey
Led by Professor Flitwick, Scott and his group returned to Ravenclaw.
However, when they climbed the spiral staircase, they found Lockhart standing neatly dressed outside the common room door.
"Oh! Shit!" Roger immediately muttered a curse under his breath.
"You're back, Philius!"
Lockhart's eyes lit up when he saw them, and he smiled broadly at Professor Flitwick.
“I felt the call of duty. They need me here, a defense expert against dark magic. You know, no one is better at dealing with this than me! So I'm here waiting!”
He raised his chin proudly, as if waiting for Professor Flitwick to ask for his help.
Professor Flitwick's expression was like that of someone who had stepped in a steaming pile of dog poop.
The professor was probably in a terrible mood because of the series of accidents that had befallen Ravenclaw students in the past two days. He was no longer able to maintain his composure when facing that annoying Lockhart.
"This is an internal matter for Ravenclaw, Professor Lockhart," Professor Flitwick said coldly to Lockhart. "I believe I am the Head of the House, and Dumbledore has entrusted this matter to me!"
“Don’t say that, Felius.” Lockhart’s expression stiffened for a moment, then he forced a smile. “Have you forgotten? I’m also a Ravenclaw graduate.”
“Yes, you used to be.” Professor Flitwick looked up at him coldly, “but you are no longer.”
Before Lockhart could say anything more, he continued, "Your help is not needed here, Lockhart. No one other than a student of the house and the Dean has ever been allowed into the Ravenclaw common room!"
Despite being two wizards of vastly different heights, the tall Lockhart was intimidated by the imposing presence of the short Professor Flitwick.
He changed his mind almost immediately.
“Alright. You’re right, Felius. We can’t break the Ravenclaw tradition.”
In the crowd, Eddie muttered gloatingly, "Mrs. Pomfrey went in yesterday."
The students nearby who heard him muttering all curled up their lips.
Lockhart was still trying to save face.
"Of course, be sure to let me know if you need any help! Please remember, a third-class Merlin Order member and honorary member of the Anti-Dark Magic Alliance is ready to serve you!"
He gave a perfunctory bow before leaving, ignoring Professor Flitwick's increasingly annoyed gaze.
But when he passed Scott, he stopped and quickly said something.
"Oh, Trollope, you did a fantastic job today, didn't you? You really stole the show. But I think there's still some room for improvement; perhaps you'll need guidance from a senior person."
"..."
Scott glanced at him with surprise. Lockhart's feigned friendly expression changed, and he finally turned and left completely.
Scott watched his departing figure with indifferent eyes, and couldn't help but marvel at his shamelessness.
“How dare he!” Roger said viciously. “He actually called himself an expert in front of Professor Flitwick!”
“That’s nothing. You know, he did a lot of stupid things to attract attention back in his student days,” Eddie boasted, showing off the information he had gathered.
Unfortunately, at this point, no one was interested in Lockhart's old news.
Scott nudged his shoulder. "Come on, the lounge door is open."
“Okay, we’ll talk about that later.” Eddie shrugged regretfully.
Upon entering the common room, Professor Flitwick first found the ghost lady wandering in the common room library.
“Ms. Grey!” he greeted her politely.
“Felius?” Ms. Grey, who had been facing the bookshelf, turned around and looked at Professor Flitwick and the students gathered together.
Her expression was indifferent, but there was a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
"What happened?" she asked indifferently.
“Oh, I see.” Professor Flitwick recounted what had happened on the field.
“I know what you want to ask.” Ms. Grey shook her head. “I can tell you, no. No one from outside the Academy has ever entered here.”
Roger asked anxiously, "Then did you see, I mean, who entered our dormitory?"
“I don’t care about male student dormitories,” Ms. Gray said coldly, looking at him.
"Okay... alright," Roger said weakly. "Thank you for your explanation."
"I'm going to continue reading."
Ms. Gray turned back to stare at the bookshelves, seemingly no longer wanting to pay attention to them.
"Alright, let's not bother Ms. Gray anymore."
Professor Flitwick said he waved to the other Ravenclaw students who were following behind the group.
"Everyone else, please disperse."
But the students all stood still and didn't move.
"Alright, alright, you can wait for the results here, but don't all crowd into Davis's dorm room," Professor Flitwick said helplessly.
“Davis, take me to your dorm room.” He beckoned to Roger.
"Please follow me, Professor."
Roger took the lead up the stairs to the male students' dormitory, with Professor Flitwick following behind him.
Scott and his roommates followed. As for the Quidditch team members, Captain Bruce stopped the others and came along by himself.
Scott walked last, turning back as he stepped onto the stairs, his gaze precisely fixed on Jacob in the crowd of people in the common room.
At that moment, Jacob, who was standing alone in the corner, was also watching him.
Their eyes met, and Jacob quickly looked away.
Scott curled his lips into a smile, then turned and walked up the stairs.
“Actually, I went back to my dorm before going to the Quidditch pitch,” he told the others. “But I just hurriedly put down my textbooks and left without noticing anything unusual.”
"Actually, everyone probably already guessed it," Eddie muttered with a strange expression. "The only people who can get into our dorm room are Ravenclaw students."
“Oh no, you can’t say that, Eddie.”
Milton looked somewhat dazed; he seemed completely unable to accept such a conjecture.
“Or…maybe someone else broke in and did it without Ms. Gray noticing. After all, the question about the eagle-shaped door knocker…isn’t actually that difficult.” He said this with his face scrunched up, clearly uncomfortable with the idea.
“Accept reality, Milton,” Eddie sighed, trying to sound mature.
The group entered the dormitory, and Professor Flitwick, guided by Roger, began to examine the rectangular wooden box where he kept his Quidditch supplies.
“This is it, Professor,” Roger said. “My Quidditch uniform, gauntlets, boots, and flying broom are usually kept in this box.”
Scott also moved closer.
He hadn't noticed it when he came back to put away his textbooks earlier, but now, upon closer inspection, he immediately noticed something was amiss.
Chapter 034 Finding a Clue, The Absurd Roger
"A perfectly timed cutting spell."
Professor Flitwick crouched down and reached out to touch the broken part of the lock on the wooden box.
“Although the thing that destroyed the flying broom was a magical item that is difficult to trace,” he withdrew his hand, “fortunately, there are obvious clues left here.”
He turned to Roger and asked, "Did you use the Anti-Arameanor Opening Charm on the box?"
Roger nodded. "Yes, I added it casually while practicing this spell."
Captain Bruce, who was even taller than Roger, was standing to the side, bending down to look at the box. Hearing this, he couldn't help but say, "You've taken much better precautions to protect your broom than I have, Roger."
“But obviously it’s useless. Although I didn’t use this spell intentionally.” Roger said with a helpless expression.
“I just want to know how you got caught, Roger.” Bruce looked at the broken lock on the box again. “Didn’t you notice that your box had been damaged when you took out the equipment?”
"No, I was probably in too much of a hurry," Roger said with some annoyance. "When I was putting the books away, I casually used a spell to open the box and summoned my broom and equipment with a summoning charm."
Bruce said to Roger with dissatisfaction, "So the reason this clumsy crime was able to succeed is because of your carelessness."
“You didn’t use that spell on the dormitory door.” At this moment, Professor Flitwick glanced back at the intact dormitory door.
“Oh yes, we think the dorms are safe,” Eddie couldn’t help but reply. “You know, this is Ravenclaw territory…”
Milton reached out and nudged Eddie, making him stop talking.
