At the very least, he should be able to watch his daughter grow up, shouldn't he?
"Ding~"
While Diana was deep in thought, the elevator reached the top floor.
Stepping out of the elevator, I was thinking of giving my taste buds a refreshing treat, when I saw Gugu, who was now bristling with anger.
"Looks like we have a guest." Diana followed Gugu's gaze to the person who was shamelessly drinking the many famous wines in her wine cabinet that she couldn't even name.
"I must say, humanity has made great progress even without our leadership; at least these wines are quite good," the man in the golden Greek armor said to Diana. "What I didn't expect was that after so many years away from Earth, a new god of ours would emerge."
“I, this new god, might not be very friendly to you.” Diana didn’t care about the things that had been drunk, but she was quite interested in this guy who had suddenly appeared.
After all, they felt the same power.
"Are you my child? Or a human who accidentally stole our divine authority?" The golden-armored man stood up, his eyes gleaming with a unique divine light.
But it only made Diana feel that this guy was bluffing.
"Let me guess, who did you borrow this ability from?" Diana didn't take this person seriously at all. She simply walked back to the refrigerator where the ice cream was kept and took out a box of ice cream.
"Mmm, that's good." Diana continued, savoring a bite of the cool, delicious treat.
"The God of War will not lend power to mortals. Of course, if it's like the person I know, he will come down in person, so Ares is out of the question."
“If it were a god who has received a blessing from me, they wouldn’t come to see me like this, so pass.”
“Most of the twelve Olympian gods wouldn’t have the time to come see me, except for one guy.” Diana sat on the sofa eating ice cream, completely ignoring the gradually increasing divine power emanating from the golden-armored man.
"Zeus".
The divine power that the golden-armored man had been continuously dissipating began to be drawn back into his body.
"It seems I was right."
"It seems you are my child." The man in golden armor said to Diana, no longer engaging in any tricks involving the dissipation of divine power; it was just a very ordinary conversation between the two of them.
"Don't say such things while wearing a human doll's body. I've never considered myself Zeus's daughter." Diana knew nothing about Zeus, and besides, she had beaten her nominal father more than once or twice in another world.
"If you don't want to be my daughter, then don't use your divine power!" Zeus, through this body, issued this message to Diana.
“You can’t take away my power.” Diana shook her head at Zeus. “Even if you were Zeus from my world, he wouldn’t have been able to restrain me long ago.”
"You!" The man in golden armor was about to say something more.
But Diana simply waved her hand, and the golden armor on the poor man vanished, revealing his original clothes.
"This is impossible..." The man looked at his hands, completely unable to believe what he was experiencing.
Even though Zeus had already descended upon him, why was he being casually touched by this woman eating ice cream? That was Zeus, the king of the gods.
"The high table?" Diana noticed that the man in front of her had the same feeling as the mainland hotel staff she had met before, that seamless blend of order and darkness.
The man was still deeply shocked and didn't hear what Diana was saying at all.
Diana didn't mind; she simply put down her ice cream and made a phone call.
Chapter 54 Visit from the Mainland Hotel
The man finally came to his senses, slumped to the ground, and stared blankly at Diana.
Diana finished the call before the man came to his senses; though it was called a call, it was really just to ask Fisker to come over.
In an instant, the golden lasso of truth bound the man's upper body tightly. The man felt his upper body being bound tightly, and a slight burning sensation came from the golden lasso of truth.
"Did the High Table send you?" Diana asked the man, gripping the Lasso of Truth.
The man didn't want to speak at first, but the burning sensation from the Lasso of Truth and the scorching heat that invaded his mind forced him to speak: "No, it was the God-King who said he wanted to see you, so he sent me as his representative."
The moment he spoke the truth, the burning sensation from the Lasso of Truth had already mostly disappeared.
"Where is the High Table?" Diana couldn't believe that someone like the Dark Council wouldn't be unaware of her collaboration with Fisk to bring him into the High Table.
"The High Table is merely observing the situation; even the agents of the gods cannot currently enter the High Table's highest council," the man replied to Diana's question. Although Diana had only uttered four words, the man now wished he could tell the woman before him everything he knew.
"To put it bluntly, you are spies of the gods. Why would the highest meeting of the human organization allow you in?" Diana knew very well what these people were thinking. It was simply that the gods hadn't paid attention to their affairs for too long, and they had gradually stopped revering the gods.
Isn't that how it is?
No one can escape this law: get too close and they become disrespectful; keep your distance and they resent you.
That's the logic.
You can kill ninety-nine bad people, but if even one person who isn't a bad person gets caught in the crossfire, then you are a sinner.
Diana had no interest in the power struggles within the High Table; she had only one goal: to make Fisker a new member of the High Table.
Diana gave the Lasso of Truth a gentle shake, and the golden lasso left the man, leaving only the trembling man in the suit.
"No, you're not going to ask anymore?" The man was somewhat incredulous. They were just letting him go so easily? He had only asked two trivial questions, and they had already stopped interrogating him?
"What's there to ask about a nobody?" Diana looked at the ice cream that had melted into a puddle, feeling a little disappointed.
"Then can't I leave?" the man asked Diana as he stood up.
Diana shook her head: "You'll have to stay here a little longer. Someone will take you away." Diana picked up the ice cream that was no longer edible, threw it into the trash bag, and then went to the kitchen to make something to eat.
The man couldn't understand why Diana had just abandoned him like that; he could have escaped at any time as long as he could reconnect with the God-King.
The man closed his eyes, about to begin communicating, when he heard Diana's voice.
“By the way,” Diana said, poking her head out of the kitchen, “I hope you didn’t try to communicate with that old Zeus. I not only erased his consciousness from you, but I also severed the connection between the two of you.”
The man opened his eyes and looked at Diana in horror.
Seeing the man's expression, Diana realized that he had tried after all: "Looks like you've tried. It's okay, you'll believe it after a few more failures."
After speaking, Diana resumed her great undertaking in the kitchen. After all, she was a bit tired from the press conference today, so she wanted to treat herself to a delicious meal.
Although Diana was telling the truth, the problem is that people who have always been involved in the dark world are inherently incapable of wholeheartedly trusting others.
The man closed his eyes again, trying to communicate with the Greek gods once more, but he soon realized that Diana was right; he had completely lost the ability to communicate with the gods.
He was like a mudfish pulled out of the water, collapsing to the ground.
"Ring ring..."
At that moment, Diana's visitor phone rang.
"Hello." Wiping her hands, Diana ignored the man who looked like a rotten fish and answered the phone.
"Hello, Miss Prince, three people claiming to be your friends have come to visit you," the receptionist said cautiously. "The one leading them is named Winston."
Diana didn't hesitate; she simply told the receptionist that the three people were indeed her friends before hanging up.
The receptionist looked at the three men in front of her. Winston reminded her of an old-fashioned English gentleman, but the other two men he was with didn't look like good people at all.
"May we visit Miss Prince now?" Winston asked with a gentle smile, as he always seemed, never once showing any sign of alarm.
"Yes, yes. Miss Prince has granted you permission to visit."
“Thank you.” Winston tipped his hat to the receptionist and then led the three people behind him to the elevator that led directly to Diana’s apartment.
After hanging up the phone, Diana kicked the rotten fish lying on the ground.
"Someone will pick you up soon." After saying that, Diana went back into the kitchen.
The man on the ground, whose eyes had been lifeless, slowly regained some of their sparkle. Perhaps he no longer wanted to be just a puppet-like agent of the gods.
He wanted to enter the high table, the real high table.
A bold yet feasible method came to his mind.
"Ding!"
The elevator arrived at Diana's apartment, and Winston and his entourage appeared before the man.
“Mr. Antonio.” Winston bowed slightly to the man lying on the ground and then remained still, waiting for Diana to appear.
Diana had no time to care about Winston and the others; her feast was almost finished, and that was something more important.
After all, she was actually quite lazy. As a child, she was interested in training, but not so much in other things like cooking.
But because she was old enough, the food she could make was still somewhat comparable to that of top chefs from around the world. After all, she had lived long enough.
If you live long enough, even the most difficult things will gradually become easier... except for math problems.
Now, she basically won't cook unless she has to, and she'll only cook for herself occasionally when the food outside just doesn't suit her taste.
While Diana was preparing her feast, Winston stood calmly in the living room, showing no sign of being threatened or intimidated.
As the manager of the Continental Hotel in New York, he had seen all sorts of people; now he was simply meeting a god who truly lived among men. Moreover, this god appeared before everyone in an upright manner, so there was no need to worry about him suddenly launching a murderous attack.
In a sense, the place where they are standing now is much safer than the hotels on the mainland.
The man on the ground also got up, but like Winston, he chose to wait for the man to come out of the kitchen.
Even though they all knew that the other party was their mission, no one dared to make any rash moves.
until...
Chapter 55 Zeus in Action
"Hello, Winston." Diana came out of the kitchen carrying a plate of stir-fry.
“It is a great honor to be at Miss Prince’s home.” Winston tipped his hat to Diana.
“You’ll probably have to wait a little longer for me, I need to get a bowl of rice,” Diana said with a gentle smile to Winston.
Winston maintained his composed demeanor: "No problem, please go ahead."
As Diana turned and went into the kitchen, the man who had been ignored slowly said to Winston, "It seems you knew about her all along."
“Uh… it’s not just us, but also the Norwegian side.” Winston pondered for a moment. “The Norwegian side was the first to know about this lady, after all, she’s a guest who holds the Odin Coin.”
Winston wouldn't hide anything from the person in front of him. Even though he might have lost his identity as the Agent, as a member of the Antonio family, all the Continental Hotels would still keep it from him.
Who told him he was one of the twelve families of the High Table?
“It seems that sometimes, you really do need to interact with more people,” the man said to Winston after a moment’s thought.
Winston just smiled and didn't respond to the man's words.
Diana, who had gone to serve the rice, also came out. Noticing the subtle change in the atmosphere between Winston and the man, Diana knew that their words just now probably had different meanings.
