Headlines like "Tony Stark gets beaten up after fighting with someone over a girl" are readily available.

“Don’t worry, I don’t have any tabloid reporters’ contact information.” Diana put away her phone. “I just sent this beautiful picture of you to Pepper.”

"Pepper?"

“I believe Pepper will take good care of you when you get back,” Diana said kindly, patting Tony on the shoulder.

Tony didn't mind letting Pepper know his embarrassing state; Pepper had seen all sorts of terrible things about him, so this was nothing to him. The problem was, this was different from the previous situations; he'd actually been beaten up like this.

"I'm probably going to get a lecture when I get back." Tony's head started to ache just thinking about what Pepper would do to him—a non-physical headache.

Tony thought this, but he still walked into the house. He wanted to check on the younger twin: "If I'm going to get beaten up again, please get me out of there. What's with getting beaten up by a little kid?"

But Diana stopped Tony from going inside: "You need to give them some time. Now is not the time for you to go in. That child will tear you to pieces."

Tony was clearly shocked by Diana's words; he couldn't imagine that the little girl in the room could do what Diana was talking about. But the person who said those words was Diana!

This woman doesn't lie; otherwise, she wouldn't be called the Goddess of Truth. Her statement that she could tear herself apart is essentially true.

"Okay, I'll wait here for a bit." Tony scratched his head sheepishly and decided to wait outside.

We've already taken a beating, what's a little waiting?

Diana was actually quite surprised that Tony would listen to her. It was almost a fairy tale that a grown-up rebellious youth would listen to someone else.

"Tell me the truth, did that brat Pietro knock your brains out? Tell me you're okay so I can give Pepper a heads-up and see if there's any highly skilled neurosurgeon." Diana wanted to touch Tony's forehead to see if he had a fever or if Pietro had really driven him to schizophrenia.

Tony took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. He could only suppress his anger, telling himself that he couldn't beat this woman, he couldn't...

Only then did he slowly suppress the anger welling up in his chest.

Diana leaned against the door, admiring Tony's extremely awkward expression—it was her masterpiece, and worth a good look.

"Where's that fat guy?" Tony knew he couldn't continue talking to Diana about this topic, so he quickly changed the subject.

"He's gone to the high table." Diana wasn't worried at all that Fisk might cause any trouble at the high table.

Or rather, the people who are least likely to cause Fisk trouble are the rest of the group at the high table.

After all, the guy who attacked Fisk is now probably fertilized in that field.

“Aren’t you going to check it out? What do they have, Agents? That weird name doesn’t sound like someone to mess with,” Tony said, arms crossed.

"I believe everything will be fine," Diana said, still maintaining her calm and composed demeanor.

Chapter 77 The High Table That Never Appears in the Sunlight

Just as Diana and Tony were waiting for the two little ones inside to finish their heart-to-heart talk, the country bumpkin from New York City arrived at the reserved spot at the high table.

“Wilson Fisk.” A woman draped in animal fur sat in the head chair and gestured for Fisk to sit down.

Fisk didn't suspect anything, calmly sat down, and began to look around the room.

The high dome and twelve marble Roman columns are adorned with various reliefs, all depicting deities from different systems. There are no opulent decorations or extravagant elements. Like a fine wine in a cellar, it may not have a striking appearance, but it possesses an intoxicating aroma.

"Is this the high table?" Fisk asked the woman in the lead with a smile.

“That’s right, this is the high table.” The woman nodded, opening her arms as if to embrace the whole area.

Fisk placed his hands on the table: "I never imagined that the famous High Table would look like this."

To be honest, this was quite different from the high table Fisk had imagined. Although he didn't think that such an organization needed any fancy decorations, it shouldn't be as plain as it was now.

The woman in the lead simply smiled and said, "When I first took over my father's position, I was also curious as to why it was different from what I had imagined." The woman stood up and slowly walked to the Roman column behind her.

Fisk simply watched quietly as the woman prepared to do what she was going to do.

“Until my father showed me the differences here. And I believe that everyone here, except you who just arrived, knows this.” The woman touched the Roman column.

The reliefs on the Roman columns, which were originally lifeless objects, suddenly came to life and stepped down from the columns.

No.

After taking a closer look at the thing that had come down from the Roman column, Fisk retracted his previous idea.

Although he was just an ordinary human, he had seen quite a few things around Diana. At least the thing that was walking down from the Roman column was of the same nature as the full-body shield that Diana had given him at the airport.

It was nothing but an inanimate object created by divine power.

The woman was somewhat surprised that Fisk recovered his composure so quickly, but considering that this man had actually seen a god, she was relieved: "As expected of someone who has been by the side of a god, such petty tricks can't impress you, can they?"

Fisk shook his head and said, "I've only seen this kind of thing before, so I can accept its existence quickly."

The woman then touched the Roman column again, and the thing that had come down from the column returned to it.

Her eyes remained fixed on the object returning to the Roman column before she returned to her seat: "I haven't introduced myself yet, High Table—Gianna Antonio."

"What about them?" Fisk nodded to indicate that he understood, then looked around at the other elders at the high table and asked.

The other elders made no attempt to introduce themselves, simply sitting there quietly, seemingly ignoring Fisk completely.

Jaina simply smiled and said, "They weren't trying to intimidate you; they just can't accept that a family position that has been passed down for thousands of years has been taken by you."

Fisk didn't care why the other elders at the High Table were unwilling to communicate with him; his only goal was to enter the High Table and this Dark Council.

Become a member of this dark council.

Now, he has done it.

"So, what does the one behind you want the High Table to do?" Jaina now revealed the High Table elders' purpose.

They didn't care who died, nor did they care who took their place.

However, it is important to know what the person behind this replacement wants the High Table to do; they must know why such an entity must allow someone to join the High Table.

“She’s not interested in you,” Fisk answered the elders at the High Table truthfully. After all, joining the High Table was Wilson Fisk’s wish. It was just that the big shots behind the High Table had become Diana’s targets.

Jaina clearly didn't quite believe Fisk's words. No one joins an organization without a purpose, especially the creator of such underground rules.

unless...

Jaina stared at Fisk in shock: "Her target is the gods!?"

As soon as Jaina finished speaking, the elders at the high tables, as if injected with a stimulant, simultaneously raised their heads to look at Fisk.

After all, this kind of thing is far beyond their comprehension.

The high tables are products of the gods, and are also always subject to them. Spreading faith does not require the existence of high tables; they serve only one purpose: to act as scavengers for the gods, doing the dirty work.

Fisk simply smiled and said, "It's a deal between us: she sees the gods, and I see the people."

The high table had no idea that it was never the goddess's ultimate target, but rather that they were the goddess's channel to contact the gods of various systems as quickly as possible.

This might be a classic case of "when the city gate catches fire, the fish in the moat suffer." In fact, these fish in the moat are the ones who jump out and end up as the ones getting roasted.

When Jaina learned of this, she showed no fear, no tension, and not even a trace of worry.

Fisk, on the contrary, saw excitement in the woman's eyes, an emotion that was completely impossible to conceal.

Jaina was indeed deeply excited and thrilled. If that goddess were to take action against the gods, the High Table would be the first to benefit, since for thousands of years, the High Table had always been bound to the gods.

Even though the feeling of being bound has lessened considerably, it's still like a sword hanging over everyone's heads, ready to fall and take everyone's lives.

How could she not be excited that someone could remove the sword hanging over her head?

Fisk was somewhat moved by Jaina's excitement. A blade that the gods had always demanded be hidden could now be fully revealed to the world, basking in the sunlight—what an immense temptation!

But Fisk still said, "The high table will never be in the sunlight."

Jaina was about to refute Fisk's words when she understood what Fisk meant.

Many of the things they do cannot be known to others; without the protection of the gods, they dare to appear in the sunlight.

As long as people know that they no longer have that terrible divine agent, they will be delicious prey.

That would only provoke something far more terrifying than a jackal, which would devour them.

A high table is something that can only exist in the darkness; if it appears in the sunlight, it will only turn to ashes.

“It seems we have a lot to talk about,” Jaina said to Fisk.

“Yes, a lot of things,” Fisk replied to Jaina with a smile.

Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 78

As the title suggests, it's about to be released.

To be honest, I've never written a launch message before, and I don't have much experience with that.

Many readers have probably noticed that Cake is just a newbie; this is Cake's first book, and I'm actually quite satisfied with the result.

People have left comments, given me votes, and there have been readers who have consistently given me tips. I'm truly happy. Many people have also given me a lot of helpful suggestions, which I find very interesting. I'm very grateful to everyone for reading my book.

Strictly speaking, the initial intention of this book was simply for me to write a story about Diana for my own amusement. But I never expected that it would be published so soon, and I'm actually a little excited.

There are actually no drafts for the cake; it's basically written on the fly every day, so the update schedule is extremely unpredictable.

I will try my best to correct this problem in the future.

I also want to thank my editor for picking up such a newbie like me, hahaha.

I'm also very grateful to all the readers who have been following the story. Thank you so much! Thanks! (ω?)ノ

It's about to be released, please give it a first order! I don't have many other requests, hehe.

I just hope everyone can enjoy watching it.

Many thanks.

Thank you, and thank you to all the book lovers who joined the group.

Finally, I would like to thank the readers who have been supporting the book with cakes and the generous donor who has been giving rewards: Nine-Tailed Flame Fox.

Chapter 79 A Strange Feeling

Pietro didn't use his abilities this time; he simply walked calmly to the door.

“My sister wants to see you,” Pietro said, not to Tony, but to Diana who was standing beside him.

"Me?" Diana was also somewhat confused as to why the little guy wanted to see her instead of Tony Stark, whom he had always wanted to kill.

Tony was also confused. Logically speaking, shouldn't he be the one to meet? Why was it suddenly someone else?
