The incredibly powerful Valkyrie Deadpool, along with the dragon spear in her hand, was instantly reduced to the finest dust and vanished into the air, like a cookie crushed by an invisible force.
Having done all this, she looked at Odin again, tilting her head. "Alright, the reminiscing is over. Are you going to take your toy soldiers and get out of here on your own? Or do you want to try and see how much power this puppet can wield on my turf?"
Chapter 203 How About Each Taking a Step Back?
Gray mist surged, and the dead wailed. Odin's ancient, oppressive aura clashed fiercely with Jormungandr's sharp, opposing force on the wasteland. The air seemed to freeze, suffocating the heavily injured Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang.
"Get lost? Jormungandr, you seem to have forgotten who the true ruler is." Odin's deep voice carried a hint of anger as he slowly raised Gungnir, its tip aimed at Xia Mi below. The fluctuations in the distorted space intensified, as if it could tear everything apart at any moment.
"The Overlord? The Overlord who hides behind a puppet and spouts threats?" Jormungandr sneered. "If your true form dared to come here, my brother could smash you into the earth's core with a single claw! Too bad, you only dare to send a projection to peek over the head. You're really getting more and more outdated!"
Without any earth-shattering fanfare, Jormungandr simply raised his right hand, pointed it towards Odin, and gently pressed it down!
boom!
As if the entire earth itself was stirred by her press, the ground around Odin and a large area around him suddenly collapsed. It wasn't a physical collapse, but a spatial collapse. Countless gray energy tentacles, like death itself, surged wildly from the collapse, coiling around Odin and his eight-legged steed.
This is the absolute control of "force" by the king of the earth and mountains.
Odin's eight-legged steed let out a painful neigh, and the space beneath its hooves became incredibly viscous, sinking into an endless quagmire. It struggled desperately, dark blue necromantic flames rising from its body, trying to resist the crushing force of the space and the entanglement of death's tentacles.
"A mere trick!" Odin sneered, and Gungnir did not thrust forward, but instead slammed down on the ground!
hum!
A dark golden halo radiated from the tip of the spear, forcibly stabilizing the collapsing space in its path. The gray tentacles of death melted and disintegrated like snow meeting the blazing sun.
"Oh? You've improved a bit, not as easily defeated as last time." Jormungandr said casually, but his actions were decisive. He disappeared and reappeared above and to the side of Odin.
His hands were covered in a fine layer of dragon scales, his nails became incredibly sharp, and his fingers, held together like knives, pierced Odin's one-eyed face with a shrill shriek that seemed to tear through space. The speed was beyond the limits of visual perception.
Odin's reaction was equally astonishingly fast. He raised his free left hand and grabbed Jormungandr's wrist. The palm covered in divine armor collided with the wrist covered in dragon scales, and terrifying shockwaves spread out from the point of impact, instantly turning several nearby Dead Servants into dust.
"Is this all the strength you have, sister?" Odin's voice, tinged with cold mockery, came through the mask.
He exerted force with all five fingers, trying to crush Jormungandr's wrist.
However, Jormungandr's arm remained motionless; his seemingly slender wrist contained terrifying power at the level of a dragon king.
“Of course not!” Jormungandr sneered, twisting the wrist that had been grabbed, and reaching out with his other hand, his target Odin’s mask.
Odin hadn't expected her strength to be so formidable, and his parry was slightly delayed.
scoff!
Jormungandr's sharp fingertips forcefully tore a huge gash in Odin's cold metal mask, then ripped the upper half of it off.
The mask shattered and flew everywhere, revealing what lay beneath.
A bottomless vortex. At its center, a cold, merciless eye seems to gaze upon the outside world, filled with inhuman indifference and divine majesty. This is not a real "face" at all, but rather a projection of power.
"Tsk, as expected, it's just a puppet, not even a decent face." Jormungandr had anticipated this, his tone filled with undisguised disappointment and disdain. "How boring."
Odin was utterly enraged. The vortex spun, and Gungnir erupted with an unprecedentedly brilliant light. The entire Gray Mist Wasteland began to tremble, and countless undead servants let out shrill howls as their power was forcibly drawn and converged upon Odin.
"Jormungandr, you have angered the might of God."
Terrifying energy gathered at the tip of Gungnir's spear, ready to unleash a world-destroying attack in the next moment!
On the other side, Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang, who were lying on the ground with serious injuries, watched with trepidation.
"Holy crap," Lu Mingfei stammered, coughing up blood, and whispered to Chu Zihang beside him, "Senior brother, this is like gods fighting! Xia Mi, is she really that fierce?"
Chu Zihang was in slightly better condition, but he was also at his last gasp. He stared intently at the battlefield, especially at Xia Mi's hands covered in dragon scales and her petite figure that unleashed terrifying power. His golden eyes were filled with complex emotions.
Shock, realization, and the stinging pain of being deceived. It turns out she'd been hiding all along; this was her true face.
“Odin seems hesitant, or unable, to fully unleash his power,” Chu Zihang analyzed in a low voice, enduring the excruciating pain. “After all, this is Nibelungen, the land of the kings of earth and mountains. Xia Mi and Jormungandr have the advantage of terrain.”
"So, who will win?" Lu Mingfei was more concerned about this, as it concerned their lives.
"I don't know," Chu Zihang slowly shook his head. "Odin is preparing for a full-force attack."
Faced with Gungnir, which was brimming with terrifying energy and poised to destroy everything at any moment, Jormungandr suddenly withdrew and retreated, landing back on the ground and dusting off non-existent dust from his hands.
"Alright, alright, who are you trying to scare?" she said lazily, waving her hand. "The energy reserves of your puppet aren't enough to support you unleashing that level of attack, are they? Forcibly draining the life force of those toy soldiers? Even if you managed to unleash it, the puppet would be useless. Is it worth it for such a small thing, old man?"
This exposed Odin's bluff.
The terrifying energy surge at the tip of Gungnir's spear paused for a moment, then slowly receded like a tide. The gaze from behind the vortex was fixed on Xia Mi, filled with icy rage.
Jormungandr was right. If they were to fight her head-on here, who had the advantage of terrain, this meticulously prepared puppet would likely be destroyed, resulting in a net loss.
“Very well,” Odin’s deep voice rang out again, filled with suppressed anger. “Jormungandr, we will meet again soon.”
"At that time, I hope you will still be as sharp-tongued as ever."
Having said that, he didn't linger. He pulled on the reins, and his eight-legged steed let out a long neigh and turned its head.
The boundless gray fog and the army of undead around him retreated rapidly in the direction he had come from, like the receding tide. His figure gradually faded, and finally, along with the gray fog wasteland, disappeared into the darkness of the tunnel.
All that remained was the shattered battlefield and half of Odin's mask lying on the ground.
The feeling of oppression disappeared.
Lu Mingfei let out a long sigh of relief, almost fainting. Chu Zihang also let out a long breath and coughed violently, coughing up blood-tinged foam.
Jormungandr stood silently, gazing in the direction Odin had vanished, his expression obscured by the clown mask. His hands, previously covered in dragon scales, slowly returned to normal.
After a few seconds, she turned around and looked at the two disheveled people on the ground.
She walked up to the half of the Odin mask, kicked it with her toe in disgust, then bent down to pick it up and played with it in her hand.
"Tsk, the workmanship is really poor," she commented, casually tossing the mask on the ground before walking briskly to Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang.
She crouched down, the clown mask revealing a wide grin to the two of them.
"How were things, you two senior brothers? You got a pretty bad beating, didn't you?" Her tone returned to that familiar one, as if the Dragon King who had just confronted Odin and torn space apart with a wave of her hand was not her at all.
Lu Mingfei looked at her, opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say. Fear, shock, confusion, and relief at surviving a disaster—a mix of emotions welled up in his chest.
Chu Zihang stared intently at the clown mask, trying to see the real face behind it.
"Xia Mi, what exactly are you?"
Chapter 204 Trading
On the shattered battlefield, the aura of death brought by Odin and his undead army had not yet completely dissipated, leaving only devastation and two heavily wounded soldiers lying on the ground. Xia Mi, or rather Jormungandr, wearing a bizarre clown mask, squatted in front of Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang, his bright red smile stretching to his ears looking extremely strange.
Lu Mingfei secretly thought to himself, Xia Mi's taste is terrible, what is she talking about? Is she going to go to Gotham and confront Batman?
"How was it? President Chu and Senior Brother Lu got beaten up pretty badly~", Xia Mi said in a light tone, even with a hint of schadenfreude, as if the thrilling confrontation between the two kings was just a pastime.
Lu Mingfei winced in pain, hissing for breath, and managed to squeeze out a sentence: "Junior Sister Xia Mi, could you please come earlier next time? If you come any later, you'll only be able to collect our corpses."
"Oh, there was a traffic jam on the way, I understand." Xia Mi waved her hand with a smile, her tone as perfunctory as if she were discussing being late for a weekend dinner. "Besides, I saw that you guys were pretty good at fighting, right? You even managed to create a Time Zero. Senior Brother Chu's Bloodlust was so cool, he almost tore that Valkyrie lady apart."
Chu Zihang ignored her banter. His gaze was fixed on the clown mask, his chest heaving with pain and emotional turmoil. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, but he seemed oblivious to the pain, his golden eyes, burning with complex flames, fixed intently on her.
"Xia Mi," his voice was terribly hoarse, each word seeming to be squeezed out with difficulty from his throat, "when exactly did you come?"
"When did you become Jormungandr?" Xia Mi finished the question for him. She tilted her head, the blue teardrop on her mask seemed to sway. "Hmm, that's not the right question, President Chu."
She stretched out her finger and shook it gently.
“It’s not ‘becoming’,” she said with a smile, but beneath that smile lay a subtle distance. “From the very beginning, I have been Jormungandr.”
“From the moment you first met me at Shilan High School, or even longer, I have been the king of the earth and the mountains.”
These words were like a final judgment, shattering the last shred of hope in Chu Zihang's heart. He coughed violently, more blood gushing out, his eyes filled with immense shock, realization, and the stinging pain of being utterly fooled and betrayed. So all those chance encounters, those conversations, those seemingly girlish advances—were all fake? All a carefully crafted drama woven by a dragon king?
Lu Mingfei was also stunned. Although he had suspected it, hearing the person involved (Long) admit it so casually was still too shocking.
Xia Mi admired Chu Zihang's expression at that moment. She leaned closer, her clown mask almost touching his face, and whispered in a low, devilish voice, "How about it? Surprised? Unexpected? The ace of Kassel College who's always talking about slaying dragons has actually been classmates with a dragon king for so long? Almost, huh?"
Chu Zihang closed his eyes, clenched his teeth, and his body trembled slightly with anger and some other more complex emotion. He stopped looking at her.
Xia Mi chuckled with delight, as if she had succeeded in playing a prank, and finally stood up straight.
"Alright, that's enough chit-chat." She clapped her hands. "There are still two kids waiting inside, right? I'm going to check on my troublesome older brother."
With that, she ignored the two seriously injured people on the ground and turned to walk towards the cave where Frilian and Fenrir were.
Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang could only watch her leave.
Inside the cave, Frilian leaned weakly against the rock wall, trying her best to recover her magic power, while vigilantly guarding the unconscious human boy, Fenrir, beside her.
Footsteps approached. Frillie immediately looked up, her staff gleaming. When she saw that it was the figure wearing the clown mask who had just repelled Odin, her vigilance was heightened.
As Xia Mi entered the cave, her gaze immediately fell on the unconscious boy beside Frilian.
His steps suddenly stopped.
Even through the mask, Frillie could sense the extreme shock and disbelief emanating from her.
Xia Mi slowly walked forward, squatted down beside Fenrir, reached out her hand, wanting to touch his cheek, but hesitated. Her fingers trembled slightly.
She could clearly sense that the bloodline flowing through the boy's body was indeed that of his brother Fenrir, but the immense, mountain-like power of the dragon king had been forcibly restrained and transformed into a pure human form by an extremely sophisticated, almost rule-based force! It wasn't just a change in appearance; the very essence of his life had been temporarily rewritten.
How... how is this possible?!
She turned her head sharply to look at the weakened Frilian.
"You did it?"
Frillie nodded, her face pale but her eyes calm: "Yes, I had experience before, so it was quite successful."
Xia Mi fell silent. She looked down at her unconscious brother again, her eyes filled with an extremely complicated expression.
As the Dragon Queen, she understood better than anyone the difficulty and incredible nature of this transformation. This was something that ordinary incantations or alchemy could not achieve! It involved the most fundamental rules of the world!
She stood up again, walked up to Frilian, and carefully examined this elf from another world as if she were seeing her for the first time.
"Who exactly are you?" Xia Mi's voice was no longer mocking, but filled with inquiry and seriousness. "This power doesn't belong to this world. You came from 'outside'?"
Frillie met her gaze and nodded slightly: "I come from a world where magic is more prevalent. This is one of my original magics, but it consumes a great deal of energy."
She didn't reveal all the details, but she admitted to the magic that could transform dragons into humans.
Xia Mi stared at her for a long time, as if assessing something.
"Ha," Xia Mi suddenly chuckled softly, her laughter filled with relief.
Well, Fenrir might be better suited to living as a human.
