Kassel College, late at night.
A lone lamp shone overhead, casting a dim, yellowish glow on the floor of Angers' spacious office. Outside the window, the night was thick and impenetrable, and the hands of the clock tower in the distance pointed to two in the morning.
Eight small porcelain cups filled with tea were lined up on the table, their aroma wafting through the air.
Angers slowly picked up one of the glasses and raised it to everyone in the room.
"Good evening, everyone," he said with a smile, raising his glass. "It's a pleasure to see you all on this beautiful evening; even my old office looks splendid here."
A few scattered responses came from inside the room.
Fingel was tightly bound to a high-backed chair with thick hemp rope, looking just like Lu Bu who was tied up. He twisted his body frantically trying to break free, and kept wailing.
"Principal! I protest! Why do I have to go on missions with this madman Chu Zihang? Aren't Lu Mingfei and Frilline enough? Why drag me onto this pirate ship?!"
As an unprecedented "repeater" in the history of Kassel College, Finger is now showing an unprecedented will to survive.
His eyes widened, veins bulging on his forehead, like a condemned prisoner about to be led to the execution ground, muttering incessantly, "That's Fenrir! The Dragon King! The supreme Dragon King! You're sending me to my death! I won't do it! I won't do it!"
Vice Principal Flamel stood behind him, grinning wickedly, occasionally poking Fingel's shoulder with his finger, enjoying the futile struggle of a bound wild boar.
"Finger! Confess and you'll be treated leniently; resist and you'll be punished severely. I might let you off the hook."
Angers rubbed his temples and said helplessly, "Fingal, I haven't even asked you to come along and you're already this excited."
"Principal, you promised me!" Fingel stopped his futile struggle and looked at Angers with pitiful eyes. "Help Chu Zihang get through the hearing and I'll graduate! I still have a long life ahead of me to enjoy!"
As he spoke, his eyes began to wander, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up as he became lost in fantasies of a bright future.
He felt as if he were already standing on the streets of Tokyo, neon lights flashing, the warm light of an izakaya shining through the curtains onto his face.
He held a sizzling, oily skewer of grilled chicken in his left hand and had his right arm around a beautiful girl in a kimono.
The girl leaned shyly on his shoulder and said softly, "Mr. Fingel, you're so funny!"
"Hehe, of course!" He proudly raised his chin, pulled a wad of cash from his pocket with his other hand, and casually tossed it onto the bar. "Boss, ten more skewers of grilled beef tongue, please! The whole place is on me tonight!"
Then, he soaked in the hot spring, a towel on his head, a cup of sake in his hand, the outline of Mount Fuji faintly visible in the twilight.
The female staff member at the hot spring inn respectfully handed him the bill, to which he waved his hand dismissively: "Keep the change!"
Then, he sat in the first-class carriage of the Shinkansen, cherry blossoms fluttering outside the window, and a brand-new laptop on the seat next to him, the screen displaying the words "Graduation thesis submitted and approved".
He stretched and sighed contentedly, "Ah, this is life."
"Bang!" Schneider slammed his hand on the table, abruptly shattering his fantasy.
"You're dreaming!" the head of the executive department said coldly. "There's no such thing as a free lunch in reality. Don't embarrass yourself here!"
Lu Mingfei leaned against the wall, watching Fingel's discomfiture, and couldn't help but smile.
This guy, who's always been so shameless, is finally being taught a lesson.
Frilian took two steps toward Lu Mingfei, her long white hair brushing against his cheek.
She leaned close to Lu Mingfei's ear and whispered, "You must never become like Finger in the future."
Lu Mingfei shrank his neck, feeling an itch in his ears.
He chuckled dryly twice: "Don't worry, I'm not as shameless as Fingel."
Vice Principal Flamel cleared his throat and adopted a persuasive expression.
He leaned down, placing his hands on the armrests of Fingel's chair, and his face, which always wore a frivolous smile, suddenly became incredibly sincere.
“Listen, Fingel,” the vice principal said, putting on a kind expression and patting Fingel on the shoulder.
“Finger, young people should have ambition! Look, this mission is dangerous, but the rewards are great! And,” he lowered his voice and said mysteriously, “I heard that Beijing’s snacks are amazing—roast duck, hot pot, and noodles with soybean paste. Also, the girls there are incredibly friendly.”
"Think about it, after the mission is over, you will not only graduate smoothly, but also receive a generous bonus. Then you can go wherever you want to play!" Flamel persuaded patiently.
"Haven't you been complaining about how bad the food is in the college cafeteria? Beijing is a food capital! The roast duck has crispy skin and tender meat, the hot pot lamb is fresh, fragrant, and smooth, and there are all kinds of snack stalls. I guarantee you'll eat until you can't walk away!"
Fingel's eyes flickered, as if he was wavering, but he quickly shook his head frantically. "No way! This is a sugar-coated bullet! I'd rather repeat a year than be associated with Chu Zihang, that madman who's always unleashing 'Junyan'!"
Chu Zihang sat to the side, expressionless, picked up his teacup, took a sip, then picked up a piece of almond shortbread specially provided for the principal's office and ate it slowly, as if everything around him was irrelevant.
Lu Mingfei stared in disbelief, thinking, "Senior brother is really calm and collected; he can remain unmoved even in this situation."
Angers sighed, put down his teacup, and glanced at everyone before finally fixing his gaze on Fingel.
"Alright, that's enough of this farce." He smiled slightly. "Fingal, you have to go on this mission whether you like it or not."
Fingel's screams echoed throughout the principal's office.
Vice Principal Flamel nudged Professor Guderian beside him with his elbow and said in a low voice, "See? To deal with a tough nut like Fingel, you have to use both the carrot and the stick. First, tie him up to scare him, then use delicious food and beautiful women to lure him in."
Guderian looked on with admiration. "Vice Principal, you're brilliant! My teaching skills are indeed far behind yours."
"Ahem," Angers tapped the table lightly. "Now I'll explain the mission arrangements. Lu Mingfei, Frilian, Chu Zihang, and Fingel, the four of you will be temporary agents of the Executive Department, heading to Beijing to investigate the 'Fenrir Resurgence' incident."
"We're doomed! We're absolutely doomed this time!" Fingel howled like a wildcat whose tail had been stepped on. "Four people going to fight the Dragon King? Principal, are you making us deliver takeout to the dragons?!"
Frillie asked, "Is this mission just the four of us?"
Angers shook his head. "Of course not. The academy has dispatched multiple teams of specialists, and you are a special team with all bloodline ratings of A or higher. Bloodline advantage is extremely important when facing dragons of the third generation or higher."
Fingel stopped struggling, his eyes vacant as he muttered to himself, "It's not too late to drop out now."
Before he could finish speaking, the vice principal stuffed a piece of almond tart into his mouth. "Good boy, eat your fill before you go."
Chapter 117 The Seven Deadly Sins (Part 1)
Schneider took a step forward, his oxygen mask hissing, and his thin fingers pressed a button on the projector. A satellite map appeared on the wall, with an area marked in red in the center.
"The resurgence of Fenrir, the Dragon King, is the greatest crisis Kassel College has faced since its founding. It is not only about whether we can continue to remain secretive in front of ordinary people, but also about the survival of the hybrid world."
Heavy breathing could be heard from beneath the oxygen masks. "The elite of the Executive Department have been deployed in full force, divided into different groups, and heading to their destinations in batches. In addition to you, two other groups of students have also been dispatched."
The scene then switches to several familiar faces.
The first photo shows the blond, blue-eyed Caesar Gattuso with his arm around the red-haired Chen Motong, while Xia Mi, with shoulder-length black hair, stands beside them.
The three stood on the steps in front of the school's badminton hall, Caesar's smile dazzlingly confident.
"One group consists of Caesar Gattuso, Chen Motong, and Xia Mi."
The second photo shows three young people: Lin Xia, wearing round-framed glasses, is looking down at a book; Horus is making a V-sign at the camera; and Guilliman is standing at the back with a serious expression.
"The second group consists of Lin Xia, Horus, and Guilliman."
Lu Mingfei blinked, thinking to himself, "Aren't these all acquaintances?"
Caesar was accompanied by his beautiful fiancée and Xia Mi, who was suspected to be Chu Zihang's girlfriend.
As for Lin Xia and Horus, they were junior students in his club with whom he had a good relationship. Guilliman had met them once during the 3E exam.
Fingel's eyes darted around as he shouted at Lu Mingfei, "Mingfei! Can you bear to watch your acquaintances go on such a dangerous mission? Caesar has treated you well, hasn't he? Nuonuo is such a good girl! And your juniors in the club, they're all innocent kids!"
Lu Mingfei felt a pang in his heart at what he said, and hesitated whether to speak. Frilian answered for him calmly: "People always have to grow up."
"Hey, hey, hey! Frilian, how could you be so mean? How could you be so cold-hearted!" Fingel struggled and protested.
Vice Principal Flamel chuckled and tightened the rope even more.
"Ouch! It hurts! Vice Principal, please be gentle!" Fingel wailed.
"How can you not tighten your grip when binding a tiger?" Flamel quoted a Chinese proverb, his strength undiminished.
Lu Mingfei couldn't help but chuckle, but quickly composed himself and looked at Angers, "Principal, why were Caesar and the others sent on this mission?"
Angers interlaced his fingers and rested them on his chin, pondered for a moment, and slowly said, "Caesar's participation in the mission as a temporary commissioner was a decision made by the Board of Directors, no, to be precise, by the Gattuso family. Chen Motong and Xia Mi were team members personally selected by Caesar."
He paused for a moment, then added, "As for your juniors, they signed up voluntarily."
"Voluntary?" A big question mark popped up above Lu Mingfei's head.
Lin Xia likes to spend all day in the library, Horus is a quiet person, and Guilliman is a chuunibyou who likes to shout "For the Emperor!" Why are the three of them so enthusiastic?
Chu Zihang remained lost in thought, showing no reaction to the mention of Caesar's name, and simply poured himself another cup of tea.
Lu Mingfei couldn't help but wonder if his senior brother was in a meditative state.
Frillie asked, "Headmaster, for such a dangerous mission, has the Equipment Department provided any powerful equipment?"
Fingel immediately chimed in, "Yes, yes! Headmaster! You can't expect us to fight the Dragon King empty-handed, can you? At least give us something good!"
A series of exaggerated images immediately flashed through Fingel's mind:
Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet, worn on his hand, could obliterate the Dragon King with a snap of his fingers. Iron Man's suit, covering his entire body, could shatter dragon scales with a single palm strike. And then there's Thor's hammer, a single blow unleashing lightning and thunder.
Ideally, we'd also like Batman's all-purpose belt, filled with all sorts of pay-to-win gadgets.
Angers shook his head. "Unfortunately, I have been temporarily relieved of my position as principal and am unable to call upon the equipment department."
He spread his hands with a wry smile, "So I can't provide you with the same level of support as in previous missions."
Lu Mingfei's face turned pale instantly. He recalled the scene when he dealt with that second-generation dragon servant under the Yangtze River. It took the support of the entire Moniah and the alchemical weapons provided by the equipment department to barely win.
Now we're facing the Dragon King himself, and there's absolutely no support from him.
"Headmaster, when we fought the next generation of Dragon Servant, we had the Moniah and all sorts of alchemical weapons. Now we're going straight to fight the Dragon King, but we haven't received any support at all? Isn't this just sending us to our deaths?"
Angers smiled slightly, then changed the subject, "However, I can provide some private support."
Vice Principal Flamel whistled and walked to an oil painting in the corner of his office.
He lifted the painting, revealing a hidden slot in the wall, and entered a complex password. As the mechanism activated, a concealed safe slid out from within the wall.
Flamel took out a pitch-black metal box from inside. The box was covered with complex alchemical runes and faintly glowed with a dark golden light.
"What is this?" Lu Mingfei's eyes widened; he was very familiar with this thing.
Angers slowly rose, his fingers lightly tracing the lid of the box. "The pinnacle of alchemy, a masterpiece of the King of Bronze and Fire."
“The Seven Deadly Sins,” Angers murmured the name, as if calling out to an old friend.
"boom!"
The moment the box was opened, an ancient and violent aura swept through the entire office.
Lu Mingfei gasped. He recognized these weapons; they were legendary dragon-slaying weapons crafted by Norton himself, each corresponding to a different original sin.
The last time I saw them was at an auction, where I bought this set of equipment for a hundred million US dollars.
Seven swords of different shapes lay quietly in the box, each exuding a chilling aura.
