After the divorce, I started to transfer

Chapter 1832 involves a murder case.

After Molly put down her phone, her face looked even worse.

Chen Feng asked with some confusion and concern, "What's wrong?"

Molly then gave a wry smile and explained, "My father is involved in a murder case and has been detained by the police."

Upon hearing this, Chen Feng frowned. He knew her father, of course; they had spent time together and shared meals a few times back in Xiuzhou. Although her father was a seasoned playboy, Chen Feng's impression of him was acceptable. While he had the airs of a spoiled brat, he wasn't the type to bully or oppress the weak, which was rather rare. Hearing that her father, Johnny, was involved in a murder case, Chen Feng was quite surprised.

"What exactly happened? Your father shouldn't be that kind of person. Does the police suspect him of murder, or are they involved?"

After a slight hesitation, Molly continued, "He recently started dating a girlfriend. This girlfriend is quite influential; she's the daughter of a political family, divorced, and has children. She's in her forties now. Some time ago, they started living together, sometimes at my father's house and sometimes at hers. But this time, his girlfriend died in her own home. The preliminary diagnosis is an overdose of illegal drugs. My father was with her at the time."

Chen Feng asked in confusion, "Since she overdosed on banned drugs, what does it have to do with your father?"

Molly said helplessly, "The problem is, the police can't rule out homicide right now. And the deceased's family is a political family; her mother was a judge, her father was a well-known lawyer, and one of her uncles was a state legislator. They have reason to suspect that my father injected the deceased with an overdose of illicit drugs. Now we have to wait for the specific autopsy report. If the autopsy report is normal, my father will be much less suspicious. If the autopsy finds other problems, then my father will be a strong suspect."

"Can your father be released on bail now? With your family's connections in New York, it shouldn't be a problem, right?"

Molly smiled wryly, "The problem is that the deceased's family is also very powerful, and since it involves a murder case, my family can't possibly influence the police to bend the law. Now we can only wait for the autopsy report. If the autopsy report is normal and confirms that the death was caused by an overdose of prohibited substances, then my father should be able to be released on bail. If other drug components are found in the autopsy, such as sleeping pills or hallucinogens, then it will be more troublesome."

"Okay, so what should we do now? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Molly shook her head: "I don't need your help. But I might have to stay in New York and won't be able to go to San Francisco with you."

Chen Feng thought to himself, "It's better if you don't go. After all, Jenny is still in San Francisco." Although he didn't care about the two women meeting and everyone knowing about their relationship, it was better to avoid meeting if possible.

"Okay, given what happened to your father, you really should stay here. I'll go to San Francisco by myself."

Molly nodded and said, "I might have to go to the police station later. I hope I can see my father there."

Chen Feng had no objection, and even thoughtfully said, "Why don't I go with you?"

Molly hesitated for a moment before nodding: "If you can come with me, that would be great."

"Okay, I'll go with you."

So Molly took out her phone and made a call. A few minutes later, she hung up and said to Chen Feng, "Okay, let's go."

After tidying up a bit, the two quickly went downstairs, got back into the hotel's limousine, and drove to the police station where the incident occurred.

About half an hour later, the two got out of the car in front of the police station. Then a white man in his forties who looked like a lawyer came over to greet Molly and led them into the police station.

In the police station's meeting room, Molly and Chen Feng met Johnny. He looked somewhat haggard, and upon seeing them, he said with a wry smile, "I never thought we'd meet here one day. But don't worry, I'll be fine. Martha's death has absolutely nothing to do with me. I had been drinking and fell asleep on the sofa watching TV. Martha was in the bathroom at the time, and when I woke up and went to find her, I discovered she was dead. I immediately called an ambulance and the police. So I'm truly innocent. I loved her, and we had no conflicts; our relationship had always been stable. Why would I kill her?"

Molly said somewhat helplessly, "Daddy, of course I believe you. But you can't be completely cleared of suspicion yet. Once Martha's autopsy report comes out and proves that you have no responsibility, you'll be fine."

Johnny shook his head with a wry smile: "Alright, I'll wait and see."

At this point, he looked at Chen Feng again: "Chen, thank you for coming to see me. It's just that the location of our meeting isn't very suitable. After I come out, I'll treat you to dinner at a French restaurant."

Chen Feng immediately nodded: "Okay, sir, let's have dinner together next time we have the chance."

The three of them didn't chat much. After all, this was a police station, and getting them to meet was already considered a favor. So, in less than ten minutes, Chen Feng and his companion came out of the police station.

Seeing that Molly looked unwell, Chen Feng comforted her, "I think your father was wronged. So once the autopsy report comes out, he should be fine."

“I also believe my father is innocent.”

The two returned to the hotel, but Molly was a little down, and Chen Feng didn't know what to say to comfort her. After all, her father hadn't been completely cleared of suspicion yet, and there was no point in saying anything more now.

The two sat on the sofa watching TV for a while, then Molly became restless. She stood up, grabbed her phone, and went to the side to make a call, which lasted for over an hour. She was probably trying to find connections and people to inquire about her father's case. Later, she also seemed to have called her mother, and the two ended up arguing.

After hanging up the phone, Molly stormed back to the sofa and complained to Chen Feng, "My mother is such a cold-blooded and heartless person. She still hasn't forgiven my father because he cheated on me. I told her my father was wronged and innocent, but my mom said, 'That's not necessarily true.' She actually suspects my father; it's incomprehensible!"

Chen Feng could only smile and shrug, offering no opinion. After all, they were her parents, and it wouldn't be right for him to take either side, especially since he wasn't even their son-in-law yet.

The two stayed in the hotel room. Molly kept contacting people on her phone, while Chen Feng initially stayed with her, just watching TV. Later, getting bored, he went back to his room and started scrolling through his phone. It wasn't until dinner time that they gathered in the living room to eat the food that had been brought to them. Afterward, Molly went back to making calls and sending messages. Chen Feng returned to his room, contacted a few women back in China, and also video-chatted with his two children.

After ending the call, it was already past ten o'clock at night. So Chen Feng ignored Molly and went to bed.

The next morning at seven o'clock, Chen Feng went to the gym to work out again, and unsurprisingly, he saw Luna again.

When Luna met Chen Feng this time, she was noticeably more reserved, but she still happily greeted him first, and Chen Feng nodded in response.

After doing some squats, I picked up two dumbbells and started lifting weights. At this moment, Luna, who had finished her presses, came over and said with a smile, "Anyway, I really appreciate you and Molly for what happened yesterday. Without you two, I wouldn't have been able to get rid of that guy's harassment."

Chen Feng glanced at her and kindly reminded her, "That guy probably won't dare to mess with me and Molly anymore. However, he might mess with you. So you should still be careful."

Luna's expression changed slightly, and then she realized that Chen Feng's words made a lot of sense. She knew that her company's marketing director, bald Kane, was Hank's friend, and if Hank wanted to target her, it wouldn't be difficult for him.

“Thank you, your reminder was very important to me,” Luna said gratefully. “He’s a friend of my company’s marketing director, and he’s been bragging about this, which is why I’ve been so angry but haven’t dared to speak up.”

Chen Feng looked at her with some sympathy and said, "Then you should prepare in advance. If your company's marketing director really targets you, I think you should consider changing jobs."

Luna smiled wryly, "I signed a five-year contract with the company, and this is only the second year. If I want to terminate the contract early, I'll have to pay a very high penalty."

Chen Feng was helpless to help her after hearing this. Besides, the two had only just met, and Chen Feng's initiative to remind her was already quite righteous.

Seeing that Chen Feng didn't respond, Luna felt a little disappointed. If possible, she certainly hoped Chen Feng could help her. After all, Chen Feng had a powerful girlfriend, the heiress of the Lampson family. If Chen Feng or Molly simply said that Luna was their friend, Hank wouldn't dare do anything to her. Unfortunately, she wasn't friends with Molly, nor with this handsome Chen Feng. It was clear she couldn't benefit from his connections.

"Thanks again for reminding me." Luna could only look a little embarrassed as she continued to train on the side.

After exercising for about twenty minutes, Chen Feng finished his morning workout.

My flight is at 9:30. Although this hotel is close to the airport, and I'm a first-class VIP, I still need to arrive at least an hour early.

Back in the hotel room, Molly was already up and standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window making a phone call. Upon seeing Chen Feng, she pointed towards the dining table.

A variety of breakfast items were already laid out, in generous portions and with a good selection. Perhaps because of her unpleasant experience yesterday morning, she ordered breakfast directly to be delivered to her room this time.

Chen Feng nodded to her, went to the bathroom, took a few minutes to shower, changed his clothes, and then came out to have breakfast.

Halfway through the meal, Molly finished her call and came over to sit down and eat with them. Then she said to Chen Feng, "I have to go to the police station later, so I won't be able to take you to the airport."

Chen Feng said understandingly, "It's alright. Your father's matter is important. This place is so close to the airport, there's no need to see me off."

Molly nodded, her mood a little down as she continued eating breakfast. The two finished their meal quickly, and Molly hugged Chen Feng tightly, then gave him a passionate kiss before reluctantly picking up her bag and hurrying out the door.

Meanwhile, Chen Feng started packing his luggage. After making sure he hadn't forgotten anything, he contacted his two bodyguards to confirm they had already gone to the airport. After all, they were in business class, while Chen Feng was in first class and could arrive later.

He carried his luggage to the hotel lobby on the first floor. Molly had helped him with the check-in process, so he didn't need to use his ID and therefore didn't need to do any check-out procedures. Then, he happened to see Luna just finishing her check-out process. He had to admit, this hotel really wasn't very big.

"Hi John, what a coincidence, we meet again."

Chen Feng nodded and asked, "Are you leaving too?"

Luna gave a wry smile and said, "Yes. I was supposed to shoot a cover ad, but the company suddenly notified me that I don't need to shoot it anymore, and the company will arrange another model to shoot the ad."

Chen Feng raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, Hank is starting to take revenge on you?"

Luna nodded slightly: "That should be the case. My agent inquired and said that the order was given by Marketing Director Kane."

Chen Feng shook his head and said with a look of disdain, "This Hank is really shameless. I believe he won't have a good ending. Just wait and see."

Luna clearly didn't quite believe Chen Feng's words, but she didn't refute them. She just forced a smile and said, "Thank you for your comfort. I also hope that this guy gets his comeuppance and dies soon."

Chen Feng nodded: "Yes."

After saying that, Chen Feng said goodbye to her, "Okay, let's stop here for now. I have to go to the airport to catch my flight."

Luna exclaimed with delight, "That's such a coincidence! I'm also heading to the airport to catch my flight. Want to come together?"

Since it was on the way and the distance was so short, Chen Feng couldn't refuse, so he nodded and said, "Okay, let's go together then."

The two quickly arrived at the hotel entrance, where a hotel limousine was already parked.

The two quickly got into the car and drove towards the airport.

After the car had driven a short distance, Luna, holding her phone, couldn't help but ask again, "Can we exchange contact information now?"

Seeing her nervous yet expectant expression, Chen Feng finally softened, nodded, and took out his phone to add her on WeChat.

Surprisingly, she had the app on her phone too. The reason was simple: she had previously received business from China, one in Shanghai and the other in Xiuzhou. So, she was quite surprised and delighted to learn that Chen Feng lived in Xiuzhou. She had assumed Chen Feng lived in New York, since Molly, the eldest daughter of the Lampson family, was there. It was truly unexpected that Chen Feng would tell her he was from China and lived in Xiuzhou.

She couldn't help but ask again, "So you and Molly are in a cross-border relationship? That's really... rare."

Obviously, cross-border relationships are not viewed favorably anywhere in the world.

Chen Feng said, "I guess so before, but she's going to settle down in Xiuzhou from now on."

Luna was even more surprised to hear this, her eyes widening slightly before she said with great admiration, "Then Molly is truly great. She must love you very much."

Chen Feng gave an ambiguous answer: "Probably."

Seeing that Chen Feng didn't seem to care much, Luna felt a little indignant on Molly's behalf.

If it were an ordinary person, moving from Mexico to China for love would be one thing, but this is Molly. She's the heiress of the Lampson family. For Molly to choose to settle in Xiuzhou for Chen Feng and for love, there's no doubt that she's made a significant sacrifice.

"How did you two meet?" Luna was really curious now. What was it about Chen Feng that made Molly love him so much?

“Once I called a ride-hailing service in Los Angeles, and she hailed a car on the street. We got into the same car and that’s how we met.”

"Why was she stopping cars on the roadside?" Luna continued to ask. Logically speaking, someone of Molly's status wouldn't be stopping cars on the roadside by herself.

Although Chen Feng didn't really want to answer, seeing her eager expression and the fact that they were sitting together, he couldn't be too cold, so he said, "She was a backpacker at the time."

Luna exclaimed in surprise, "She was a backpacker?"

Chen Feng shrugged and said nothing.

Luna wanted to ask more questions, but the car soon arrived at the airport. They got out of the car, and Chen Feng parted ways with her at the airport exit. He was going to the VIP lounge, while Luna had bought economy class tickets, and they weren't on the same flight—Luna was going back to Los Angeles, and Chen Feng was going to San Francisco. So they said goodbye. (End of Chapter)
