Doomsday America

Chapter 21 Doris, be strong!

Chapter 21 Doris, be strong!
Hearing Eugene's感慨 (sentiments/reflections), Gavin shook his head and smiled.

"If Mexican zombies don't rush into Texas from the US-Mexico border, I'll be just as grateful to Mexico as you are."

After saying that, he waved to Eugene.

"Go drive, I don't like being too close to zombies."

"Fuck, big shots always have demands, while small shots just want Coke, quarterback!"

Eugene chuckled and returned to the old Ford with a grin.

Looking at Eugene's retreating figure, Madison sneered and said.

"What a damn pretentious person."

"It's good to be a little sentimental; at least you still have a conscience."

Gavin patted Madison's arm and climbed onto the Tyrannosaurus Rex without a second thought.

After finishing the entire bottle of Coke, Madison strode back to the RV.

Seeing Madison get into the car, Winnie left the bed at the back of the RV, went to the sofa behind the driver's seat, and leaned against the sofa with her back to Madison, asking him a question.

"Are we going to Palmer, like the boss said?"

"Hehe, you learn really fast. That's right, Gavin is the boss. He's the best boss I've ever followed, and he's brought me countless honors and money!"

As Madison chatted, he started the RV and, as the Tyrannosaurus Rex turned around, he continued speaking to Winnie.

"Don't worry, kid, in just over ten minutes we'll be able to watch the sunrise at the artificial lake outside Palmer."

"I'm not worried, I'm just a little hungry. Maybe when we get to the lake, I can wake my mom up and ask her to make us some breakfast?"

As Winnie spoke, she turned around worriedly and looked at her mother, who was lying unconscious on the bed.

This elementary school student is already worried about his mother's role in the team.

In their school, the school bully among the girls likes to bully people like their own mothers.

Winnie even thought that if she shrunk her mother down to their elementary school size, she could bully her mother so much that she would cry all the time.

Upon hearing this, Madison sped up while patting his stomach.

"Breakfast, tsk tsk, Gavin and I only had a burger this morning. It would have been great if there was some stew."

At this point, Madison turned to Winnie and asked.

"Kid, is your mom's cooking good?"

"Of course it's delicious, after all, all she does is cook and clean. But I didn't expect the eldest to be Gavin. I even have his poster at home!"

"That's right, haha, Gavin King, the most famous big shot in Texas."

"As for me, I am Madison, Madison Konasec. And you?"

"Winnie Baker, thank you for saving us!"

Winnie gratefully reached out her hand to Madison.

Seeing this, Madison smiled and shook her hand, then said...

"Are there many kids like you in school? Are all kids these days so precocious?"

"What do you mean precocious? I'm already twelve years old, and I'll be going to middle school next year!"

"Really? Middle school, right? I was in a gang with my cousin when I was in middle school, but unfortunately I never had a chance to steal a car."

The two of them started chatting back and forth.

Madison had many children, and although he was young, he was very experienced in raising children and quickly made Winnie giggle.

Amidst the laughter, the unconscious woman in the back of the RV slowly shook her head and actually woke up.

“Winnie…”

The woman called out weakly, but Old Mike and Winnie couldn't hear her.

"Winnie... are you there?"

The woman gradually got up, propped herself up on the bed, and saw in her confusion that a huge figure had taken over the driver's seat of her RV.

"Ahhhh!!!"

In the blink of an eye, screams filled the carriage, startling Madison and Winnie so much they almost jumped up.

"Oh maiga!"

Winnie stared in astonishment, then quickly jumped off the sofa and ran to her mother!

"Mom, please be quiet! Please stop yelling, I'm scared!"

As she spoke, Winnie pounced heavily on her mother's lap and raised her hand to cover her mother's mouth.

After confirming that her daughter was alright, the woman breathed a sigh of relief, then suddenly realized what was happening and hugged Winnie tightly in her arms.

"Oh, God……"

The woman cried as she hugged Winnie tightly, her suppressed sobs quickly filling the entire carriage.

Hearing her mother crying, Winnie rolled her eyes, patted her mother's leg, and said.

"Doris, be strong, that's what you taught me!" "Waaah... I will, I... Waaah... Kenny was bitten to death by them, I saw it with my own eyes, your father, my husband is dead..."

Despite telling herself to be strong, Doris kept seeing the image of her husband's death in her mind.

strong?

Can everyone's strength truly overcome the pain in their heart?

Hearing her mother's cries, Winnie pursed her lips worriedly.

She was afraid that her mother would be disliked by the leader of the group.

Just like the girl groups at their school, they would also look down on and reject the little fools who only know how to cry.

So Winnie desperately escaped from her mother's arms, bracing herself against her mother's legs as she spoke to her.

"Mom, stop crying. If you keep crying, the eldest son will come and scold us!"

"Believe me, Gavin is terrifying. He lifted another middle-aged man up with just one hand and threw him to the ground!"

"what……?"

Upon hearing this, even though Doris was heartbroken, she couldn't help but open her mouth.

"What boss?"

"Of course, he'll be our future boss, Mom. You don't really think the two of us can handle those cannibalistic guys, do you?"

Winnie rolled her eyes so hard they almost reached the sky. When will Mom grow up?

Doris stared blankly, confused, and asked in a daze.

We're saved?

"Otherwise, if no one comes to our rescue, I won't even know how to park a car!"

"Wait, you don't have a driver's license yet, how can you... God, what sins have I committed to deserve this punishment!"

"And Edward, Edward... Waaaaaah!"

"I need to call the police, I absolutely have to call the police, I... I also need to call your grandparents!"

At this point, Doris seemed to regain some of her senses, and her voice gradually softened.

After he could no longer hear anything, Madison in the driver's seat let out a sigh of relief and continued to keep his eyes fixed on the Tyrannosaurus Rex ahead.

In the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Gavin held the steering wheel with one hand and checked Palmer's condition on his phone with the other.

Gavin watched Palmer's promotional video for a moment, then put down his phone, speculating on what aspects of the video could be exploited.

While pondering, the Tyrannosaurus Rex traveled sixteen kilometers, gradually approaching the Palmer region.

At this point, Gavin began to slow down gradually and picked up his 8x scope to observe the surrounding environment.

When the artificial lake came into view, he exhaled, turned the car right off the road, and drove onto the gradually opening grassland.

As the RV drove onto the grass, the bumpy ride made Doris, who was silently weeping while holding the phone, shudder.

Winnie jumped off the bed and said excitedly.

We're almost there!

"Where to, the police station, or the shelter?"

Doris sat up, clutching the phone, and climbed to the window to look outside.

The sky was gradually revealing the light of the rising sun, and with the thin mist that often rises on the east coast in the early morning, it looked quite dreamy.

Gazing at the dreamlike scenery, Doris's eyes welled up with tears. This must be the scenery Kenny wanted to take her to see.

But now...

God, why does she have to face all this...?

Fortunately, she still has her daughter.

If Winnie were already dead, Doris would want to curl up in bed and cry her heart out, then shove the gun in her mouth and pull the trigger.

Perhaps that would be more satisfying.

At that moment, Doris, who was crying, turned to look at Winnie and couldn't help but purse her lips.

For my daughter's sake, no matter what I encounter, I must at least keep living!
Doris, be strong!
After silently encouraging herself, Doris wiped away her tears and then got out of bed.

Upon entering the shower room, Doris looked at the bloodstains on her forehead in the mirror, turned on the tap, and gently washed them away with the water.

She hadn't even finished washing her face when the car stopped, and the jolting sensation from the stop made her quickly brace herself against the wall.

Immediately afterwards, she felt something jump onto the roof of the car, and the heavy footsteps made the hairs on her body stand on end.

Madison, in the driver's seat, came to the aisle after parking the car, glanced at the roof, and laughed.

"Gavin's really fast. Let's go, kid. While you're at it, take your mom with you for a look around."

"Have you mentioned stewing meat to your mom yet? I'm really looking forward to it! Gavin will definitely love stewing meat, haha~"
