Doomsday America

Upon hearing this, William immediately did as instructed, pinching his own ear hard.

So as he endured the pain, his breathing gradually calmed down.

After confirming that William's breathing wasn't abrupt, Eugene grinned and continued to soothe him softly.

"That's right, buddy, stay calm."

"The zombies arrived right after we climbed up. Gavin, that bastard, definitely didn't have good intentions. I bet even if I hadn't asked him for a gun, he would have offered me advice at the right time."

"I fucking thought we made those choices ourselves, but now it seems like he probably made them for us. What a fucking bastard, haha~"

At this point, Eugene reached out and patted William on the shoulder. The two of them were lying head to head, very close together.

After further calming William down, Eugene glanced at the distance to the zombies and said in a relaxed tone.

"But none of that matters. What matters most is whether we can see our loved ones. Whatever you see, remember what I'm saying: pinch your ears hard with your fingernails, feel the pain, and adjust your breathing!"

"Believe me, after this is over, Gavin will be begging us to do things for him."

"Even if he builds a huge doomsday camp in the future, we will still be the best explorers. So what if that bastard becomes the boss? He'll still have to beg us for help someday, haha!"

At this point in the laughter, Eugene gave William a hard pinch on the shoulder.

The zombies were getting closer and closer, and Eugene could no longer speak.

Then, the two fell into complete silence, with only the soft sound of their breathing rising and falling.

In the distance, at the temporary campsite.

In Gavin's eyes, the horde of zombies burst out of the area hidden by the forest and rampaged along the road like waves sweeping across the front of Palmer town.

Their limbs were twisted, they staggered, their faces were contorted, but their goal was unwavering.

But they just couldn't find William and Eugene...

During this process, eight zombies even crashed into the large pillars of the billboard.

Eugene and William did not cause any disturbance.

Seeing this, even though the zombie horde had only passed halfway past the billboard, Gavin stopped reading.

He approached the RV, knocked on the window, and said to Madison with a smile.

"I'm pretty sure that zombies have an extremely poor sense of smell."

"As for their eyesight, I can't judge, but I at least know that they are not good at searching for stationary targets, just like frogs."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin handed the binoculars to Madison.

After Madison looked through it, Winnie immediately took the binoculars, and even Doris came over to take a look.

After the binoculars were returned to Gavin's hands, Gavin smiled and looked at the three excited-looking people in the car, and said.

"How does it feel? Great, right? After all, zombies aren't invincible; at least they can't pinpoint each and every one of us!"

"Yeah, boss, we can play hide-and-seek with them!"

Winnie was the first to excitedly respond to Gavin's words.

Although Madison and Doris didn't say anything, Gavin could feel the morale boost that Eugene and Doris's successful escape had given the team.

If Eugene and the other two die, will the team's morale drop?
So what if the number drops? It will only further expose everyone to the threat of zombies, but it will also help them recognize reality and raise their awareness, and it will also make it easier for Gavin to manage.

Of course, there's no need to face reality now, so Gavin tapped on the car window to give a reminder.

"Doris, how much longer until breakfast? I'm getting impatient!"

"Oh? Sorry... Five more minutes, just five minutes!"

Doris clenched her fist and placed it on her chest, making a rare, firm promise to Gavin.

While Doris got busy, Winnie opened the RV door and jogged toward Gavin.

She grabbed Gavin's leg and whispered something to him.

"I thought they were really going to die. You knew they were safe all along, right? You wouldn't let us die in front of you, would you, boss?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Winnie slowly loosened Gavin's pants.

She raised her small face to look at Gavin, her blonde hair shining even brighter in the morning sun, just as bright as Gavin, whom she gazed at.

Meeting Winnie's expectant gaze, Gavin grinned mischievously and tapped her on the forehead.

"It's a mistake to call you young. You're so young and you're already trying to morally blackmail me. You must be doing really well at school, kid?"

"What are you saying, boss? I don't understand anything. I need to go do my homework!"

Winnie immediately turned and ran towards the RV, but just as she was about to board it, she suddenly stopped!
"Wait!" She turned around, her eyes wide, and looked at Gavin with disbelief, asking.

"Boss, if everyone turns into zombies, will my teacher also...?"

At this point, without needing Gavin's reply, Winnie exclaimed "Oh!" with delight, then waved her hands and jumped into the RV, eagerly shouting to Doris.

"Mom! Woohoo! I don't have to do homework anymore!!!"

"Fake..."

Outside the RV, Gavin couldn't help but laugh and curse, then turned to look at the billboard.

After the zombie horde swept past like a river, Eugene and his companion waited until the zombies had run at least a kilometer away before climbing down the billboard, getting into their car, and driving away.

Eugene parked the old Ford not far from the Tyrannosaurus Rex, silently opened the car door, shook his head, and came to Gavin's side.

Gavin tossed him a cigarette and asked.

"Why are you shaking your head? Isn't the person you're looking for among the zombie horde?"

"No, it's the person we're looking for who's beyond saving."

Eugene took a deep drag of his cigarette and smiled wryly.

“Gavin, your suggestion is excellent. I never want to go home again, and I’m afraid William feels the same way.”

"Guess what we saw? His brother was only a dozen meters away from my sister, and my sister even lost her shoes while running. To hell with the zombie apocalypse!"

As he finished speaking, Eugene exhaled a lonely smoke ring.

Upon hearing this, Gavin paused for a moment, then pointed to William, who hadn't gotten out of the car, and asked.

"So, does he want to be alone there for a while?"

"Let him cry while biting his nails. He's just a brat who hasn't been weaned. I'm not wrong."

Eugene glanced at William and curled his lip.

Gavin nodded thoughtfully and said.

"Alright, let him wait by himself for a while, let's go eat."

"What? The stew is ready? That was fucking slow! Holy crap, it smells amazing!"

After taking a deep sniff, Eugene strode over to Old Ford, slammed his foot on the car door, and began to curse.

"Stop spouting your sentimental nonsense! Do you think you're Shakespeare? Come and eat, you idiot!"

After saying that, without waiting for William's agreement, Eugene forcibly dragged William towards the RV.

After settling things off with William, Eugene went to Old Ford's place, opened the trunk, and pulled out a dozen beers.

Eugene waved his beer at Gavin from a distance and grinned broadly.

"Look what this is, quarterback! You guys who play basketball never get to drink this kind of good stuff!"

"Fuck you, Eugene, do you think we're ascetics? We not only drink the strongest liquor, we also play with the hottest girls!"

As soon as Eugene finished speaking, Madison pushed open the car door and instinctively interrupted Eugene, shouting insults at him.

Upon hearing this, Eugene shook his head dismissively and retorted with a curse.

"Get lost, Ni Ge, will you die if you don't brag?"

While cursing, he handed Madison a bottle of beer.

Madison bit the bottle cap open with his teeth, drank most of the bottle in one gulp, and then let out a satisfied burp.

Not far away, Winnie got off the RV carrying a camping blanket and slowly spread it out.

Seeing Doris place the most important pot of stew on the camping blanket, Eugene quickly tossed Gavin a bottle of beer and then grabbed a spot on the blanket.

While Gavin was opening his beer, Doris brought over a plate of rice and nervously asked Gavin a question.

"I...I haven't cooked rice much before, do you think that's okay?"

"Believe me, nothing beats this, Doris!"

Gavin offered emotional support as he carried a plate to the camping blanket.

He had barely sat down when Winnie scooped him a large spoonful of broth, eight parts meat and two parts broth.

Gavin took a spoonful and tasted it. It was surprisingly good. Although it was different from the style of his own chef's stew, not only was the broth rich and flavorful, but the beef was also tender and delicious.

Winnie wasn't joking; her mom actually has some skill in cooking!
